Does anyone know which Workhouses were operating in the Sheffield area in the 1920's (if any). I have a relative who, as an unmarried mother, was sent to a Workhouse. She lived in Oughtibridge at the time. There was a Workhouse in High Bradfield (about 2-3 miles away) but i think it had been converted to a school or something by then. Where else could she have been sent to in the area? There was also one at Grenoside, but not sure when that closed down. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks |
