Hi Footie

Re your psoriasis - have you tried Exorex? I find it a great help most of the time..... it is like a thick liquid (if that makes sense) and goes a long way, can be used anywhere on the body icluding your scalp. You may be surprised with the results. As you probably know though some flare ups "don't want to know" about anything.

I have suffered with psoriasis since my mid teens, been hospitalised twice for 4 weeks at a time. Was prescribed steroid creams for far too many many years - I blame my hairy legs on this pmsl., used omega 3 capsules for years, tried kelp tablets etc. You name it and I've tried it apart from the banana skins. Only times I was completely free of it was when I was pregnant but it flared up with a vengence about 3 weeks after giving birth!

You seem to have a lot going on at the moment, so forget about the psoriais for now. Years ago we would have been sent to a leper colony. lol

Look after yourself.

Hi Footie, hopw your asthma eases up and leaves you alone!

My ex had psoriasis and he was find when he used the steroid creams etc but he used to get sick of doing that. I found that wheat, dairy and alcohol triggered his skin off.

You might find that changing your diet around will ease things up a bit. Sugar can also aggravate your system, so if you can give that a miss that will most definately help.

Hope you feel better soon,

Cheers

Hi Chris, thank you will ask the Dr next time I see her. I wish I could live but the sea sometimes its so peaceful, other times I prefer the open countryside ~ sadly I'm close to neither. Psoriasis is just about everywhere have other rashes on my legs too the sea seemed to help that too maybe its the sea salt.Thank you again for advice on Spiriva I will definatly be enquiring next time I am there.

Hi footie.

Ask gp for Spiriva the liquid spray - it can work wonders.
I have that, ventolin, serentide 500. Lungs gone to pot since last June whilst in hospital with Pancreaitis I had respiratory failure and was on ventilator for 7 wks. Prior to that the Spiriva was good. Before I took it I was going upstairs on hands and knees after 10 days I was walking up, slowly but I was walking. Asthma Nurse calls it the miracle drug.

Sea air is good and if pssoriasis is on your legs gp told a friend to paddle every day - she lived in Cowes so could and it worked.

Swimming may not help if you have psoriasis as the chlorine could irritate it and the asthma maybe related to your allergies. Do you take anthistamines for your allergies. The coffe has to have caffeine as it's a stimulant so maybe having a small jar when you need it? The blue inhaler is Salbutamol which opens up your airways and the grey one is either combivent or itratropium which also act as relievers but on a slower route. The red/purple one may be Seretide which is a steriod preventer. You are having a rough time but help is out there as well as support such as www.asthmasupport.org.uk.

Take care Footie and will speak soon as I'm off to bed

A steam cleaner is a boon for asthmatics. Tried and tested....I highly recommend one.

Thank you for your much needed advice Katherine. I cannot swim and have a phobic of swimming pools, although I found myself breathing easier when sat on the beach with my feet in the sea. The coffee will be pretty easy to do as I'm addicted though it has to be decaf. I have had psoriasis my entire life, its pretty bad at the moment and nothing can touch it. I also have to take pills for all my allergies my rashes are not quite so ferrocious when I take the pills. I have steriod based inhalers red and blue and a grey one if I need it and yes I have had several thraot infections since I started on the steriod ones. Thank you again.

Hi Footie
I too have chronic asthma, I found swimming helped alot as it expands your chest cavity. Drinking warm coffee also helps when your chest is tight. I had eczema till I was twelve and then it vanished. If you are on a steroid inhaler, rinse your mouth out and gargle after as it can coat your tongue and make it sore. Write down any episodes you have and see if you know what you were doing/eating when it happened as this will help finding out the triggers. I remember the nebs well. In fact, I have to set them up for a few of the people I look after. Ask me anything or just a chat about it and I'll help if I can

Hi Katherine, mine is a recent thing so I'm still learning as it were. After a several visists to hospital and making aquaintance with the nebuliser (bliss) I was finally diagnosed on the 1st of June with chronic asthma and am still at the "keeping charts" stage. They are not really sure what triggers mine as still under investigation but the worse it it the more severe a rash I get. Like yourself I did a lot of sports esp athletics and gymnastics and only 2 seasons ago gave up playing and coaching footie. Right now am "riding out" a terrible virus I just have to cope it my first one since diagnosis and pretty hard going. I will heed your advice and not let it take me over completly.

See if your local surgery has a nurse with asthma as a speciality...and you can buy books in the chemist about the condition.
Of course, it's not as good as exchanging views with other people who have it, but might answer some of your queries until you see your specialist in a month.
Hope that you don't have it too badly, and they can get the levels of medication right for you, quickly.

Hi Footie,
I have had Asthma for forty years and been hospitalized on a few occasions because of it.
I have found that certain dogs trigger mine but not cats. The cold weather also and I have to be careful of colds in case they turn, but, don't let it rule your life, I haven't. I did sports at school and danced the night away in smoky clubs for a few years and I'm still here
