As this is Mother's Day I thought that I would add this:

In the quiet moments when the hurt is hard to bear,
May love become your shelter,
And may the beauty of precious memories be your comfort.

I hope this thread continues as well. I have been going through a lot of poetry books, most of which belonged to my mother,as well as 'The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations' and have found some real gems, as well as refreshing my memory at the same time!!

Spanish Eyes. You might like this one or perhaps you already know it. It's called 'Nod' by Walter De La Mare.

Softly along the road of evening,
In a twilight dim with rose,
Wrinkled with age, and drenched with dew,
Old Nod, the shepherd, goes.

His drowsy flock streams on before him,
Their fleeces charged with gold,
To where the sun's last beam leans low
On Nod the shepherd's fold.

The hedge is quick and green with brier,
From their sand the cronies creep;
And all the birds that fly in heaven
Flock singing home to sleep.

His lambs outnumber a noon's roses,
Yet, when night's shadows fall,
His blind old sheep-dog, Slumber-soon,
Misses not one of all.

His are the quiet steeps of dreamland,
The waters of no more pain,
His ram's bell rings 'neath an arch of stars,
'Rest, rest, and rest again'

I have just found this called 'Pippa's Song', which I would like to share with you:

The year's at Spring,
The day's at the morn,
Morning's at seven;
The hill-side's dew-pearl'd;
The Lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in his heaven-
All's right with the world.

Green fingers, you made me laugh out loud...oh so right.

I wonder if this has now come to an end, what do you think. If so any ideas as to what could be next as I feel that there are a small group of us who would stay in touch

I have to go out now but will be back this evening or tomorrow.

Have a good day everyone

This quotation came to mind and I'll let you fathom out why !!!!!

Oscar Wilde said

The play was a great success, the audience was a disaster

I will post my choices either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I hope that most people will join in this bit of fun.
Today the weather is beautiful, and the sun is shining ,there is a very slight breeze and the sea is blue and calm. Today we had a visitor, a relative of one of the ladies I cared for when I was last working. He had asked for my address some time before I left the UK and was delighted when he called a few days ago to ask if he could drop bye to say hello.

Hope everyone is well
