What a start to the New Year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother has just returned from the hospital and he has been told that he can't have chemo as the cancer is to far gone, they have put him on morphine and as far as l know he doesn't want to know how long he has left, l can't believe it has come to this he is only 55 and we only lost Mum in July.
I'm devastated, please send some thoughts for a painfree time for my brother.
And he was told it was I.B.S !!!!!!!!

Oh Mummo, Im so sorry to read this. I hope you get some answers soon, I have heard of others having Chemo first to shrink a tumour in order to better improve chances of successful surgery. Sending some positive thoughts to you and your brother, and remember your friends on here are happy to listen any time you need them,

Hi Mummo,

hope you can get more info today and that your brother can have some chemo while the docs decide how best to treat his cancer. It's very frightening and confusing but difficult when you get the info second hand and can't ask questions, I am sure your s.i.l was too upset to take it all in as well.

Try to keep feeling positive and hope things improve for all of you soon

take care,
Lizxx

Mummo, bless you all. What a terrible time you are having. You will want to ask so many questions about your brother. Everyone of us on here will always listen to you when you need to talk. It does feel easier sometimes to talk to someone outside the family. I will be thinking of your brother and family. Try to get some rest.

Its possible the tumours are enmeshed with other organs and would be difficult and dangerous to remove. the chemo would hopefully shrink them and they might then be able to operate. An op is the quickest and least difficult of available treatments. Chemo is also able to provide a cure, but is longer and has more side effects. There are various kinds of chemo, some in tablet form, others by injection and a drip. There is also x-ray treatment, so there are several choices for them to make. Hope that treatment however provided is successful, at least to give him some more years.

I am sorry the news hasn't been as positive as you had hoped for Mummo.
There may be several reasons why they have not removed the cancer.Hopefully you will get some answers soon.He does sound very poorly.
Thinking of you and your family at yet another very difficult time.xxx

Mummo,

You rant all you want - we all have broad shoulders and can take it.

I can't give you any answers, but hope the doctors can get the treatment sorted out. Perhaps they want to go down the route of chemo to reduce the tumors before removing them?? I don't know much about all of this, but am sending cyber healing thoughts to you all.

Much love,
Elisabeth xxx
