A friend of Sallie's daughter lives near Julia and used to see her husband going to the allotment. I don't think she has seen him lately as she was going to ask him about Julia. I have to add she only thought it was Julia's husband she didn't actually know. I believe Sallie may have sent another letter with a bit more information but she hasn't said any more about whether that one too was returned.

I am beginning to believe that things may be serious for one reason or another as I am sure if at all possible Julia would have been on here to let us know. So I am sending Julia and her other half all my positive thoughts and prayers that all is or will be well.

evening peeps, i have to say that as time as gone past, i am beginning to think that poor julia is not well. if it were her husband, im sure she would have posted a short note to say she wouldnt be around for a while because etc..

if it was her computer out of order, then again im sure she would have access to somebody elses if only to tell us.

so i am deeply concerned as we all are and hope and pray, some news will turn up soon, hopefully for the better im sure.

wherever you are julia, we are all thinking of you and missing you lots.

if you are unwell by anychance, then thousands of positve thoughts coming your way and hope you will be back soon

I'm also concerned as it's not like Julia to be away for so long and I do know she has health problems. However......she may have decided not to come back on the boards for whatever reasons. I don't think she would have gone without telling someone but she may have. Speculation as to why she hasn't been on here for awhile doesn't help it just makes us more anxious.

Just a pity Gr cant contact her. They must have her address.
I suppose they cant get involved with everyone who goes 'walkabout' or they would be more than a family history site.

As I said before Julia had only been out of hospital a couple of days and her visits for morphine were becoming more frequent. I know her condition was similar to mine and was, life threatening. When I came back last year after about 9 months absence she mailed me several times and we discussed it. I am afraid and have been since she disappeared so suddenly.

Have to agree peeps, especially regarding the non functioning computer theory.....I think Julia would have just popped out and bought another, such was her enjoyment of this forum, it was a great part of her daily life.

Has anyone tried to mail her?

Florence61 Report 2 Mar 2011 22:59

oh please robin, are you having us on? oh well if you really dont know. neeps are short for turnips, except the vegetable is actually a swede.but up here in the far north they call it a turnip! and as for tatties.good old mashed potatoes. the turnip is also mashed.

generally served with haggis(yeeuk sorry) or any main meal we have. sunday lunch, chicken or beef or whatever.

are you having a dinner party? Julia would be proud of you.

But even a virgin cook like me knows that turnips are different to swedes.

Which one is it ?

And I won't be serving it with haggis ....................... yuk !
( that stuff must surely be illegal )

I was thinking of dishing it up with some of that salmon that I caught early one morning when no one was about !
