I thought the same Amy !

Maybe as I read it Mel was the older sister & took it upon herself to mother her baby sister as she grew up ??

I read it for what it apparently is , a younger sister, cared for by an older one...I have an older brother so I 'get' that... families fall apart for lots of reasons... I am so lucky mine never did!

FootieAngel

FootieAngel Report 15 Aug 2010 12:48

thank yu Rose x

Amy Report 15 Aug 2010 12:49

Well ..so are we to believe you left school at 10? because looking after a baby is a 24 hour job,and now it appears you had others as well ,sounds like a job for social services to me .

FootieAngel

FootieAngel Report 15 Aug 2010 12:53

Yes it was a social services job Amy yes they were on intervention for us and no I didn't quit school just didn't go often and it wasn't just me my grandparents did what they could but yu really don't need to know what the hell was going on yu just wanna wind me up well done

Amy

Amy Report 15 Aug 2010 12:56

If you dont want people to know why put it on here ? Wind you up ? no need, you do that yourself when you realise its just not working .

Rambling Report 15 Aug 2010 12:56

Amy do you have an older sibling? I remember my brother 'looking after' me...it has always been common practise for an older child to 'mind' the youngest...no one said anything about full time?

Doubtless my brother found it wearisome taking me out in my pushchair LOLOL it is family 'history' that he put me in the middle of a field of cows and laughed from the gateway ... happy times...they were muck-spreading the fields round here yesterday and the smell took me right back to that day :)

Amy Report 15 Aug 2010 12:58

No Rose Mel does clearly state that the baby was taken home for HER to take care of ..?? and which she did for 14 years.

Footie, don't let her wind you up. I've yet to see her post anything positive on anyone's threads. Perhaps you could have worded it better but I don't know why she's making such a big deal out of it.

Hope you resolve things with your sister whatever they are.

who exactly are you Amy or have I missed the introductions?

Rambling Report 15 Aug 2010 13:07

Amy...it's an expression often used surely? when bringing home a new baby...for the older sibling/s to "take care of" ... and you can't deny that is what does actually happen in families, the elder child does take care of the youngest,...it's an historically referenced fact if nothing else lol ( as we are on a genealogy site)
