well i was thinking the worry of the abnormal smear and surgery next week ish need to look at the date again, had been making my stomache ache and otherthings i had put down to stress, is an inflamed gallbladder which also accounts from the drastic weight lost pain and stuff, he said if its stones its a simple keyhole jobby , so im awaiting a ultra sound for that which he said he will try and get done in the next week or too, as the gyne wont touch it.

so i feel a lot happier now my mind was linking it to the abnormal smear xx

hello alyson and elaine, you both have a lot in comon with also being carers.

We never expect to do this kind of thing for our nearest and dearest, but somehow we manage it. You never know what lies behind some peoples doors that they dont reveal. We are lucky here to have this outlet for our worries. I am sorry to hear of the troubles you have, makes mine look small.

He is supposed to put 6 nutrition drinks down his feeding tube a day but only manages 2. The hospital have said that if he continues to lose weight we will have to be trained for pump feeding. I was hoping it would not come to that but if that is what hubby needs then so be it.
It IS really hard watching him go through this but i DO have lots of support from my family who of course are going through it to.
I have started to use my running machine again ( well... walking). I did 2 miles which is pretty good as i have not done any form of exercise since last October. My sister and i were going out power walking 3 times a week and it was lovely to get out but her Mother In Law was diagnosed with bowel cancer the same time as my hubby's cancer was diagnosed so we had to pack it in. This afternoon we went for a lovely walk as the weather was nice. We took it slowly as my daughter and 16 month old grandson were with us. It was lovely just to have a change of routine and a bit of fresh air.

Alyson i really hope this has woreked for him, is he needing feeding through a tube cause of how the radiotherapy has made him feeL?
How are u feeling caring for somwone who is hill can be very tiring and demanding i know he is uour husband but u need to care for yourself too try and do something that u enjoy or relaxes u now and again or i will tell u off lol . Thankyou for your kind words x x x x

Florence... I am so so glad that your daughter has come through the other end. Must have been a living nightmare for you watching your daughter go through all that. I see children in the hospital and my heart aches for them but they always have a smile on their faces. Hubby does have a feeding tube in his stomach but at the moment he only has the nutrition drinks through them but if he loses much more weight he will need pump feeding. He only has 2 more weeks of radiotherapy left and then hopefully that will be the end of his treatment. 8- 10 weeks later he has a PET scan to see if the cancer has been eradicated.

Ive had my appointment for pre med and admission, the operation is on the 12 of march,so im really scared now.

ps he says bile and liver enzymes problems with pancreas,so this the link ive got, dont want to be reading about it otherwise i will worry more, oh and i dont have a fatty liver, i remember that bit from the scan, so thats some good news i guess. thanks again joy xx

sorry joy may not have took it all in, my body is not processing fat, and ive got to have a liver fuction test , ive probably linked the two, mayby pancreas is linked with liver tests or bile? dont know but will ask why when seen, its hard for any normal person to take in what docs etc tell you, let alone someone with a memory like mine :-S however john comes in with me and he says the same as me. thanks for help though really appreciate it xx :-D

if your liver does not prosses fat
you dont lose weight you put it on
due to the liver storing the fat as been unable to prosses it

hello everyone.
alyson, sorry to hear your husband had problems eating, but that is part of the illness. when my daughter was in hospital for 9 months she went from a healthy 3 st4 to 2 st 2. she was skin and bone and bedridden. but they put a feeding tube in and this was used for all her medicines except for chemo. i was trained to give all the drugs and also put up the milk bags and change all the tubes.

now that probably sounds really complicated, but once i had manged it a few times it was easy. but moreso, it gave me something to focus on and i really felt i was doing something positive to help her.
when we came home after 9 months, i had a drip machine in the bedroom and milk feeds sent through the post for 6 months until she put on weight.

she had 9 doses of chemo, 5 hour operation on her stomach and surounds, high dose chemo(8 weeks in strict isolation) and 3 weeks of radiotherapy.

now dont want to bamboozle you with too much and also each persons treatment is individual so you ohs plan may differ. it wil seem like a long path with windy roads but im sure eventually the road will straighten out and you will be able to see straight ahead, it will just take a while.

i just threw myself into caring for my daughter and was always busy. when she used to sleep in the afternoons, i took that chance to get off the ward and go outside for a walk to local shop or just for fresh air. i appreciate that you may be at home and not so easy. but if he has a rest do you have anyone to stay with him so you could get out for a couple of hours?

i will be thinking of you and do know what you are going through, truly i do. but have to be positive and not let him see you get upset just try to smile and have tears in private, thats what i did. so my daughter smiled most of the time, she was a true fighter and will be 15 in sep this year.

think i better bring this saga to a close otherwise it becomes a book lol.

Just thought I'd let you know Puss that I have made an appointment for Monday to see my husbands Dr. I know he wil noy be able to tell me anything but I will at least be able to put him in the picture about Oh's voilent behavior and what the police social services and my doctor think. Elaine. :-(

So sorry Alyson that i wasnt here for you last night i hope you feel brighter this morning, have you got a macmillian nurse, that can be there for you also, you shouldnt think about others this is about you and your husband and you are both going through hell, its unbearable watching someone you love suffer, please pm me if you ever want a quiet chat i check puter a few times a day.
my operation may not lead to a hysterectomy, there doing some repair work and looking at a suspicious area on my cervix then through a laporectmy its a cut along bekini line, only if the womb is diseased or irrepairable , she did say to expect it but im optimistic, i have a black tar like loss, and she says it could endometrial cancer, but we dont know for sure until im on the table, but i had a email, after disgussing my liver function test was abnormal, (i dont drink anymore) and having problem with bowels she has asked me to make an appointment at docs, as shes gyne only which is a bummer cause i thought while i was under she could check that, so looks like a fun year, but like you are Alyson being a excellent carer, i too have my OH who i know will take care of me, as he already does, im banned from beyond the front garden on my own now after last week, managed to forget and lose debit card twice lost a phone in my pocket, just to name a few, i think its the tablets im on, one of them says it can lead to early dementia.


S orry to hear about your dad too, its so difficult , ive had to be mums support as she is devasted still understandably, knowing if his results had been checked 6 years ago, he would have still been here,.

please dont suffer alone your more than welcom on here but sometimes proffessional help is required and you must use that, you have to make sure your ok to be there for your husband, re; weight loss, like a lot of ilnesses and some treatment causes it, ive lost 3 stone very quickly AND A liverTEST HAS SHOWN A PROBLEM CORRECTION LIVER TEST IS NOT TOTALY RESPONSABIL , it could be a number of things, lik enzymes ect its annoying to think all those years ive tried to loose weight and then that happens, its weired being slim again :-0 :-0 :-0

Thankyou for your kind words. Sorry to hear about your Dad. I lost my Dad nearly 5 years ago ( under different circumstances) but it is still this far on very raw. Still cannot look at his picture even.
Hubby seems a little better today. He has just drunk a cup of soup and managed that OK. If he loses excessive weight then we will have to have a pump in the house to feed him over night. God i hope it does not come to that. Thousands of pounds is a lot to use on travelling expenses. At the moment we are using £50-£60 a week in petrol which is chicken feed to what it cost you. Today has been a low day for me for some reason but i have to pick myself up. Hubby getting the treatment he needs and getting over this is the most important thing at the moment.
Hope all goes well with the hysterectomy.

hi Aylison, you are both still going through so much, never mind saying there is people worse of, this your lives this is affecting, and it must be horrendous to watch someone you love go through so much discomfort, and something as simple as eating causing pain, you as the full time carer need to rest and make sure your eating properly, i hope the trial works for you both, how do you feel about it, would you rather he had the op as well as chemo and radio xxx

Also the traveling can be exhausting to when we were visiting my dad we had to hundreds of miles a week, we had spent over 5 thousand in petrol alone, it was worth it he was lucky we managed to keep the fact he was dying away from him, a doctor had tried telling him apparently but he said he didnt want to hear anymore, i remeber the next day he was crying as we walked in, we told he had dreamed it and then he was fine and it was never mentioned again, anyway keep positive sorry didnt mean to go on, things are still raw, i know you all understand anyway xxxxx

In one way i guess we are fortunate that they are going for a full cure with my hubby but of course nothing is 100%. Seeing some of the patients at the hospital brings it home to you just how many people are suffering with this awful disease. It is exhausting having to travel every day to the hospital but again not as far as some people have to travel. There is a scheme here that uses volunteers to take patients back and forth the hospital but as we have our own car i think that is best left for those people that need it more.
My hubby is part of a trial where they are trying to prove that chemo and radiotherapy alone will work without the need for surgery. We discussed this trial for days between ourselves before coming to the conclusion that without trials maybe treatments would not be as far advanced so opted in. There were 2 possible paths that could have been taken and a computer would randomly decide which path hubby's treatment would take. This would also take the decision of what to go for out of our hands and into the hands of fate. The first path is an operation to remove the cancer followed by chemo and radio. The second path was just the chemo and radio. Hubby has gone down the path of chemo and radio without the surgery.
This past few days hubby is really struggling to eat or drink as it is so painful. When he drinks part of the liquid is going down the wrong tube and he then coughs it back up again. He has been advised to try milkshakes because they are thicker and might go down properly and also to try eating jelly which he tried today and found it OK. He has lost just over 4kg in weight in under a week so that is something they are concerned about so they have given him nutrition drinks that he can syringe down the feeding tube in his stomach . Got another review tomorrow so will see what they say.
