Hi

I am not worried about the troublemakers but more surprised as to how they seem to get away with it yet more civil members post a joke or a retaliation to a nasty comment and get the third degree for it.

Its the same when you criticise a celebrity, which most people do, and some people accuse you of being mean or jealous. What for? Posting an opinion? Most people will point out flaws that celebs have. I loathe Eamonn Holmes with a passion and will not be afraid to say that.

My OH cant stand Robson Green, dont know what puts him against him, but we cant watch anything with him in! Mind, he has always been a bit like that, not very tolerant. OK when he gets to know people.

Terry

what on earth do you mean?

That sounds as if you are trying to censor us

....... I'm sure you didn't mean it that way.

But on the internet, without facial expression and / or body language to lighten the mood, then it does sound much worse.

This has been a friendly thread so far ......... and long may it last!

Of course, we do all know how easy it it to get a posting or even thread removed ............ someone just has to click on Request Review and say how much they are offended by it

There's your answer, Ben, as to how some people get away with everything and others get whoooooshed for the slightest thing!

One has to tell a good story to get the moderators to remove a posting or thread, and some are better than others at it!

I have been on GR since 2004 and there are many members whom I do get on with and did, ones who have since left the site. Although I have no plans to leave the site and will stick to the few threads where I talk to members in a civil way and know the troublemakers will not post on.

I will not mention any names but I can think of several GR members of the past who have caused no end of havoc on this forum.

Rambling Report 5 Dec 2010 20:05

Of course people have caused havoc, taken offence, reported things others might not have done, but isn't that the same as ' real life'? People are not obliged to like what I like, think the way I think. or appreciate my sense of humour... or vice versa.

You can't just opt out of life when you come across someone who vexes you or doesn't like you, and say
" that's it I'm out of here", so the best thing is to keep on putting in what you can and just hope the majority appreciate your efforts :)

If those who don't post because they can't find anything of interest to add to, posted their own threads it would be better for everyone surely?

A year or so ago a lady member started a thread asking if there was a preference for Boxers, Hipsters, Briefs or Slips when it came to their menfolks attire.

After several giggly postings I ventured to suggest that those gentlemen who were well endowed might be better to avoid boxers.

Someone complained and I was whoooshed.

I have just spent 10 minutes typing a post for this thread and, when i pressed preview, an error message came up and it wasn't posted. Happened to me a few times now, so annoying.

Hi Sylvia :)

I took it that Terry says he doesn't post anymore because too may people take offence - not an instruction as such lol

I may be wrong though.

Re the subject of complainers and whooshers lol I think opinions on forums can be quite difficult. If people argue that they have the right to say something, then equally people have the right to object to whatever is said. I think the key is to not make it personal or offensive which is the hardest thing really.

Sometimes jokes can go a bit too far here and things that people may say to others in 'real' life so to speak may not be appropriate for a family forum. However, again it comes down to balance.

Dare I ask Inspector, was it you giggling to those posts or the people posting that were giggling? ;) lol

Many thanks for keeping this thread going while I was away. Annette, car parking in hospitals here causes a lot of annoyance and is probably about the same as yours. Ben, good to see you on here.

I always wanted to see Ayers Rock but don't think I do now. Have seen photos when friends visited.

Hello Anne,
I wondered where you went.
Hope your Christmas shopping went well. or are you snowed in too.

Even though I have traveled quite a bit, I havn't yet been to Uluru.
Isnt it the way though? one visits lots of other places but hasnt yet seen all that ones own country has to offer.
Although I have been out in western Qld fossicking for emeralds and sapphires.
I have traveled widely in the eastern states, but never ventured west.
Did you hear about the floods that Australia is experiencing.
We heard about spy in the UK parliament. It that really true?

Did mean other people who objected to postings often innocent, and not just mine. In a democracy you don't have to like or even approve of what someone else says, but their right to say such things are what we all have to protect.

AnninGlos Report 7 Dec 2010 11:35

Yes, I'd agree with that Terry.

Annette we were down in the South west for the weekend in a hotel in Torquay, all our Christmas shopping is done but we managed to buy ourselves some bits and pieces.

Yes looks like we have another gullible stupid MP.
