Morning Emma .Marion ~~~~~~~~~Allan . a bright start to the day . noticed a bit of frost on the ground .so will have to wait before I put any more plants out . have 200bulbs . & lavender . & some roses that cover the ground . stop weeds from growing . .they are only sm just now .so putting them in pots .till. they get established . then put them in the soil .just need it to warm up a bit !! the water situation sounds .a bit silly in oz . sounds as though .with some forward planning you would get water . red tape comes to mind ;.0)0 hope Rory is better today xx Marion your little lady is keeping you busy .bless her x right of now Take care All Bye for now Barbra x

Allan Report 6 Apr 2011 23:28

Helo all

Emma, sorry to hear about your dog. I hope that he is feeling a bit better by now.

Something weird happened just after midnight on Wednesday (or very ealy minutes of Thursday): something started falling from the sky. There was a rumour that it may have been rain but its been so long since anyone in this area has seen rain, this rumour could not be confirmed.

Also today forecast to be 22c Yesterday was 32c.

We need heaps more rain for it to make an impact on our water supplies but at least the garden will appreciate it.

This State is a State of Contradictions. Up North, where this is very little population, there is more fresh water than the entire state could use in a hundred years and the seasonal rainfall is very dependable, with the odd cyclone thrown in.

Down here in the SW where the population, including Perth, is nearly 2 million and growing rapidly, our drinking water is drying up.

There is now talk of piping the water from the north to the south, a distance of a few thousand kilometres, This has been talked about on at least two previous occasions and each time the proponents were met with derision. It now appears that they were correct all along!

Allan Report 5 Apr 2011 22:47

H Barbra,

I've just been on the ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) website and the jobs don't open until the 9th April so I will apply then.

Rain is forecast for this week and we really need it. Some smaller towns have run out of drinking water and it is having to be carted in.

I'm just glad that we are on scheme water and do not have to rely on Rainwater tanks: very expensive to have them filled from a tanker.

Regards

Allan
