Thanks for news of Christine and Jackie Jo, They certainly are having problems.

HeatherinLeicestershire Report 8 Feb 2011 17:02

Glad to hear Jac & Christine are safe and well x
It is terrible weather they're having, we think we get it bad here but I wouldn't like to go through floods, typhoon or fire...... doesn't bear thinking about.

Jojo hope your back gets better soon, nothing worse than back pain x

I've managed to send atc's : ) they gave me a little mojo boost, it seems to have got lost after christmas. I'm looking at joining another online swap soon, just for ideas really and to get me back into the swing of crafting.

Happy crafting everyone & take care x

Sounds like a good idea Heather, swapping cards and ATC's certainly give you inspiration and make you get down to get them completed. Halfway through my Feb ATC's need to work out a finish for them though.
Like to look at all the different shape/style of cards that are around at the moment.

Anyone else ever made a card which seemed a good idea at the time? I spent all afternoon making a card from a template in Papercraft Inspirations. It actually turned out quite well but halfway through I did wish that I had never started it Lol!!!!

Jo Jo

Jo Jo Report 12 Feb 2011 12:48

YES!!!! at least you finished the card, I have several that I have started and gave up on half way through. Sometimes the picture looks fantastic and is described as being easy to make, well, some are just the opposite. I have bought kits from QVC which looked fantastic but when I got them home realised that I had made a mistake. Could open a shop with the crafting materials I do not use! Worst mistake for me was the Xyron Design Runner bought it when it first came out cost a fortune and because it was not demonstrated properly by DB on QVC just could not get it to put the image where I wanted it to go. Have watched the shows on C&C and with a much better demo know now how to work it properly. But still have not used it properly and I see that the basic machine is now being advertised for only £17.99 on C&C magazine.

Luckilt this didn't cost anything more than the magazine but it was the patience needed (which is in short supply here) with, I suppose it was paper piecinf. Lots of little fiddly bits to fit together. still it looks OK. Not worth the effort really though.

Well it is saturday once again and also Carnaval. The only trouble is that it is raining, just a good steady rain which would just soak you if you stayed out in it. Ooh, let me stay here indoors. I can just see all those partygoers dancing the streets in the rain, beer in hand and singing carnaval songs. My granddaughter is one of them, but then again she is young, but you have older men and women doing it too.
Well my doctor phoned me y esterday and said she had contacted a gereatric hospital and they want to take me in for a week to give me all sorts of tests. She said have I any objections. I replied that I was pleased that they were going to do something at last. She said there were also dement patients there, which I felt a little uneasy about and hope that these are locked up at night. Now just wait!
Johan bought me a beautiful bunch of various pink roses in a vase inside black carrier with pink tulle cloth. They are so beautiful. He had been shoping and I had forgotten to ask him to bring some flowers but he had himself remembered. He gave them to me when my hairdresser and neighbour were here and I burst out crying It was so emotional. Johan never bought me flowers and now I get a bunch quite often. This weekend it is valentine's Day so flowers are more expensive. I told my daughter about her romantic father and we laughed about it. She said does he know it is Valentine's day? I said of course not. He is not a romanticus.
Now must get down to making a few cards.
Have a nice weekend. Love from Sylvia xxx

Sylvia what a lovely surprise and they sound gorgeous you are so lucky to have a husband that buys you flowers for no reason other than because he wants to.
Well it looks like your doctor is determined to get you sorted out. A week in the hospital should hopefully get to the bottom of all your problems. Let us know when you go in. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for a great outcome.
Weather is awful here too today. wind and rain and more wind and rain feels so cold but I think that is because it is so damp.
Take care all of you

Good morning to you all from a very overcast Maine et Loire.
Our fist lambs of the year arrived a week ago so we are spending time watching the other four for signs of lambs arriving :)
Craft classes have just notched up two years and think we have done a different project most weeks, my ladies are quite happy to do some repeats as they can not remember the earlier cards made plus different stamps , papers and other stuff can be used to make them different.
Don't know if I passed this tip on but instead of buying new B mats for the cuttlebug, cut up some old cutting mats, A4 into two, A3 into four, lots cheaper or even buy a cheap A4 and cut . I use them all the time and as I use lots of dies with mine the real B mats gets so badly marked.
We have our for people for the Gite arrive early March so fingers crossed that's a sign for a good year.
We had third grandson born last month to Johns daughter in Ireland so will be a while before we see him but all are doing well.
Rémi is coming over with Kelly for Mothering Sunday and my son is joining them so really looking forward to seeing them.
Jo, Caroles birthday last Sept, I had posted a card, well, I received it back last week !!! I had put the first two lines of her address then my eyes had skipped a line and the rest was Flo's !!!! Can you please let her know as not sure if she comes on here and think its a bit late to resend it after it has been sitting in the UK post office for over three months, luckily, I had put my address on the back. This was before you started sending out the lists of who had sent so I had no idea , oops
Hope everyone's keeping well
xx Jill

Jill, thanks for the info regarding B mats I am/was just about to buy one but will certainly try this will save a lot of money, mine is marked badly but has also very bent.
Congratulations on the new Grandson lets hope you get to give him lots of cuddles very soon. Are your lambs early this year, for some reason I thought yours normally arrived just before Easter. Sounds like your craft workshops are doing really well and to come up with something different each time must be very difficult.
We don't have a member called Carole with a birthday in September, did you mean Sue Cole or Carole in January let me know and I will let them know.

Jill in France Report 16 Feb 2011 08:49

Jo, I am going round the bend :)) Sue is who I mean, was thinking of her surname Cole and then Carole came into my head, if you have seen my photo on FB you will know I am blonde :))
I use cutting mats a lot for dies as need lots for my classes, so find using cutting mats better as then I keep two cleaner ones for my embossing folders.
I am addicted to some of the Marrianne die sets and the flower with flourishes need to be cut at least a 100 times as every colour combination is needed, my ladies (and gent ) use these a lot as embellishments
I should use my Cricut but do love some of the other dies that are available including all the Paper Artsy flower dies that look gorgeous done in metal.
Our lambs are a little earlier because we didn't separate our rams, so when the females came into season it was all go out there :))
We kept them apart in the past as we went skiing and needed to know that we wouldn't have lambs arriving but we had to cancel last year due to S'Jenna, being so ill and then never got round to putting the rams away in August. Plus, exchange rate to Canada is not like it was, that it makes it a very expensive ski trip so will save the pennies :)

Jill I have sent an email to Sue.

Up to last week I had never hear of Marrianne for dies and then I saw a card made with her Butterflies dies on pearl paper and it looked fantastic so detailed and intricate, loved it, have since looked up the dies on ebay to see what is on offer and they all look great. Will have to look for the flower flourishes have not seen that one. Just need to save up now to buy some!!
Hope the rest of the lambing goes well.

Jill, so a good time was had by all then (rams I mean!!!)

The dies sound lovely. I am naughty and a bit lazy and must really get round to using dies from the cuttlebug more. I am too lazy to get it down off the shelf and find somewhere to put it while I use it. What would be good but impossible is a permanent table to put it on.

Marianne do a set with a frame, two flowers with a centre piece plus a flourish for about £15 and this makes a really good value set as lots to use.
Wish you ladies could see my craft room as no matter what space you have ( I seat 6 ) its still not enough :)) Its only tidy before classes on Monday and Friday but I do know where everything is:))
I do have lots of storage and shelves plus copy all my lovely paper pads on to A4 good quality paper and keep them in files for my classes to use.
I keep telling John that I need the gite as my craft area but he is not impressed with that idea :))

Thank you for letting Sue know

Ladies has anyone seen the foiling machine that has been on sale on C&C. You print out your image or writing in black when dry apply a piece of foil and run through machine and it comes out like a professional card, at £140 too much money for me, but I will save up as it looked fabulous.

Jill at least you know where everything is, I keep packing mine away when we need the dinning room table and although I do have a cupboard that is all shelved and full of labeled A4 boxes I still cannot fit everything in so the rest gets sent up stairs and then I can never find what I am looking for. Really do need to go through everything I have and probably sell what I do not use.

The set from Marianne sounds lovely, where do you buy yours from?

Jill in France Report 18 Feb 2011 10:07

Jo, the foiling machine sounds good but not at that price, I wouldn't get the use from it to justify it. I do use foil and gilding flakes so will stick with those :)
Try Cuddly Buddly as postage is brill plus very good service or else Craft Barn, another great site.
I am going to the Craft Barn weekend in June, there will be 4 demo halls with all day free demos from lots of well known names. I am meeting up with the ladies from Cardmaking in Paradise and we even have ladies joining us from NZ and OZ. Well worth going to if Lingfield in Surrey is within reach.
We are all staying at a Premier Inn in East Grinstead for the two nights so will be manic :)

Jill I have bought from Cuddly Buddly before very fast service, so will go there to have a look what they have.
Sounds like you will have a lovely time in Lingfield in June have never heard of the place so will have to look it up.

Well my TV has decided to die on me today, so that is more unexpected expense to pay out, will it ever end. Off now to look for a new one, pity the vat has just gone up.....
