Sadly I was unable to watch these first shows as we were on holiday in Tenerife on Friday and out for a meal, then travelling home yesterday. I thought Matt would be good, he is very active, love him in country file with Julia Bradbury, and also Secret Britain, he is very fit and light on his feet. I shall look forward to next week.

Seen the video for Gary and Robbie.

A critic said it was like Brokeback Mountain, all lingering looks, back-slapping, and constant intensity. Why they take their shirts off, Gawd alone knows.

What a load of old rubbish.

Think this is one of the best line ups in Strictly for a long time...after sitting through both shows think Jimmi and Matt have to be favourites, though think Scott, Pamela and Kara will be snapping at their heals....

As for Robbie and Gary just so pleased to see them back together.....

Sorry but I was disappointed with tonight's show,I know they were all nervous and it was their first show, but I couldn't get excited with any of them! except Flavia of course, but she's the professional.

Too many egos on the dance floor..........and Robbie and Gary? sheesh......now where have I heard their new song before? in quite a few songs I think....

Kara was great, except for her slip.

Baby Doll from Corrie was very sweet, but looked terrified. Jimi was good.

But Ann. Ann. What can you say. I give her all credit for her efforts. Anton was being very cheeky, and he kissed the top of her head like a Dad kissing his child. I think he knows his days are numbered. But, Good On Her.

Sorry but Gavin, I have no interest in him, I dont care about him at all. I even went out of the room when he was on.

Sorry to repeat myself. But Alesha.
Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Yep..Kara Tointon my favorite ......

AnnCardiff Report 2 Oct 2010 19:26

well the singers on the show are fantastic - always thought that and wondered why they haven't brought out a CD

Apologies to Gavin - our Welsh boy was good - so much better than expected

Jimi Mistry excellent, Kara Tointon classy - Michelle was full of fun, Anne Widdy was delightful and got the cracks in first before the judges but I hope she doesn't linger on through ill-placed public voting as did John Sergeant

Alesha continues to irritate me as always

Sorry Janet I think you a only one of a handful of supporters for Alesha.

She IS being a bit more sympathetic this time, but I think this is good PR. She held out until the last moment to sign her contract, if that is not holding the BBC to ransom, then I dont know what it. Remember no-one is bigger than the job. There are plenty of pretty young girls who could do her job. Oh yeh, she also has a new albumn to promote, so dont be too surprised if she sings one of her new songs when the professional dancers do their dance.

Brucie, well if he could act as well as reads the autocue, then he wouldnt be looking into the distance all the time.

But when push comes to shove, this is all about the dancers, roll on 6pm.

I think the line up of judges including Alesha is fine. Whilst its all well and good that 3 of the panel know the finer points of dance, the one element of this competition is that it is about 'amateurs' out of their comfort zone being judges on their ability to deal with the challenges being thrown at them each week by 'professionals'.
At whatever age Alesha is she has enough insight to know that there is more to being judged than on the physical ability only, as the mental focus affects the performance, as was seen last night by some of the contestants. It must be nerve racking. Her opinion to me is just as valid as CRH-Len and lovely Bruno. She is capable of showing empathy which isn't in CRH's repetoire. I think her comments are positive and supportive to weaker contestants.
Apart from all that I think Mark Ramprakash was the best dancer ever. And Brucie....well I wish he would stop the so called jokes....it is cringing.-JLe

Right folks, I'm off to get ready, Hubby and I are going out with a couple of friends tonight for a meal so am going to go for a bath and get sorted now, so I can sit and watch the show before we go out. I too am looking forward to seeing Jimi, think he will be good. I hope that the judges arn't too harsh on Ann. Take care and I'll catch you all when I get back.

Have you seen the Photo of Felicity Kendall in the Mail Magazine today? Botox would,nt work, Polyfilla might,at a push.**M**.pmsl

MotownGal Report 2 Oct 2010 14:05

OK some agrees, and some disagrees, but that is what makes us all pals.

Scott Maslan, he seemed to know what he was doing, but smile man, smile. Pamela Stephenson, I think she thinks she is better than she is. Patsy Kensit, not really keen on her since her Birds Eye peas popping days as a kid. Her dress was longer at the front than the back, she kept on getting her foot caught in it. Paul Daniels you have to give him 10/10 for gumption. Felicity Kendall, hoping her past career will carry her through. But that face, it does not move.
I think Kara will upset Alesha. Too pretty, too young, wait for the claws to come out.

Michelle William is one third of Destinys Child, alongside Kelly Rowlands and Beyonce Knowles. They are all good dancers. But time will tell if she can use her moves to a more restrictive exercise. Alesha thinks she is Britains answer to Beyone. Sadly she is not.

Looking forward to rest tonight. I personally think it will be a two horse race with Matt and Jimi, but am quite willing to be proved wrong.

Got the wine chilling again.

Julia Report 2 Oct 2010 12:34

Right, ready to give my opinion now, as spiced red cabbage I am making is simmering, so here goes.
Whilst I thought Scot Maslan was not bad, he is too full of himself. Matt, on the other hand, was a natural, and I thought very good, and worth keeping an eye on as I suspect we could have another Tom Chambers here.. But as Craig R-H said ' a good first night, does not a competition win'.
Pamela Stephenson reminded me of Jody Kidd, started well, but slipped by the wayside, perhaps because of their 'tallness', making them a little awkward. Felicity Kendall, well, don't really know what to say, but endorse others about the Botox fairy. That elderly fella, with the metal teeth, no,no,. Not for me. Patsy Kensitt, I have never liked, even if she is in one of me favourite progs. Holby. And Paul Daniels, well what can I say.
So, looking forward to seeing tonight's contestants. Anne Widdy, Kara Tointon, Jimmy Mistry, Gavin Henson, the little girl out of Corrie, Peter Shilton, and Michelle Williams.
Now I do see Kara as being oppisition to Alesha Dixon, who will not like to see someone, who resembles herself in build, looks, and personality, possibly being better than she was, in her way of thinking. Gavin Henson I do not think will be able to move properly, and already comes over as wooden. Don't have much hope for Peter Shilton, again because of his build and former career. Jimmy Mistry could be a dark horse, and I do not know who Michelle Williams is. The girl out of Corrie, just seen her name, Tina O'brien, I am not sure about, and Ann Widdy, well, what can I say, except move over John Sergeant, who I thought was absolutely lovely, and took it all in good part.
I also think Alesha has no place on the panel of judges, and agree they should bring back Arleene, a professional dancer. I like all the others, and think they are the right balance. But totally love Len. Like Brucie, Chris in Wessex, he is an old hoofer, and both know their stuff.
Hope we are still friend Chris.
All this is just in my opinion, and I will probably be proved wrong, time and time again. But it is good family entertainement, something that is sadly thin on the ground on all channels.
