Just a short message, I spoke to Joyce at teatime and she has the full blown bug now, has the runs and feels ill on top of everything else. She can't get over her daughter but I don't think she will for quite a while yet, I can't imagine losing mine, it must be the worst thing possible, poor Joyce.
She still hasn't had the computer on but knows you are all sending her your messages and she is greatful and thanks you all. I've had a hard day and am so tired so that is it for today.

Thank you for that Caz. Poor Joyce, she really didn't need to get that bug just now did she. Although I guess it was inevitable as she was already run down. I do hope that she feels stronger soon.

Our Joyce has had a lot of problems for some time as well as her health problems and being unwell and having Jan ill worried her so much. The latest sad news has hit her hard and more so because she is already low.
I will be talking with her soon and hope she will soon shake off this bug and be able to remember happier times with her daughter to bring her comfort.

I hope that Joyce was able to chat to you Liz, and that you were able to bring her some confort.
She must feel really helpless, living so far away. But I am sure that her dear daughter would understand.

Couldn't make contact with Joyce today, but spoke with Caz and she will be talking with Joyce again soon. I will try to contact Joyce over the next couple of days, and hope she will feel well enough to talk. The last few months especially have been very hard for her but she knows how much people here care about her. It's such a shame there hasn't really been anyone who can speak English well enough outside the family so she could have a close friend nearby - it would make all the difference I think. It must be so lonely to be away from close friends, however good Jan and his family are.

Nearly gave poor Caz a heart attack when I called, she was bending down looking in the bottom of her wardrobe for something and it meant the phone on the table next to her was close to her ear.

Yes Liz it was a heart stopping moment, thank you.... you do pick your times.
I spoke to Joyce a few seconds after I had put the phone down from Liz, she had been trying to get through for ages, poor Joyce. She is still in a state of shock and can't seem to come to terms with losing her daughter, as if it hasn't sunk in yet. She has a friend who lived in the same road as her but moved, this friend speaks english and has started coming to see Joyce and took the dog out for her yesterday. It cheers Joyce up to have a natter and a cuppa with a friend, she is going again today so at least Joyce has some company.
I'll be ringing her again tomorrow.

Hi Joyce P... you are right, Carole has been a rock to Joyce, and taken all the weight of the sadness from the rest of us too.
Her problems pushed to the back to look after her friend.
Well done Carole, a real pal.

Had a text yesterday to ask if I was around but had to explain I was out shopping with o.h. for diy things, said I will make contact with her today and she can offload a bit to me.

Will let you know how she is doing, if I manage to talk with her, o.h.is going into work in a bit so will have more chance to talk with Joyce.
