Only a few weeks ago OH was relating from his childhood, he was an only child and his mother was in her thirties (as many are now) however when he was only 2 yrs old she lost her leg in an accident. He said he used to feel embarassed by the difference in his mum and all the younger mothers wearing high heels etc that his friends had. She not only seemed older but was older.

Their sexuality does not worry me but as I said in my posting earlier on this thread - the age. Although I have read in the papers since that David is 48 not 58.

I used to work with a young girl who was about 17/18. Her mother was in her late thirties but her father was nearer 70 and this did embarrass her - I know because she confided in me.

My mother was 37 when she had me, at 48 I can remember her playing rounders with me in the fields, at 58 she took up ballroom dancing again and won medals, she worked, she walked everywhere at great speed, for miles and miles lol...I could never match her for that even in my 20s.

Children are ALWAYS embarrassed by their mothers and or fathers at some point, I remember my brother saying my mum should not buy false eyelashes ( age 48 but she looked 35) ... children are like that, especially in front of other children ...if they can't deal with having an older parent tough lol, there's much worse waiting out there to deal with.

Better to have a decent parent for 20/30 years than a rotten one for 60? I think so.

Thank you Janet. RR - i suggest it is a downward spiral because like every 'liberal' concept in the last fifty years it has some merit in itself, but all taken together have led to a downturn in our lives as i see it. (prisons; schools and the like)

This cannot be taken as a one off but will be used as precedent by many others. and will be gradually and certainly taken to extremes. Once a door is opened, it will never be closed again.

Happy days

I am sure that the couple have many female friends who will become female role models if needed. The child is much wanted and will be much loved that is the important thing, then there will be the money which will give him a good life, not as important as love and security but it helps a lot.

Elton &David have the outlook of a much younger people and live in circles where everything is accepted,,,Zac will have more female company than he needs and his parents of who they are wont one iota influence Zacs own sexual preference when of age.

I think its better that a child is brought up with two same sex parents from the outset than it get to a teenager when a parent announces they are gay and leaves.!

Children in hetrosexual relationships can have a rotten abusive time.

Its not just to love a child,,but unconditional love thats the most important in any child life.

-----------
Harry the gates were legally opened in 1927 when they allowed legal adoptions to loving sexual abusive males.!!

Harry

Harry Report 29 Dec 2010 19:46

Kay,

And in 1927 they envisaged two males adopting children? The gates were opened just yesterday and many other cases will follow, human rights etc.
Would think that is a fact whether you are for or against. the precedent has been setand their is no going back.

Happy days

Harry, you're ill-informed. Laws about adoption by same sex couples were brought in about five years ago.

This isn't adoption - it's surrogacy and has been happening for years.

Thank you for that Uggers.

Mildred - everyone is entitled to an opinion. Mine is honest and represents what I think of the situation. Seems to me your comment means that anyone who doesn't agree with you shouldn't be allowed to oppose a situation. Freedom of speech not so much of it in this country these days. Oh aye, one of my friends is gay

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 29 Dec 2010 21:14

Not for us to judge - although other people's opinions are always interesting. Their age is my only concern but having said that - better two parents who want and love their child than an unhappy childhood with 'conventional' parents who live a bitter and loveless life.

I have friends Ronald, their sexual orientation doesn't come into it.

I don't care if your opinion is honest, its rude, & homophobic & uncalled for..

It's my opinion Mildred NOT yours. Seems to me you want everyone to agree with you. Dictatorship - you obviously do not agree with freedom of speech. Wot a sad person you are

If we were all the same what a boring world it would be!!!
l have 3 members of my close family that are gay/lesbians...l can assure you they are all extremely good.caring, law abiding, decent human beings. One has never wanted children, another would dearly love to have children, but they both have to work, the other one has a child and they are brilliant parents, better than alot of hetrosexual parents!!!!
We can't choose our sexuality, we are born the way we are and its time people realised this. Its often pressure from "what should be" that causes so much heartache.
Good luck to Elton and David:o))

I dont give a toss Ronald if anyone agrees with me or not. II also dont give a toss what you think about me, or what you think I agree with or not.

As for being sad, maybe you need to look in the mirror & judge yourself before you judge others in such a putrid way.

Goodnight

Ronald are you the same 'Ronald' who threw some very offensive personal comments at a very respected lady who disagreed with your bigoted remarks a few months ago?

That's a hypothetical question by the way :).

Kay????

Kay???? Report 29 Dec 2010 23:05

Ronald has put how he feels about it and it should be respected thats his opinion, his just differs from most.

It has to be accepted not all see eye to eye on all matters, his opinion is a valid as everyone elses.
