Had a cat called Puss - well, we still have her...when she died a few years ago we had her cremated and her ashes are in a little stoneware jar ...

Also have a Commonsense cookbook from school in the 1960s...only use it when I forget how to boil water :-)))

Never read Twinkle but my Mum used to get me a UK girls magazine called "June"....enjoyed reading it but for an Aussie kid it was all a bit foreign at times ...

from another Susan (just got bored reading back my post and considered deleting it!!)

I'm not only boring, Susan, but I've just been elected the Chairman of Apathy International.

No one else could be bothered to vote

I started with the 'Beano', my brothers got the 'Dandy' and 'The Eagle'. My sister got the 'Bunty'. Being the(much) youngest of 4 , when my siblings 'outgrew' their comics, they came down to me (except 'The Eagle').
I ended up with the 'Beano' and 'Dandy' - when I outgrew them, I had my sister's 'Bunty' plus the 'Judy' - by then she had 'Jackie'.
Oh - and occasionally I had 'Mandy'.

I had 'The Broons' and 'Oor Wullie' albums at Christmas.

this is why I ave such a good grisp of the Henglish langwi.... lungu..... spoked word

With all this very slow talk about things called Twinkle, I couldn't resist this. If any one is offended I will delete.

Little Rose

Little blue eyed Rose Sinclair,
Stood shyly by the barber's chair
While Mr. Fairclough trimmed the hair
Of Rose's father, sitting there.

And as she stood, she slowly ate
A bar of creamy choco-late
Her favourite milky 'Twinkle Bar'
Bought earlier, by dear Papa.

"Don't stand so close" the barber frowned
As clippings tumbled all around
"'Cos' standing there, the chances are
You'll get hairs on your chocolate bar!"

But little Rose, a shy young child
Just snuggled up to Pa and smiled
So Mr. Fairclough, in dismay
Continued cutting anyway.

And when he'd finished father's head,
He turned to little Rose and said
"Have you got hairs on your 'Twinkle' then?"
"Not yet", said Rose... "I'm only ten!!!"
