JoyBoroAngel Report 9 Jul 2010 12:42

6 arrested up to now and 3 phones have been found

how long before we have raoul moat tours

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 9 Jul 2010 11:20

well now they have 4 people in custody, so his "help" network is getting smaller i thnk the sooner he has no one helping him, he will start making mistakes and trip up, and may be caught

it has been said he slept in a house that ws unocupied, and burgled a house for food,
so hes slipping up leaving traces

im absolutly flabrgasted that a police man left a round of bullets in a house search, i know the police are doign there best, and its like finding a needle in a haystack, but with a gun pointing at them, but they has been some flaws xxx

David, with respect, it is not that easy. There has to be legal disposition, similar and more intensive than for a search warrant, etc etc, and once they have that, and permission, it is just not so easy to pick out random mobiles, especially if they are newly purchased and pay as you go ones, oh, and as has been said, nothing to do with satellites, different type of system entirely, I believe.... it would take days and days of intensive manpower, even if it were reasonably easy... contrary to popular myth, it just doesn't happen like it says in the movies. Not in the REAL world.

I haven't checked the news yet, so must pop in and get that.

Gill, you probably deleted before anyone got a chance to add to it, even had they wanted to.... this thread is the focal point for many, as it was put up right at the very start, and many of us had added.... so of course we come back here.

Kay???? Report 9 Jul 2010 08:47

Aint CSI so different from real life ,eh,,,,,,,,,}}}}

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 9 Jul 2010 08:44

You track mobiles by cell site analysis - triangulation via the masts. The masts in the area are a long way apart so an accurate fix is nigh on impossible. Satellites have got nothing to do with it.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 9 Jul 2010 08:32

Thats right David,,,,,,but you need a mobile number to locate an area where its being transmitted from, and if hes using an unregistered mobile sim only which you can by at any supermarket then it cant be located as none will know who it belongs to.} plus you can withheld your mobile number from showing to the reciver.!

David

David Report 9 Jul 2010 08:18

Daff, the Police force are the province of the Home Office.

Those satelites are so precise in locating they are used in off shore gas and oil drilling.

What thread? Everyone knows your name Gill !

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 8 Jul 2010 22:32

well the police have now named the so called hostages
who have now been charged with helping him
and yes it was one of them i named two days ago
to be honest i think Rothburys the safest place in england
as he is well gone by now

if as i suspect he was never there at all
and the diversion has worked given him time to get away
he has a good network of mates to help him
as for the phone he will have one mobile
and a pocket full of sim cards

and if he has any sense he will be sunning himself elsewhere

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 8 Jul 2010 21:13

im sure the home office would allow it, but then how would they know which signal was his anyways, unless he had a phone registered to himself they would never find it x

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 8 Jul 2010 20:41

David to do that permission has to be given from the Home Office.... they can't just click on and trace it, either... it isn't like NCIS or any of those programmes at all, well, not in this country it isn't.

Daff xxx

ps, I am sure he will have a mobile, probably more than one... he appears to have orchestrated this absolutely, and will want to know exactly what is going on... my mobile lasts about a week on standby... a good couple of days if I actually use it... a few pay as you go cheapos, and he doesn't need to be charging one up.

I was amazed, but had to laugh at the verbal faux pas comitted by a female police spokesperson last night.
She said 'No stone will be unturned in our search for Moat'.
Missed out one vital word - 'left'!!
Sort of lost it's impact.

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 8 Jul 2010 18:56

he probably hasnt got his mobile on him, and even if he has a phone it hink they can only trace it when its turned on in use, i may be wrong tho x

David

David Report 8 Jul 2010 18:45

If nedds be can't the powers that be locate precicsely an individuals location from their mobile phone?
It transmits a signal they intercept.
