Yes Merlin, I just knew you would have your priorities right, but only one bottleLOL. As regards the pickles, you will have to blame the Royal Mail, they always get busy and behind hand with deliveries at this time of year.LOLOL

Julia Report 1 Dec 2010 11:29

Here in Derbyshire, it is dire. Over 300 schools and colleges closed. Very few buses running. A lorry jack-knifed up the town yesterday tea-time and further up the same road it was totally blocked to Derby itself. All roads out of the north of the county were closed off by yesterday afternoon eg. Snake Pass, Cat and Fiddle, Woodhead Pass. Bin men gave up halfway round yesterday, and did'nt take my bin. Milk man has not got through yet, today. We had another 6-8 inches in the night, ontop of what we already had, and more is forecasted.
The OH was going to attempt to get his German tank made chariot off the drive this morning but has decided to walk it up instead.
My beautifully planted hanging baskets, with winter pansies and cyclamen are now sporting an 8 inch white top hat.
Needless to say, I am staying indoors for the foreseeable future.
Take Care all, and keep warm

PS Just had another little flurry. Heard on local radio that even the weather gal is having to broadcast from her own home as she can't get through to weather HQ in Nottingham, and, she had gone to the local shops for bread and milk, and there was no milk to be had.

Wolverhampton. Had a little more covering overnight, roads were clear and the sky clear early this morning. During the morning, we have had a steady flurry throughout but seems to have held off now although the sky is white so more on the way, I expect. Have been told not far away in Stafford they have about one foot deep and still falling and that it is very slippy. If you have to drive, take care and pack a hot flask and warm coat should you get held up with cars being abandoned!

Nearly three ft deep and horizontal blizzard falling out of the east.

What fun we have! There are still idiots trying to drive through it,getting stuck and causing even more chaos.

Come and live in sunny Sheffield.

Annina, I hear the Derbyshire Mountain Rescue team are on alert. What stupid people would go out hill walking in this lot, endangering not only their own lives but those of the rescuers.
Take Care

Hi Julia, townies, thats who, they have no more sense than they were born with.

Even my cats have the sense to stay in,as long as muggins keeps cleaning their litter tray.

I'm very sad to hear that the annual Christmas Market in Lincoln has been cancelled. It brings so much revenue to the local economy with traders from across Europe and the local shops and hotels gaining.

There are even steam train excursions from north and London. There will be nothing for the trippers to see, if the trains can still run.

I suppose it is sensible to cancel the event as Lincoln isn't a place to be with icy roads, but what a loss to the locals.

Snow coming down thick and fast near Channel coast....The most we've had so far and it's already building up on the ground.. Earlier the main coastal road was completely clear, but side roads are like sheets of glass.
M20 has Operation Stack where the lorries are held on the motorway while waiting to cross to France.
Seems to be getting worse here by the minute.
