Spanish Eyes... hope the sun is shining where you are, its really dull here on the only bright notes are the daffodils and the forysthia in bloom

Some Lewis Carol quotes

Everything is funny if you can laugh at it

I knew who I was when I got up this morning but I think I must have changed several times since then (from Alice through the Looking Glass)

One of the deep secrets of lief is that all that is really worth woing is what we do for others.

If everybody minded their own business, the world would go round a great deal faster than it does.

I'd give all the wealth that years have piled, the slow result of life's decay to be once more a little child, for one bright summers day.

Its no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then

Always speak the truth, think before you speak and write it down afterwards

poem from me today. I know it isn't April yet but the weather today reminds me of April with spring flowers and showers.

Oh, to be in England
Now that April's there,
And whoever wakes in England
Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England -now!

And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows!
Hark, where my blossomed peartree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
Blossoms and dewdrops-at the bent spray's edge -
That's the wise thrush; he sings each song twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
The first fine careless rapture!
And though the fields look rough with hoary dew,
All will be gay when noontide wakes anew
The buttercups, the little children's dower
- Far brighter than this gaudy melon-flower!

2 quotes for today, I will try to add some more poetry later today. I do not know anything about Charles F Kettering, anyone Know more about him?

Keep on going, and the chances are that you will stumble on something, perhaps when you are least expecting it. I never heard of anyone ever stumbling on something sitting down.

by Charles F. Kettering

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running. Ecclesiastes

So glad that you liked this, I think it is beautiful, I have even thought of asking my daughter if she has the time to copy this into one of her cross stitch presents for me. I wonder if you would put one or two of traditional or modern pieces of Welsh literature on here. My twins went to Uni in wales and then never came back to England to live! One is in the Army so currently based in England but his private house is shared with his brother in Wales.

Hoping we shall have some more postings soon..

Follow Me
by Michelle Newton

Take my hand and follow me
to that place I long to be.
Take my hand and trust my way,
in that place forever stay.
Follow me toward the sand;
we'll run and play, hand in hand.
Take my heart and hold it true;
forever I'll stay close to you.
Seize my words and listen well,
then forever I will tell.
Release your heart and feelings too,
just as I will do for you.
Trust your heart and follow me,
to that place we long to be.

Another one has just popped into my head,

Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery,
To day is a gift...
That's why its called the present.

Greenfingers, that is wonderful, as I practice yoga I love these proverbs. Hope you like this;

The first step
is an irrevocable decision,
for it contains within it
the whole journey.

Sanskrit Proverb

For yesterdays but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision
But today well lived
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow is a vision of hope
Look well therefore to this day

Spanisheyes, I love the food thing, especially Miss Piggy.
Green fingers, the favourite toy is lovely, also the Robert Louis Stevenson.
W.B. Yeats is one of my favourite poets, I love this one.

The song of Wandering Aengus

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hookd a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars wher flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
and caught a little silver trout,
When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire aflame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
I had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.
Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow hads and hilly lands.
I will find out where she has gone
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluch till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

William Butler Yeats.

Whilst I love to read poetry of all kinds last night I decided there was nothing on the box so I would tidy up my noticeboard. Underneath the reams of paper pinned onto it I found a cut out poem which has probably been stuck there for at least ten years. I found it in a Sunday paper and it reflected how I felt at the time after separating from my other half.

On a Tired Housewife Anon... presumably when she had died
Here lies a poor woman who was always tired.
She lived in a house where help wasn't hired:
Her last words on earth were:Dear friends, I am going
To where there's no cooking, or washing, or sewing,
For everything there is exact to my wishes,
For where they don't eat there's no washing of dishes,
I'll be where loud anthems will always be ringing,
But having no voice I'll be quit of the singing.
Don't mourn for me now, don't mourn for me never,
I am going to do nothing for ever and ever.'

Good comments and quotes Spanish Eyes. I am proud to be 200 and I don't look a day over 50 !!!!!!!!!!!!

One from me about a special toy

I had a little horse on wheels
Who I named Chloe (Who knows why)
And everywhere that I went she was sure to go
But at each crack in the street
She would fall over at my feet.
My Dad who I called John
Would allways be called upon
To pick her up and make her straight
And woebetide if he was late.
One fateful day as he bent down
Across the street could be heard a ripping sound,
As the seam of his trouser rent from North to South.
Not a word or curse came from his mouth.
My Mum many years later recalled this act,
And said it was just as well he was wearing his mac !
It covered his "embarrassment" and so much more
Or else he might have been carted off by the law .
All for the sake of a childhood toy much loved by me,
At the ancient age of only 3 !!
