I believe there is a little man who has to hold it, sitting on the roof. Hope he has strong arms.

Saturday afternoon rehearsal again, how quick the time flies. Hope that it is not a non-event like last week. Poor old John is charming, but he is not a dancer. I need to express myself on the dancefloor, not keep moving my tootsie out of the way of his great plates of meat.

So standing outside the rehearsal rooms, and I am a bit apprehensive. Who will I have this week.

They have dressed me for a jive. So I am in a lycra top with a scarf around my neck, small dirndle skirt, ankle socks and mary-jane dance shoes. My hair has been rolled and curled. So I am all set to go.

Push open the doors. He is standing with his back towards the door ...................... he is tall and dark ................ he turns ...................... oh be still my beating heart ....................... its Geffin Jones ........................ in his RAF uniform ...................... and we are going to do the Lindy Hop. Hurrah.

Blimey he is tall, and quite, quite charming. Still he is muscular, needs to be to throw me around.

Very patriotic. He wants us to sing Land Of My Fathers before we begin. Good job GR confirmed I have Welsh ancestry, so no problem there.

We will be dancing around to Duke Ellington, so here we go.

Left foot, hop, hop. Stamp. Right foot, hop, hop. Swing to the left, swing to the right. And then .............. ooh, ooh, he swings me between his legs, and then throws me over his should. Boy is he a live one. I can see I am going to be covered in bruises by the end of this session.

I reckon an hour or two will cover it.

If old Felicity can look good, so can I.

See you later girls.

Hop, hop, side step, wave finger in air, while shaking head. Hop, hop, tap step ..........................................

wonderful picture of Ann Widdy in the newspaper with her leg up on the barre. She is wincing, Anton the Berk is smiling like a Cheshire Cat.

Apparently she wont be ready for the first show, as she spent all last week organising things for the Popes' visit.

I shall have to take that gal in hand.
lol

Big ~~~~~~~~~ to everyone ~~~~~~

Gonna put my feet into soak for a couple of days.

That John may be charming, but blimey has he got big feet, and they spent most of the time on mine.

My spangly shoes will need a proper overhaul before I dance next week!

See ya all later!

Saturday has come around again, this week has just flown by. Standing outside the rehearsal rooms for my next lesson with a celebrity pro. Cant wait.

I am doing ballroom this week, so am in a Big Frock. Layer upon Layer of Tulle. Yellow this time, with gold spangles. I have little whisps of yellow chiffon hanging from my elbows and wrists. They float on the breeze.

I wonder who I will be dancing with this week, Matt Dawson, Jonesy who is going with Katherine Jenkins, or any other hunk will do.

Opening the door now. Ooooooooh, nooooooo. It's John Sargent. Must say he has made a bit of an effort, he is wearing tails, and his hair is smarmed down with Brylcreem.

We are dancing a Fox Trot to Glenn Miller's In The Mood.

OK, in hold, and orft we go.

Long step, two short, long step, quick turn, and ouch. Blimey this bloke doesn't know how to keep off my toes.
Try again, short step, long step, ouch, ouch, ouch.

My toosie are beginning to swell aready. He marches off like Winnie the Pooh, to restart the music. Heavens, what did I do to deserve this.

Will report back later, hopefully, and hour will be MORE than enough.

Just caught sight of us in the mirrored wall. He looks like a Teddy Bear, I look like a demented Chick. lol

I love Vincent and Flavia together, they are the real deal. Their Argentinian Tango must be one of the most erotic dances. Nearly as good as me and Mark. lol

Poor old Ann. She will look like a ship in full sail if she does ballroom dancing in the fuller skirt. She gallomped around the floor like a demented elephant.

I really admire her guts, but is it wise.

edit. Reminds me of the song by Joyce Grenfell
'As Stately As Two Galleons We Glide Across The Floor'

Vincent - small but beautifully marked!!

Anton - loves himself far too much!!!

much as I admire Ann, I can only see her with shopping trolley

I'm liking Jimmy Mistry very much - full package there!!!

Julia

Julia Report 13 Sep 2010 13:03

I hope Ann is not ridiculed too much, say to the point of embarressment, though she has a broad back, and always takes it well.
Glad Vincent is still there. Either last year or the one before, he did an Argentinian Tango, and it made me a quivering wreck, and foaming at the mouth. Good thinks come in small parcels.LOL
Don't like the new lads, and did not like the set pieces. They were too artificial.LOL
But, will keep watching

Hi Helen

I feel the same way Rita,I like Ann she's a good sport, though she will be the butt of even more jokes,..and poor Anton always seems to get the 'lame' ones.....if you get my drift lol....Paul Daniels?...ummm...nooo!

Didn't like any of the new lads, soo full of themselves, and I actually felt a bit embarrassed when they leered at their chosen partners.

I know we have to become used to new dancers, but, I'll miss Matthew and Brian :O(.... very pleased Vincent and Flavia are still on the show.

Keeep Dancing

Well I hate to sound like a 'party-pooper' here but I was bitterly disappointed and felt very flat after the 'meet the competitors' show. I didn't like the new male dancers at all and I thought the new 'set' was awful, tacky. Poor Tina O'Brien seems at a disadvantage already as the 'little boy' partner she's acquired was obviously the weakest of the new boys - and I had great hopes for her. Somehow or other I am going to have to try and muster up some enthusiasm by next Saturday as at the moment I am not sure if I am even going to bother to watch. Oh dear, I sound like a miserable old crow moaning but I am so disappointed. Please let me be wrong and it turns out a good competition.
