Blimey, you're organised! Summer wardrobe already.

i'm knitting a baby blanket at the moment - on the machine. I don't mind knitting small pieces by hand or patterns and stripes but get very bored with straight stocking stitch.
I don't mind going in the front door but I don't much like in the back door stitch.

I dreamt I was looking for some of that Rico cancan a couple of weeks ago - and there was three wool shops in the same street! LOL Lucky if there's 3 in the same county!

I used to have machines until a few years ago. Then the grandsons said they preferred tops with Nike, Adidas etc., than grandmas bobble sweaters.
So I was made redundant LOL
I ended up giving them away to the social services for one of there establishments for educationally challenged young people. They were worth hundreds, as I had all the attatchments too. Still, I only knit for myself these days, and it helps to keep the athritis at bay.

Good to hear Julia i used to knit and do Xstitch till
hands became too painful and GP told me to give
it up, I miss it and wish I could go back to those days.

Awe, what a shame Golden Girl that you have had to give them both up. I used to do cross stitch and counted cross stitch, but the eyesite is not good enough these days, or the patience.
I also do crochet and always have a piece of knitting and crochet on the go at the same time, all year round.
Aged auntie who died last year at 93, knitted up until she was 90, for the same reason - to keep the athritis at bay. She used to knit woolen gloves for the local League of Friends, and they were very much in demand.

If you don't use it you lose it so they say Julia and I agree.
I needed a magnifying glass on a string round my neck
when doing Xstitch, loved that hobby and like you also
had a knitting machine. I've always fancied doing lace work
as was on Lark Rise to Candleford but too late now to try.

I like to crochet as it grows fast and is quite therapeutic - even though it makes my hook hand sieze up - but I've yet to find a use for it as I think it looks a bit naff to be honest.

Have you heard of the crochet coral reef project Julia and Emma?
That does look good.

Never heard of it Island, mum used to crochet also and
taught me when she was about 70, i enjoyed that too.
What's it about Island?

Island Dearest, I don't mind, the odd crocheted top or jacket, but I do not do lace work, to fine for my eyes.
I have not heared of that project

I frist heard about it last summer, a friend had a brochure and a length of crochet that a friend had given him. It's really effective.
I'd actually forgotten about it already but feel inspired again by the photos.

Not had a look properley yet Island, but I thought it rang a bell.
In this month's edition on Lets Knit (Feb) there is a little article about it.
It says that if you go to the Salisbury Arts centre on Saturday the 26th Feb, you will see the Coral Reef in it's final form. There is a web site
