Jill in France Report 18 May 2011 21:06

Good evening to you all.
Sylvia, we are going to live on the Isle of Man; its UK but not really as own laws , tax and money even though UK money is also used :) But need to sell house first so no rush :)
Been making lots of tiny secret books with Friendly Plastic covers, fiddly but very pretty when done.

xx Jill

Jill what are the tiny secret books for? Can you send a photo of one to put on my blog? I am sure people would be interested.

Sylvia, lovely to see your photo. I am sure a ground floor flat will be convenient for you especially as it is near all facilities. But poor Johan having to sell his tools.

Will have to take a photo and send as cannot put on FB or my blog as they are gifts for the forum girls at the meet up.
They are tiny meander booklets(5inch x5 inch to start with) done with copy paper with Friendly Plastic softened and bits added then stamped for the covers with ribbon ties.
Have made 15 and just doing another 4 to be on the safe side :)

Well Jill, your books sound very intriguing (spelling???) would like to see them too.
Well today we went to see the "new" house. It is quite roomy for an old people's living and I felt a little less claustrophobic about the move.
We won't have to discard so much after all.
We had coffee in the canteen and met a Scotswoman working there. She comes from Prestwick. My pedicurist's husband is also Scottish - from Aberdeen.
It has been a beautiful sunny day today and tomorrow it is supposed to be even warmer.
Have a nice evening everybody.

Sylvia, that all sounds very positive for the move and if it means you can keep more of your things that will be great. When would you have to move by, will it be soon. Don't envy you all the packing, but I always think it is easier than the unpacking!!
Weather has been lovely here today after the rain we had yesterday, but another very cold evening.

Hi Jo,
We have to move soon, possibly July. I had my help in today and she cleared out a cupboard for me containing vases and plant pot holders. I have only kept a few. She took some for herself and for her sister and the rest will go to the charity shop.
I am pleased I made a lot of cards as my neighbour came today and bought 10 from me.
Have a nice weekend

Morning ladies, (just noticed that it is afternoon!!) hope you are all enjoying your weekend, weather here again sunny but windy today. Just watching all the birds in the garden so many fighting over the food I have put out, the robins, thrushes, blackbirds, blue tits chaffinch and great tits have all fledged and we seem to have lots of starlings that have arrived from somewhere I know they are not nesting in my garden they are so noisy!

Off now to make a 90th birthday card and still have quite a few to make for June, also have an order for 6 quiches to make for tomorrow as a favour for my niece just wish I got paid for doing them!!

Have a lovely weekend all of you

Hi all,
Yes, things are really moving now. I have been packing things away and t hrowing things out inbetween having the district nurse come in and give my bladder a rinse out.
My help in the house has offered to work some extra time for me and said she doesn't want to be paid for it, just to help me out. Also her sister wants to do my garden. So many kind people around!
Enjoy the sun everyone.

Sylvia, sounds like things are getting exciting for you, does this mean you will have a garden in your mew place. Your home help sounds like a lovely person and the extra help she will give you will come in very handy. Hope the bladder rinse out so often is working for you and making you feel a little better and letting you eat a little better.
Weather here awful today, soooo windy and heavy rain this afternoon, but the sun is now shining again, but still cold.

Hi ladies, I have been asked to pass on a message from Christine in OZ.

She is away on holiday for 8 weeks!!!!! lucky her, I have seen pictures of where she is going and it is just fabulous, but one down fall no shops within miles and miles so you have to take everything you need with you when you go. Anyway the point of the message is to tell you that she has posted any birthday cards that are due between now and the end of July already so if you receive yours very early you will know why and that she has not got terribly confused!!

Hi all,
Well just come up for air after packing, throwing things out etc.etc.
On Sunday I had terrific pain in my stomach and a horrible feeling that it was to do with the catheter I have to wear at the moiment.
Johan couldn't see anything so we phoned the emergency services and the district nurse came and told me that my catheter was blocked and therefore my urine wasn't able to leave me and I had a build up. I had a male nurse which I didn't like having, but when you are in such pain you are pleased somebody is helping you. He rinsed out my bladder and since then it is ok.
I am glad that Johan is still with me or I'd never manage on my own.

I have just sorted out some cards for the birthday girls in June. I see there are two for 10th June and that is my daughter's birthday too.
Now I will try and keep up adding here so until I write again.
Love and best wishes Sylvia xxx :-)

Sylvia, glad to hear that the nurse managed to sort you out, male nurses feel strange for a start but you soon get used to them, I had a male midwife for one of my children.
Good to hear that your packing is going well moving house can be very stressful, so make sure you take care of yourself.
I am trying to finish my cards for the month of June, have 3 70th, 2 40th 2 anniversary and various other birthdays so must get a move on to get them finished.

I see Dawn Bibby has moved to Create and Craft, now that should be interesting.

Sylvia, glad that the nurse was able to sort you out. I suppose a male nurse is no different to a male doctor really. Yes, must get my cards sorted as well.

Hi all,
Well what a day. I had my youngest daughter Susan and her husband here to help as it is a holiday here today - Ascension Day.
Susan has been a great help, inbetween the "can I throw this out", no wonder you cannot find anything". "What do you need this for".
Susan paid me so many compliments too about my beautiful cards and, talking to her father, Ï don't know how mummy manages to cook such delicious meals in such an untidy kitchen.
I made a delicious thick soup today and some toasties for lunch. Rene was going cycling this evening so cannot eat too late. He is soon going to do a castle tour of 4 castles, some 300 kilometres. What a sportsman he is. When Susan and Rene were married he was football mad, playing the role of goalkeeper. He now goes skating on the lakes in the winter and then of course there is the cycling. When we had a bad winter he did our famous "11 stedentocht". That is 11 towns tour on skates - and he finished it with a medal twice.
Funny enough Susan is not a sportswoman at all.
Oh well, I'd better stop here or I'd go on and on and on.
Have a nice evening.
How is the house selling going Jill?

Sylvia, how nice for you to have Susan to help you with things. She sounds as if she has you weighed up with the 'can I throw this out?' etc. But also good that she appreciates your cooking. Lovely to have the children with you sometimes isn't it?

Hi all,
Another busy day, but that is the story of my life I think.
I went to the market today as my cupboard was the proverbial Mother Hubbard cupboard this morning.
This afternoon a telephone call from Susan to say they were coming again this afternoon to help me. I thought here we go again with our throwing out. "Mummy, you don't knit any more, so why are you keeping these knitting needles". A good question Susan, but I do knit now and again and you cannot buy English knitting needles here, or at least I haven't seen any.
Another little argy bargy until they finally went around 6.00 pm. They have been wonderful helpers.
My other daughter has phoned apparently to say that when we move she will be staying for a few days here in Almere, I think she will sleep at my granddaughter's house.
I am so glad it is Saturday tomorrow, no district nurse, no doctors, maybe not so early up!
Enjoy the sunshine everybody,. for we don't know how long it is going to last, do we?
Sylvia xxx :-)
