Muffyxx Report 10 Jul 2010 18:44

The way I see it is that he was given far more options to get out of this alive by the police than his poor victims were given by him..The fact is that he chose to play a waiting game for six hours refusing to surrender his LOADED weapon. His choice...his risk. Can't say I'll shed any tears about HIS poor deal when you remember that he's seriously injured two people and MURDERED one. Bet they wish they got the choice of life or death like he did.

It's the policemen I feel sorry for...whatever they do they get stick.

Let's hope those that think they would be able to do better or have any better ideas either join up themselves and put their money where their mouths are (as if)...or aren't ever in a postition where they have a loaded gun pointed at them then have to justify every last second of their actions x

Absolutely right Hayley.

As I understand it they drove him round looking for policeman to shoot.???

Hope they get the heaviest book in the world thrown at them.

Anyone who condones or aides such evil should be locked away for a very long time imhox

The trained police negotiators had the patience of saints with him I think, they brought him food water his friend for a positive outcome, I like many others think it was his intension to go out in a blaze of glory ( for the silly folks that will now hero worship him) he was never going to go peacefully.

For the record, my point wasn't to denigrate the police - just to point out that there are no winners here - only victims

BarneyKent Report 12 Jul 2010 11:53

There are winners - the citizens of Rothbury and all other peaceful people in the UK. A maniac is dead and we can all live in peace. I for one breathed a sigh of relief when he shot himself. Best thing he ever did in his miserable, control-freaking egotistical self-centred life. The only people worried about how the end came are Moat's relatives and they are only doing that because they can see mega bugs in the form of payment from the gutter press and "compensation" from the police. Lets hope the enquiry puts a full stop to all of these heart-wrenching, handwringing regrets because a waste of space is dead.

Rambling Report 12 Jul 2010 12:18

I thought some of the press coverage was disgraceful, whatever the rights and wrongs of the rest of it, the press were intrusive and basically, much more interested in getting the best pictures than whether a man was about to die , at his own hands or otherwise... pictures on the tv were IMO akin to watching a public execution/ suicide in terms of 'how close can we possibly get?' .In that, Moat's brother was right I think.

Some of the reporters on Sky were like vultures round a dead animal, even before he shot himself, scrabbling to get statements from villagers on the scene... Tacky!

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 12 Jul 2010 12:21

I watch much of the courage till about an hour before he shot himself, and the angles the reporters took was laughable....

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 12 Jul 2010 13:59

i think Gazza was laughable he was obviously drunk, sluriing, and for him to take him a fishing rod, can of lager and a dressing gown what planet is this man on??

iv just listened to his interveiw in full on the radio, what a dsgrace x
