No snow here today, nice bit of sun to look at, but freezing cold. Temp outside is just down to freezing. Was lying on the bed with my feet up as instructed, so didnt put the heating on again after 1pm as i was snuggled under a fleece blanket doing crossstitch. But i got too cold even then and had to get up and put the heating on. Takes me about an hour to warm up, and now i read that people with underactive thyroid are very susceptible to cold. So now I know why my hands are freezing when Oh is nice and warm!

Copied this from Yahoo News

A pensioner is feared to have collapsed in her garden and frozen to death, police have said. body of Lillian Jenkinson, 80, in her back garden in Workington, Cumbria, at 10.40am on Thursday.

The day before an elderly man was also found dead in his garden in Kirby Stephen, also in Cumbria. It is not currently known how long he lay undetected.

So sad, hard to believe this still happens

Sheffield

Beautiful sunny day,no more snow, touch wood, and roads seem a bit clearer but still no buses on our route.

Cats still refuse to go out despite having lovely fur coats.

So,this is global warming then!!

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 3 Dec 2010 14:22

Afternoon from West Berkshire
Still some laying snow, no fresh falls, gritted main roads and local shops have cleared in front of them. Some roads still very icy. Our estate is awful, same as last year no help from the council, the paths are like skating rinks, same on the small roads.
I have finally been to the post office and to the village supermarket to get some fresh bits, and longlife milk, then into our pet shop to get sunflower seeds and peanuts for the birds.
Little with the chickenpox stayed snug in the car with hubby. Couldn't let her out for her own health and anyone else we might have met too.

The garden is now buzzing with bluetits, greenfinches, chaffinches, thrush, blackbirds, redwing, fieldfare, robin, wood pigeon and jay.
They really needed some food and water.

Take care everyone and keep in the warm

Linda :o)

South West Scotland, 11.33 am

The snow has reached us now - we did seem to be the only part of the country to have only had a smattering, was beginning to feel a bit left out! It isn't very deep but the big worry is it freezing on the roads and turning in to black ice.

We have two collies and they just love the snow but hare the grit.

Keep warm everyone.

Loads more snow during the night, gave up trying to clear it a few days ago. The sun's out now, so some of it might melt before the next lot comes down.

It's about 2ft deep on the paths with drifts of about 4ft.

North East............10.49.

Klara, my brother lives at Capel-le Ferne, and he tells me its the same as you say, that was this morning. He was hoping to get to the dentist in Dover, but it sounds as if he probably didnt get there.
Here it snowed again this afternoon, but didnt stick so roads are not bad. Very cold and windy though. Our feral cat is tucked up in his shelter for the night. Since he discovered that it was quite cosy in there he has used it every night, only coming out in time for breakfast.

17:17 East Kent, just outside Dover
Still snowing hard here - about a foot in the garden and sky still yellowy (even though it is dark) so more to come. Chaos all round on roads, no sign of gritters, very few trains and not seen a bus apart from one broken down this morning. Prospect of work again tomorrow, may drive may get lift from OH. Getting fed up now - 3rd time in a year, seems we may be heading for winters like we had 40 years ago, would not be surprised if it continued on and off like this til March, sorry to be a kill-joy. Kent Police have advised freight vehicles not to enter the county unless absolutely necessary but the place is crawling with them trying to get out of the country - mind it won't do them any good as it appears to be just as bad the other side of the Channel!

Hi
We've now had snow in West London.
The pavement outside my house has been gritted by hand.
Two men went along putting the grit down.
I don't know whether we are just lucky or because I live next to a school but either way I'm very grateful.
Well done to Hillingdon council
Take care

Like Julia, lots more snow overnight here in Sheffield. I was faced with a 4ft high drift when I opened my door this morning, the cats won't go out,and I had to plough my way through waist high snow to fill up the bird feeders.

It is reported that there are hundreds of lorries stranded at junction 31 of the M1.

People panic buying in the Co-op this morning, the only thing I am worried about is running out of cat litter, with four cats using it it soon runs out.

Pammy that is a shame. I hope all of you who are snowed in without transport have got enough food, milk etc to keep you going. Still clear here but very murky.

12.02 Derbyshire
It has not stopped snowing, ontop of what we have already had, since I got up this morning. We have been warned off the M1 motorway through the county because of hazardous conditions. The bin men say that the rubbish is freezing in the bins as they cannot get to them. We have had no deliveries of milk or mail since Monday. Hey-ho
