I wonder where "aristos" and serfs change .
I do have "aristos" in my tree have a gt x? grandfather being a Wedgwood (leading off to the fact Darwin is a cousin etc) but my gt. grandfather from that tree was a railway signalman and my grandfather of that tree I don't have the faintest who he is. My paternal tree yes I guess they were "aristos" being builders and owners of sickle mills. My father included as an owner of a building firm that went back for many years.

I don't consider myself as either an "aristo" or as a person who lacks manners. BUT I do consider my father as a person who helped the building of the country and not only with bricks and mortar but also with his manners and his place in WW2.

Eveline I think you should split your complaint in two. Bad manners of today do neither come solely from the "aristos" or the great ag labs but a bit of both. Each having their own way of bad manners by either being arrogant , ignorant or just plain bad mannered

I think you should not judge those who haven't replied to you. as being bad mannered.

There is no rule that they have to reply to pms.

Failure to reply could also be that they joined, then forgot about the site (& not had notifications enabled)

I'm also not joking regarding my last point. Sadly we do lose members, known to us and not.and sometimes their free subscription remains, if a relative wants it to, or if they dont know about it in the first place

Be fore they Chopped off their Heads ( Madam Guillotine).Sadly some of mine suffered a fate worse than that, (Hung Drawn And Quartered) a Grizzley end. But most of the so called "Aristos" Were Robber Barons.Very Similar to todays MPs. **M**.

I'm talking about manners like thankyou please. BTW first read history - Aristos plundered the country to get what they have today FACT. Second WE ARE ALL from serfs and peasants.

Pleae use the simple rules of manners - consideration. It makes life so much more pleasant.

Does anyone else agree that we should have a thread like this, complete with posts giving reasons why some one hasn't answered, stickied. That way when, yet again, someone else posts a thread complaining we can simply point them to that thread.

But if it wasn't for the Aristos then us plebs would have nothing to aspire to !

I think that's two different issues really?

If they don't answer it is unlikely to be because they are only looking for "Aristos" because you won't be able to tell them that until they answer :))

Nor would I say the Aristos were all as you describe, not that I have any in my tree either lol. Mine ( other than possibly some Norman knights in Ireland way back) were all resolutely working class and hard workers at that.

Have you checked that the people who haven't answered have actually read the message? If not they have probably left the site and are unaware you have sent one..

I cannot abide the people using this site who don't answer messages or have and use bad manners. They all appear to be looking for Aristos. Aristos are few and far between folks and we're all descended from peasants and serfs. The Aristos were the ones with big clubs and gangs to rape pillage and steal what they have today.

Let's bring back good old fashioned manners and appreciate our true ancestors who worked and built this country from nothing. IT WASN'T THE ARISTOS.
