I watch much of the courage till about an hour before he shot himself, and the angles the reporters took was laughable....

I thought some of the press coverage was disgraceful, whatever the rights and wrongs of the rest of it, the press were intrusive and basically, much more interested in getting the best pictures than whether a man was about to die , at his own hands or otherwise... pictures on the tv were IMO akin to watching a public execution/ suicide in terms of 'how close can we possibly get?' .In that, Moat's brother was right I think.

Some of the reporters on Sky were like vultures round a dead animal, even before he shot himself, scrabbling to get statements from villagers on the scene... Tacky!

There are winners - the citizens of Rothbury and all other peaceful people in the UK. A maniac is dead and we can all live in peace. I for one breathed a sigh of relief when he shot himself. Best thing he ever did in his miserable, control-freaking egotistical self-centred life. The only people worried about how the end came are Moat's relatives and they are only doing that because they can see mega bugs in the form of payment from the gutter press and "compensation" from the police. Lets hope the enquiry puts a full stop to all of these heart-wrenching, handwringing regrets because a waste of space is dead.

For the record, my point wasn't to denigrate the police - just to point out that there are no winners here - only victims

StrayKitten Report 10 Jul 2010 19:22

they defo did the best they could, i know it must have been hard to be"nice" to this man after what hes done, but thy gave him food water and reassurance

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 10 Jul 2010 18:59

The trained police negotiators had the patience of saints with him I think, they brought him food water his friend for a positive outcome, I like many others think it was his intension to go out in a blaze of glory ( for the silly folks that will now hero worship him) he was never going to go peacefully.
