Certainly not a gardening day here. I do feel sorry for all the people who have put a lot of effort into organising events for the bank holiday.

Hi Robin No real plans just yet. Waiting for hubby to decide if he will leave working a little early or keep going for another 18 months.
I hope to sort my Family History research and follow up some of the names I jotted down on my way through, getting rid of little notes as I go. Maybe get hubby to take me to Chichester and Winchester Records Offices. I've only been to Winchester once and found so much, but never returned. Hubby doesn't have a great interest.
Otherwise mainly handicrafts, reading more, gardening and decorating. Should keep me busy til he decides.
I need to declutter, as they say and get rid of a lot of equipment and toys. But I have only had one little goirl 3 days a week for the last 2 years so a slow lead in I guess
Enjoy the Bank Holiday everyone
Linda :-) <3

I think there is a lot of evidence stacked in my favour. I am sure it is correct. There seems to be a lot of good evidence there.

Ben sometimes when there is lack of proof the sort of gut feeling from your John Buggins being the witness at those two marriages is all we have to go on. It seems very hopeful for you doesn't it? :-)

Sylvia non of my Cudd's ended up in Bucks.
I am sure onto a winner with the latest discovery. Here goes, what do you think?
In 1793 in Wootton by Woodstock in Oxfordshire my 6xgreat grandmother Mary Bliss, widow, married John Hull, widower. I cannot find a likely marriage of a Mr Bliss/Blisse/Blysse marriage to a Mary in the Oxon Marriage Index that would fit. But on the IGI in Todenham in Gloucestershire a Edward Bliss married a Mary Marshall.
Todenham is near the Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire border. From 1781 to 1785 in nearby Chastleton in Oxfordshire Edward and Mary Bliss were having children. All seemed to have died in infancy. Edward Bliss, pauper is buried in 1785 in Chastleton. I have Chastleton PRs. No Bliss BMD entries in the village take place after Edward's death.
In 1785 an Ann Marshal wed Thomas Buckingham in Wootton by Woodstock and one of the witnesses was John Buggins. I checked and he was not a pesky regular witness to marriage. When John Hull, widower and Mary Bliss, widow wed in 1793 one of the witnesses was John Buggins again. These are the only two marriages he seemed to witness in Wootton by Woodstock any time.
Just 2 or 3 miles north of Todenham in Shipston on Stour in an exclave of Worcestershire a Mary Marshall was baptised in 1760 and a sister Ann baptised in 1762 to Thomas and Sarah Marshall.

Hello all, hope everyone is well today. Been busy decorating the kitchen today and going in search of new blinds tomorrow. The sun has just come out, bit late in the day :-( Robin glad you enjoyed the concert if not the train ride home. David we're a very friendly bunch and always happy to have more join in with our chat and banter :-) Moonbi fingers crossed for your daughter and her new man, your grandson will probably take a while to "share his mum" but hopefully given time things will work out for them all. Off to do some research,
Cath xx

Good morning from a grey Gloucester. Robin I imagine the ManU fans were disgruntled because they lost, still no excse for unruly behaviour that affects other travellers. Glad you enjoyed the evening though. Moonbi, your daughter's new man sounds as if he could be 'the one', time will tell. I hope your friend can trace the whereabouts of the piano lid or at the very least sue the removal company. I wonder who was there when the piano was loaded for removal? Anyone who can help? Sylvia, our May hasn't been brilliant either although April was apparently very good - we missed it being in Tenerife. It has been extremely windy here now for over a week. Linda, you are going to miss the patter of little feet and the chatter of little bodies aren't you? Can the toys go to a nursery/creche or playgroup? Did you have the children (how many at a time) in a certain room or all over the house? If a particular room you could re-decorate it now for a fresh start. I am sure that you will soon fill your time and wonder how you fitted in looking after the children.

Morning everyone Sun is out at the moment I have been for a walk, it was fresh. Washing ready to hang out now Hubby is at work hopefully he will be home around 3:30 this afternoon. I am now officially retired. No more babies to try to give a good start in life. I have been a childminder for nearly 24 years so it is going to mean many changes for me. Not least letting go of all the equipment and toys I have gathered over the years. Especially those that were my own children's. Then there is all the paperwork to be sorted some I must keep lots should go.
I see a busy time ahead.
Have a good Bank Holiday weekend those in England
Linda :-) <3

Hi all xxx
Robin ..................... glad you enjoyed Richard Marx, but sorry about the fans who spoilt the train ride home.
It sounds as if you live in the area I come from?
I was born in Oldham, went to Liverpool uni, and taught in Northwich!
Moonbi .............. isn't that frost a little early? Hope the new man works out ............ he sounds a "keeper" at the moment!!
David ......... hope your experiences will be better this time around :))
It was cloudy AGAIN this morning, but the sun is now shining (almost 6 pm). Yesterday, we were told that we have had the coldest and wettest April and May since 1955!
OH has dinner almost ready, so I'd better go or I will be in trouble!! :)))

Hello Everyone, and to David, Benjamin, and Just Jean.
Taking a little time today to connect. Its been a very difficult week. I had quite a few appointments where I had to sit and wait lengthy times. And today my back is hurting. Its quiet here today so I write. Its been very cold with frosts each morning this week, cold wind a couple of nights.
Two nights I have been out to dinner. First to a farming family on Hickory Hill. and I enjoyed that company. Wife had just received her Steinway piano which she inherited. but alas it came without its lid. she has been desperately trying storage company involved. with no luck yet. The common thought being now that there is a black market trade in piano parts, and the removalist co. has to do with that.
going to the soliciter about that tomorrow. I really hope that it can be found, but somehow I doubt it. Lovely little miniature grande too.
Next dinner I met my daughter and her new man at the Tavern for seafood. which we thoroughly enjoyed. It is the second time I met him, and he seems very genuine. They are getting along well, but young g'son is finding it a bit difficult sharing his mum.
I had my meal, which I could not finish as far too much; Oysters Kilpatrick were very nice; and talked a while before excusing myself.
I thought how nice of him to invite me. Either he is sucking up to me, or he is genuine about connecting. I guess time will tell. ;-)
In the coming week I have 2 more appointments to attend, and then the stress should lessen. well I hope so. I especially look forward to my 11 days in Adelaide from July4.

Robin, I hope you enjoyed your evening.
Cath, yes we had a lovely time, we stayed near Bridport, a lovely part of Dorset, we were two minutes walk from the sea at Burton Bradstock.
David welcome back to GR and welcome to this thread which has been giving people who don't normally post an opportunity to chat and make new friends. It is nothing to do with look ups which I guess is where you have had a problem. Sorry if people have upset you, I know it does happen, but not all people who help with look ups are like that. But, I take your point and your post answers in part the question in the title of the thread.
