Guinevere Report 14 Jul 2010 20:44

*draws up chair*

I've seen these ads and it's a bit bewildering, if the claims are true, that they manage to find people a perfect match.

How specific are you allowed to be as to your requirements?

Gwynne

LOL Janey, I'm so glad I came to you...I feel so much better now lol

Foggy Report 14 Jul 2010 20:46

But Janey,
Why cook when there are plenty of nice restaurants about.?

Rambling

Rambling Report 14 Jul 2010 20:47

....and what happens? I walk in the kitchen to make coffee and two wood pigeons are there on the garage roof , necking... all so much easier if you're a bird...he puffs up his chest and looks strong...and she falls for him... simple. lol.

Well, I see RR has got over herself.

I am the goddess, am I not?

Gwynne: you need to read the FAQs, don't you?

You may be very specific.

And yet there is no matching-criterion thingy by which the menz may weed out the fat chicks. This causes the menz no end of distress, and there is great gnashing of teeth and rending of garments in the land. Well, not as much rending of garments as they'd like, because they're forever finding themselves on dates with fat chicks.

You may specify your religion, race/ethnicity, height, location, smoking and drinking habits, and your preferences in all those regards. Kind of like every other &%$# matchmaking site on the internet. Except some of them let you specify body type and screen searches by that factor. Here, we do not. We prefer to sit back and enjoy the weeping and wailing.

Well, okay, occasionally we wade in. We point out that we too would like to see a body type criterion in the matching factors. Because then we could decline to answer it (or put 4'2" 300 lbs, as we are in fact wont to do), so that the gorgeous specimens of manhood who will accept matches and dates only with gals who are height-weight proportionate or however that goes, will never ever ever be matched with us. Because we find said specimens to be, ah, shallow and distasteful.

And then the hounds of you know where are loosed. *We* are launching attacks on these *normal* men for their *normal* preferences? How Dare We??

Well actually, we were saying that we wanted to be able to screen out men who don't meet our standards (edited the bit of garble I put there first), just as they want to be able to screen out women who don't meet their standards. This seems a simple point, but there is just no agreeing with them.

But tell me, gentle Gwynne, what degree of specificity are you seeking in our efforts to assist you in getting a date? We don't guarantee that we'll get you one, but we can undoubtedly tell you what you're doing wrong.

Please, get over yourself before replying.

Oh dear, I see that RR has not got over herself yet.

Now she's demanding big-busted men ...

Eharmony match you on your personality profiles primarily. Then you have to answer some questions and state how important they are so presumably they use those too. Then there's the profile which is shown to your matches so they can decide if they're interested or not....if they can get past the photos that is ;-)

Guys are right sometimes...I don't date short guys ;-)

btw according to the ads it's 2% of all American newly weds who met on eharmony.

ROFL about the rending of garments...

I'm just looking at the site...I fear it may be beyond me, having registered I am told that my gender ( as per entry on second page) does not match the info I gave previously ...lol how can this happen ...?

Rambling

Rambling Report 14 Jul 2010 21:01

No I really only did send that once lol

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:02

Ah, I am seeing someone else who needs to get over herself looming into view.

But glad to see you've been paying attention! I'll call that 3 a typo. ;)

Wanna read Fishface's blogs?

http://www.tanyaleepearson.com/
http://tanyaleeandjoshua.blogspot.com/

Apparently she made some kinda, uh, bigoted remarks here and there that people who posted objected to (like about gay marriage, and assorted other fundie kinda stuff), but I haven't managed to track down the originals yet. ;)

Dear Janey

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:05

Oh, Rose, I fear for you, I do.

You have forgotten your gender?

There are two choices, now ...

We suspect that you were trying some ploy to disguise your fat chick status, and it has backfired. That is what we suspect.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 14 Jul 2010 21:06

I am perfectly content with the current Mr Guinevere, Janey, I'm just a natural cynic, I suppose.

My list of requirements and *not* requirements both physical and in personality or character would be very long.

I suspect if 'imself and I entered such specific details we would end up with each other.

Edit - is it possible to exclude bald, fat men, for example?

Gwynne

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:06

Oh Hayley my Hayley, how opportune that you should ask!!!

I have the answer here somewhere, just let me go find it.

Patience is a virtue, and a virtuous girl is a whole lot better than a bunch of rubies.

Unless she's a fat chick and needs to get over herself.

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 14 Jul 2010 21:09

Me I am a fat chick? A bulldozer couldnt get over me Janey.....I will stick with Itsmytelly like Guinevere I was weighing up me opinions...ORRRRRRRR wondering if I still have it....OMG of course I still have it * nods to Guinevere **

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:11

Well, hmm, sigh, I have consulted
The Top 5 Male Turnoffs
and
5 Types of Women that Men Avoid
and yet it is not there.

Of course, "Fat Chicks" isn't there either. **

But we all know what your problem is, Hayley O Hayley.

Men

Hate

Drama.

Get over yourself.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 14 Jul 2010 21:13

*nods back*

I like to keep the current Mr G on his toes. But I'm not sure I could face housetraining another one, it takes years of careful application.

Gwynne

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:13

Oh, I forgot the footnote.

** Why don't these lists say "fat chicks"?

Because (and I must give credit to another poster for this), like happy hours in pubs, these sites are designed to attract women like moths to flames. If there are women, men will come.

Unless they're fat chicks.

But telling women that is not going to get women to open their purses.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 14 Jul 2010 21:16

Oh Gwynne, I hope you are good in the plating up meatloaf department. Otherwise, you are doomed to a life filled with the joy of cats.

No, you may not exclude fat bald men. What did fat bald men ever do to you? You are discriminating, and obviously believe that fat bald men do not have rights.

You'll be needing to get over yourself if your current mate ever tires of your demanding ways.

Rambling

Rambling Report 14 Jul 2010 21:19

It's really quite enlightening in a way.... lol all the options, grading from 1...to 7 or whatever, how important aspects of personality, behaviour etc are to you...I can see that my expectations of myself are much higher than my expectations of this fictitious partner...
