the police have allowed the children home now

maybe its because
they think they have him cornered in the south of the village
but as he used to be tree surgeon
so maybe they should be looking up and not on the ground

I think the children would have been better left at the school, as has already been said, where they are under full Police protection, abit silly letting them go home...........

unless of course, there has been "new" developments, which I suspect there has been!!

id be more worried they were gona try n feed mine kay hes so fussy, altho he done well on his first school dinner today has beans and half a slice of bread, and some grapes. haha

your very right "as always" daff, long as the parents handle it well then the children will be ok, if thy handle it like its an adventure, i duno what it is but im glued to the telly i think its just beacuase its so close to home, i mean if he had chosen the other direction he could be in my town :(:(:(

as a mum I'd still leave my children at the school ,,my main concern would be ,,,,,,,,,,,would they feed them ok,,,,,,ha ha,to bring them home will cause them to panic thinking hes going to go to their house,,,,,,,oh the trauma that would cause some children,,,,,,!!

bring them home to have someone take a shot though a window even if its shut,,,,,,,,no ta,,,,,,,,

The coppers are the stated targets, so coppers escorting innocent children out of a place of safety and into the open, with the chance they (children) may *accidentally* be hit, would be an extremely careless and dumb move, in my opinion... pleased to see the police are being sensible, and making sure they are the only available tartgets. They are not only very sensible, but incredibly brave, I think.

Stray, in other emergencies, such as floods etc, people are evacuated to school and village/church halls, so the children would almost certainly *camp out* in the hall or the classrooms, even if it wasn't a residential school. Just as they would in the case of fire, or flood or whatever. They will have a ball, depending on how old they are.... and how it is handled by the adults around them. Sometimes, it is the hystera of adults that affects the children, not the event.

i was in Newcastle on sunday
and the moterway A1
slip roads where blocked by police
and the helicopter was hovering above
it was quite scarey
we knew something big was happening by the amount of police

so the poor people of rothbury
must be very conserned about it all

the police have just said they are waiting for dark
then will bring the heat seeking equipment out

i didnt realise it had bording facilitys till they just said, i was worried if they had to stay were they would sleep them all, i wodner what there going to tell the children tho

i know some officers went into a school in newcstle today non uniform and told the children they couldnt wear there uniforms due tot he robbery int he fish shop last night, so there still a risk in newcastle xxx

its a good school with boarding facilitys
so the children are ok where they are

i would leave my children where they are safe and protected

yes Ann he said that but why is he running then and not coming out n saying take me out, it dont make sense,

latest news is parent can go collect there children but are advised to leave them at the school as thy will be safer xxx

Well, you don't know how much you can believe what he says but let's hope he meant it when he said the public were not at risk from him only the police. His aim seems to be to 'commit suicide by cop' I think the phrase is. Let's hope they can capture him by shooting to wound him. I am sure the children are safe in the school, I would leave them there.

Hi think the parents have been told to pick up children and told to stay indoors and lock all doors and windows not go out even in garden not confirmed though
They have another spotting of him within the last half hour but not been confirmed yet

yeah gill thats a good idea, he has reported that hes going to kill the police so let the kids be lead by the police, "tuts" i wouldnt want the police excorting my child anywhere,

i think them publishing the picture of the policeman shot hasnt helped its help the hysteria and frightened pople more xxx

I'd leave my children where I know they will be in no danger ,,,,,,,,that is at school,they will be well cared for and safe ,they have been in school care all day so a few more hours wont cause any harm,,,,I'm sure children will be having phone calls from mum and dad,,,,,,,they will find it all a big adventure and thrilling.....

the COPPERS have a more important job to do and thats keep order and the safety of those kids and public,,,,,,th children at this time are not under any threat and the schools are well guarded,,,,,,,,!!
