11.45 South East Essex
Been snowing for the past 3 days, over a foot deep in the garden.
We were supposed to have been going on a coach trip up to London to see Les Miserables but we don't think we can get to the coach station- never mind getting home at midnight!

11.25 am, Kent/East Sussex border.
The snow in the garden comes over the top of my wellies! Have to take the dogs out for a drag soon, they don't want to go out, and my poor hens need some water as theirs is frozen.
I picked hubby up at the station last night - got there in the Landrover about 10.30 pm after a 15 mile drive through deep snow and his train arrived about 3 hours later. So much for the High Speed train! It was minus 5 but I had taken blankets and a spade, just in case. We towed a small car out of a ditch for a family and also towed a very smart BMW sports car around a corner and up a gentle hill as it was wheel-spinning. I said to OH that since the government charges 4x4 owners around £400 for car tax, maybe we should get a reduction for each time we help someone else out! If the roads are dangerous, and small, carbon-friendly, fuel economical cars can't cope with road conditions permitted by the government...... there's a thought for the next time a politician comes knocking on the door.
OH has just set off to drive to Eltham to collect our son whose uni lectures have been cancelled and of course can't get a train. He has even more supplies and is worthy of a polar expedition. Not expecting them back for hours. Fingers crossed.

11:20 East Kent, just outside Dover Made it to work but very iffy on roads. Have 10 inches on table in back garden and about 6 inches on roads etc. Traffic moving but road conditions very bad, public transport seems to have died and gone heaven but port and channel tunnel running intermittantly. No school today and kids having fun. Hubby and kids have taken elderly neighbours dog for a walk as we did at the beginning of the year and we will do so until this clears. He has also checked with other neighbours to see if they need anything. Snowing heavily on and off so can't see it clearing in the near future.

Think you might want to change your name? Maybe in a wooly hat or bobble hat.
Have a safe day everyone.
Can't believe that Gatwick is closed all day again, saying til 6:00 am Fri now.

Kitty~~~
That was very kind of you,I don't have a spare room , but like you would have offered them refuge .
It's1.50am here in S Wales near Ebbw Vale, last snow we had was about 3pm about an inch, but it was minus 5 degrees at 9am this morning with a bitter wind.:(
It's now minus one ( just brought the thermomater in .lol) Cloudy sky.
Dau has to drive to work tomorrow and she's not looking forward to it, she normally goes with her dad, as they work in the same town. I had to get to used to driving in bad weather very quickly having to transport my children to mil when I was at work, and it doesn't bother me ,
Sandie.

Gritters only doing main roads so far as they can, and a village in Midlothian closed off. No need for a snow machine here lololol

7.14 pm we have snow laying here, but not a lot. The roads are clear, even our cul-de-sac, as OH went down to the slope at the entrance and gritted the road there so vehicles could get up. He does this every year though he is disabled and 75. The young just wont see in front of their noses. The mobile library which comes every three weeks managed to get here today, which is a miracle. The first sign of trouble and the van goes off the road. We are lucky compared to other parts of the country, but I see looking out, that the tyre tracks in the road are covered again Temp 0.2 ouside my window.

17:31 East Kent, just outside Dover Bitterly cold all day - had to be at work for 0700 today and managed to negotiate way off estate in 4x4, solid icy crushed compacted snow. Picked up kids from school - totally disgusted with council as car park near school, footpath to school and road outside not gritted again, all compacted ice, accident waiting to happen. Fine snow off and on all day and strong winds whipping lying snow off fields. Still no heating hopefully be fixed tomorrow pm which will be 8 days since boiler packed up - not a happy bunny.
