Hmmm and not like my daughter's experience when she broke her leg. Went back to hospital for a check up and when the doctor for that day looked at her medical report he glanced down at her leg in plaster and said, "This is interesting, you have broken your left leg, this report said it was your right leg. Must be your left leg that's the one in plaster"!!

She never does anything by halves, does she? Tsk, tsk ;-)

Lets hope they put a big arrow with 'this one' on the correct leg!

Oooer. There's a name we haven't seen for a while on here!

Not sure how she would (if she were here of course), respond to be called a 'poor old thing' though! I thought everyone knew she was a woman in her Prime! Certainly couldn't be beaten at the research game.

Sorry to hear about her mishap......I bet she's not enjoying the inconvenience it must be causing her.

Wishing her a speedy recovery and hoping that the surgeon has a steady hand!

Cx :-D

Oh Janey you poor old thing. Never mind, the nice doctors will fix you up and put a comfortable cast on your poor sore leg. Everyone you know will be able to write their name on the cast, and decorate it with pretty pictures.

I hope you are back on both legs before too long and wish you a speedy recovery from this unfortunate misadventure.

Lots of hugs and best wishes and I hope the needles don't hurt too much.

Well here we are over a year later... all having survived their pyrex stories and others....
And having survived the pyrex and no she has not fallen over her pyjama bottoms...

No the poor love has slipped on some wet lino and has broken her leg and surgery has been suggested... no they are not going to amputate from the neck down or the neck up...

Surgery will be at 3pm GMT Wednesday and I am sure a lot of you will want to wish her well.

Cheers Persie

I just find it too 'ard.

This week cleared out my study of 30 years of client's tax stuff (and I only did it part time!). Result is bags full of shredded paper. Can't go in anything. Must be taken to the tip. Landfill. However, been told it makes great fuel for a wood-burning stove.

We have pink bag for recycled stuff, green bag for garden rubbish collected fortnightly and black bag for household stuff collected weekly

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Feb 2011 23:27

re being green

we are somewhat similar to you

we have ...............

a blue bag for paper ..... newsprint, magazines, stationery etc, but not cardboard

a yellow bag for cardboard .... but not corrugated cardboard

a blue box for plastics (some but not all) glass, cans

a wheelie bin for garbage

a wheelie for garden waste, and now can also put household compost in there, including cooked meat

Garden waste is picked up every 2 weeks. others are all picked up every week

Day of pick up moves forward 1 day when we have a Stat Holiday, and then stays there until the next Stat Holiday. It moves 2 days if we have a 2-day Stat (eg at Christmas and Easter)

......... so we have to have a calendar to keep us on track.

Bags don't stand up either!

we don't have a large house, but it does have a basement, where we can "hide" most of these things!

Change of plan re Chatsworth. Discovered that Hubby's "Short Walks with Pub Lunch Group" is on 12th April, so they are all coming to Chatsworth. And I am feeding them all in my yet-to-be-purchased awning for lunch. It's an old folks group, so I will need chairs for some (can manage 4), and hot soup, buffet main course, any ideas for a pud? Thought of stewed apples and custard. Any more ideas, folks?

I am mad.

Sylvia, this "green" stuff is a bloody nuisance. I have a big house, heaven help those who don't. In the Utility room are bins for paper, cardboard (we can't mix them), plastic, tins. But plastic can only be certain types, and they only collect once a fortnight, and the bags spill over, and boxes don't work, and I am fed up with the junk.

Down in Redditch (is Brummie Jan on this thread?), they just chuck it all in one container, and it gets sorted for them.

Microwaved veg sorted with bags. Tesco. Hob/oven dish sorted with stainless steel pan with handle removed, assuming oven-proof knob on lid. Not found one yet, 20cm max.

Damned hard work all this convenience stuff.
