Our two tins of Germolene ointment are almost empty - you may remember the wonderfully clean smell of the contents. We bought a tube of Germolene some while since, but it does not smell so clean, and healing, and is not a patch on the old stuff. |

Try googling for it. We found basilicon ointment by doing that. We have always used it for a drawing ointment and to remove splinters, which my OH is always suffering. |

Thanks for your reply Jean. I have googled it, and yes, Germolene is available in tubes, same pink ointment as in tins. The Germolene we got in a tube was white. |

Lindain - didn't realise there was a difference in the tubes of Germolene - you live and learn. |

I bought some Snowfire fairly recently. You have to ask for it though as it doesnt seem to be on show. |

Dinnefords and gripe water were always my favourites. I used them for hangovers when I was probably old enough to know better than get them! |

I can remember most of those remedies. The Germolene in the tin smelled lovely - it was known as the pink ointment in my family. |
