Thank you for your delightful reply, Isn't it a pleasant change to read how content / happy people are in their marriage. I have been married twice and would never decry my first husband, we simply grew away from each other in a determination to improve the standard of life we had as children. I will never say that we do not still love each other because we do and on occasions friends and family have commented on this, but living together would not work for us or our children. So I feel twice blessed and know how lucky I am. Next month when my son has a blessing of his marriage which is formal Army style OH will b e treated in just the same way as his natural father and nobody will be upset or angry, annoyed etc..
We look forward to hearing abut the wedding plans, the big day etc. Thank you also for your remark about the poems.
Linda, I will copy this into one of my books, it says so much and each time I read it, I learn something else.

Those were both lovely Spanish Eyes..love is all around us, I wouldn't swop my man for anybody. He took on me, a widow, with 2 teenages nearly 19years ago, and has been the rock of our lives. I shall be so proud when he takes our daughter (for she is his, she has known him longer than her late dad) down the aisle this summer. Its true what they say you do nt have to have the biological link, anyone can do that, it takes a real man to be a real dad..........We're in our sixties too and love still blooms

The basic thing is that everyone wants happiness, no one wants suffering. And happiness mainly comes from our own attitude, rather than from external factors. If your own mental attitude is correct, even if you remain in a hostile atmosphere, you feel happy.

Another favourite.
"I wish I could remember that first day"
by Christina Rossetti
I wish I could remember that first day, First hour, first moment of your meeting me, If bright or dim the season, it might be Summer or Winter for aught I can say; So unrecorded did it slip away, So blind was I to see and to foresee, So dull to mark the budding of my tree That would not blossom yet for many a May. If only I could recollect it, such A day of days! I let it come and go As traceless as a thaw of bygone snow; It seemed to mean so little, meant so much; If only now I could recall that touch First touch of hand in hand – Did one but know!
So poignant.

Bye now you will all most likely know that I adore living by the sea. and not because I can swim in it because I cannot swim!! but there is a great pull for me to be able to see the sea and when I found this poem earlier today I was not sure whether to post it or not. But, OH and I although in our sixties are sill very much in love and love each other in every way and every day., We are far from sloppy and would never embarrass anyone but I felt as I read this that it was special and so I am posting it before I change my mind!!
The Sea.
The sea, the sea: calling out to you and me Waves rush in to caress the sand Only to roll out again
The sea, the sea: calmness in its water But in one fowl swoop The calm has turned sour
The sea, the sea: breezes clear as day Salty air meets our lips Longer, will we stay?
The sea, the sea: soft sand beneath our feet Breeze cooling our hot hands One look at your eyes and I Know
The sea, the sea: our ally and friend The seascape drawing us in In triumph, two sweethearts together Creating Minstrels in the sand.

Todays' poem from me
Friends
A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift. A friend is someone we treasure for our friendship is a gift. A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty, joy, and grace. And makes the whole world we live in a better and happier place.
- Jean Kyler McManus
Looking forward to some more entries......I hope

This caught my arrention this morning when I was browsing on the web.
“Don't ever become a pessimist, Ira; a pessimist is correct oftener than an optimist, but an optimist has more fun--and neither can stop the march of events.”
I like the idea of fun.

NiggleNellie House moving is always exhausting unless someone else can do all the packing and unpacking, especially if you have lived somewhere for a long time, so just keep going but have a regular break even if it is only for 10 or 15 minutes and I found that keeping a book where you write down everything you have packed or disposed of to be essential. Also number the boxes and Write in VERY BIG LETTERS what is in each box, Saves hours of frustration, believe me,! I also put which room each box is destined for.
I have moved 11 times and have also had five different holiday homes as well. Now I know that there will be a lot of people who have moved far more often than that but simply wanted to show that I understand what hard work it can be!

1. We could PM all those who have posted on here to see if they will join in, 2. set a date for all entries to be in. 3. All entries to be posted on here, within a specified time scale. 4. Could have two votes one for poems and one for quotes, 5. Would need three people to help with one being an adjudicator for any "difficulties". 6. Announcement of winner within 5 days of final entry. 7. Contact all people who have posted on here and ask if the will participate.
8. Have some fun and maybe someone could write a poem just for the winner as their prize,
Other ideas welcome.
Well I am now going to make a second cup of coffee but will look in later and and a poem or saying, Bye for now everyone.

House moving is proving VERY wearing, so I thought this poem rather appropriate!!
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low, and debts are high, You want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit - Rest if you must, but don't you quit, Life is queer with it's twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a felllow turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out, Don't give up though the pace seems slow - You may succeed with another blow, Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victory's cup; And he learned to late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown, Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit, - It's when things seem worst that you musn't quit.

When I finished my last message I wondered what I could add next. It took me only a couple of minutes to find this poem for what I call my Cyber Friends!
On The Wings of A Butterfly by Christine McClimans.
Your friendship is special Like the flowers that bloom, Or when a butterfly emerges From within its cocoon...
You remind me of that butterfly, Loving and free, Bright and colorful, For the world to see...
We will share sunshine and rainbows; Sometimes, the rain and the snow; We'll stand together through it, While the cold winds blow...
When the time is right, We won't stop to ask "Why?" Our friendship will take flight On the wings of a butterfly

With all the recent interest in the Super moon, I was reminded of a poem we had to learn in junior school.....
Silver
Slowly, silently, now the moon Walks the night in her silver shoon; This way, and that, she peers, and sees Silver fruit upon silver trees; One by one the casements catch Her beams beneath the silvery thatch; Couched in his kennel, like a log, With paws of silver sleeps the dog; From their shadowy coat the white breasts peep Of doves in a silver-feathered sleep; A harvest mouse goes scampering by, With silver claws, and silver eye; And moveless fish in the water gleam, By silver reeds in a silver stream.

Poem from Lewis Carroll
Jaberwocky
Twas brillig and the slithy toves Did gyre abd gimble in the wabe All mimsy were the borogroves And the mome raths outgrabe
Beware the Jaberwock,my son! The jaws that bite the claws that catch Beware the jubjub bird and shun The frumious Bandersnatch
He took his vorpal sword in hand Long time the manxome foe he sought So rested he by the Tumtum tree And stood a while in thought
And, as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock with eyes of flame Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came !
One,two ! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack He left it dead, and with its head He went galumping baack
"And has thou slain the Jabberwock ? Come to my arm, my beamish boy ! Oh frabjous day ! Callooh ! Callay !" He chortled in his joy.
Twas brillig and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe All mimsy were the borogroves, And the mome raths outgrabe
Why is it I understand every word, its like a nightmare, but so right somehow, or am I peculiar !!!!!!!!!! And we say galumping now so a new word invented by Lewis ?

nice to hear from you Greenfingers and I like your quotes. Sometimes I feel rather like Alice! The sun is shining here at last as we have had bad weather for the last 4 weeks and rain almost everyday last week and this I think we had some of the most torrential storms we have had for sometime.
Have to go and finish my french polishing now which I do each t=year since we moved to Spain because the heat dries out the oak wood. I thoroughly enjoy doing it and stepping back to admire my own work, now how sad is that!
