PREFABS? are you serious? They had asbestos on the inside part and suffered from "concrete cancer" this is where the metal frame rusts, cracks the concrete and subsequently makes the property highly unstable!! That's why all councils knocked em down and rebuilt OR completely restructured them but minus the asbestos and concrete..

of course they are,but if they are entitled to EMA then they wil be given it, if there not they wont, should people be given EMA if there parents earn more than the requared amount, no they shouldnt,

Not always the mother Joy sometimes the carer is a sibling and sometimes they may be younger and yes SS will be involved it happens.

I agree S&P but it doesn't always happen a child maybe highly intellegent but never be physically able if they want to do college yu would think the government would want to help. Define "foreigners" I guess its anyone not born in this country or has duel or multi-heritage ~ hands up to being a foriegner then, but I work very hard for very little pay so does that count as me being a foriegner.

Stray my parents did not pay for my education my grandparents did on a pension and money they had put aside for that purpose. Some people ar living "hand to mouth" through no fault of their own ar they NOT also also entitled to better themselves if they so wish?

Maggie this country can no longer support our own people
this forgein aid must be stopped
especially the child benefit scams
and foreign workers are eligible to claim all their tax back
when they leave the country this is so wrong
especially when they return to their own countries
then come back within months for another job here
and get the tax back for that one to

SO YOU ARE DEAD RIGHT HUN

if people dont get EMA its because there familys earn to much to get it,
there was no EMA when i went to college, MY parents paid for me to go to college!

SaltnPepper

SaltnPepper Report 22 Oct 2010 19:47

Footie, then that child would be adequately "looked after" within the benefit system.

There are too many people scrounging from the UK money pot, Foreigners come here knowing how easy it is to take money from US the tax payers..

One couple in the papers a few weeks back. They had 13 kids, were drawing 70k YES 70k a year off the tax payer. They had morning breakfasts delivered to them, and the mother of all these sprogs, moaned she had to "heat the food up"...before they could eat it. She moaned and groaned how hard done by she was.

SHE should get off her mardy backside and get a job and stop knocking out sprogs..NOW as a tax payer, i'd gladly pay for her to be sterilized!

Joy NOT everyone is entitled to EMA it goes on parents earning and some get £5 and some up to £30. For some disabilities there is no cure or treatment. Don't mean they shouldn't be iven the same opportunities.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 22 Oct 2010 19:44

yes Jean the government could employ people to
decorate for the old disabled and the do the DIY

That would save money and help the public to

maggiewinchester Report 22 Oct 2010 19:44

Most money is leaching out of this country by people not paying tax!
No - I don't mean the unemployed, disabled or elderly - I mean the fat cat spongers who have offshore bank accounts.
No-one who lives in this country and who doesn't pay tax on their inflated wages should be allowed to either be in government, the House of Lords, or be manager of any county/ local council.
That will clear half the chaff from government, and remove the overpaid 'heads' of councils. (The head honcho of Hampshire County Council earns £199,000 a year!)
Why should any MP who isn't prepared to pay tax at the level set by the Government be allowed to say where my hard earned tax should or shouldn't go!

As for increasing the age when we can retire - it doesn't mean we suddenly aren't elderly - just means there will be more unemployed younger people who really need work, and us old fogies taking more time off work as we slowly fall apart !

those forms are a joke:

Name an area yu need extra care in ~ settling at night
how many times (at night) do yu need to be settled ~ how long is a piece of string
how long does it take each time yu need to be settled ~ derr

Name another area yu need extra care in ~ using the toilet
how many times (during the day) do yu need to use the toilet ~ depends how much I drink
how long does it take each time yu need the toilet ~ derr

Name a 3rd area yu need extra care ~ crossing the road
How many times do yu cross the road ~ depends how many time I leave the house
how long does it take yu to cross the road ~ who can tell

then yu throw the form

if that child is at college
then he should be getting the same benifitd the other kids get
EMA family credits and child benefits nothing more

THE COLLEGE WILL HAVE TO PROVIDE
THE LIFTS ECT THEMSELVES
it surprises me how many kids with ADHD
suddenly get better when the benefits run out

Perhaps some of us who could afford it should try to resist the urge to D>I>Y and employ somene off the dole to do it for us. 54 yrs ago my OH was sent to various people to do gardening, rough work. he had never done any, but he needed to love. We had to manage for three weeks on ten shillings for food, per week.

FootieAngel

FootieAngel Report 22 Oct 2010 19:37

This child is well enough to go to college, but has mental and phyical difficulties and doesn't want to stay home. They want to fit and try their best to work towards a career goal. Sadly not everyone like that is able to have a career, but it doesn't stop them trying. In the mean time these ambitious souls should have allowances to help them get from a-b to continue their education and if it means providing transport and lifting aids etc they should be provided. Why should anyone be discriminated against in this way when they have had recognised disabilities all f their short lives and have strived to overcome at ever turn.

Cooper

Cooper Report 22 Oct 2010 19:32

I remember having to fight tooth and nail to get my late Mother disability benefit for her care. She was crippled with Rhematoid arthritis and pain, her poor hands and feet were deformed with this cruel disease and yet she had to have a medical with 2 Doctors and "prove" that she could not do the day to day basic tasks such as washing dressing showering etc. Only then did she get some money to pay the carers.
If this system was bought back in and also a mental health team for those with genuine needs people who were really in need of disability need would get it and those who didnt would be weeded out.

FootieAngel

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 22 Oct 2010 19:30

sorry mel
but if a child is well enough to go to school
maybe the school should be getting the extra benefit
not in all cases but some

and these fake bad backs have to be stopped
we just cant afford them any more

those who are really ill i agree s&p
should get the benefits
