i had a hysterectomy 1st april for low grade cancer in my womb surgery went very well and ive been told no further treatment is needed as they got all the bad cells away. how lucky and blessed am i. feeling great just getting over such a big op but with loads of help im slowly getting back to normal.but when your told that c word you recoil and think death its not we have such skilled surgeons who help so many people. be encouraged. i lost my mum 21yrs ago to breast cancer so i know about cancer its about time a cure was found now. lovely to read everyones storys although upsetting i am also encouraged by many.thank you for this chat line on here. maria. |

Hi Annie, I take lanzaprozol for my stomach acid, it helps a lot. I was doing the same as you, having to sit up in bed, my stomach gets very painful if I run out of tablets and miss just one day of them. Hope you are feeling better soon. |

Hi annie glad you took a break the medical staff have a lot to answer for sometines, when Sdad went to the hospital to see how the biopsy had gone , this was a month later the doctor said to my Sdad what can i do for you, my Sdad replied and said its about my biopsy, the doctor replied its very bad news im afaraid but im not in a position to discuss this with you then walked out, about 15 minutes later the consultant went on to tell him he had cancer, this is the 2nd negligent thing that happened. |

Puss, it might be an idea to read up a bit on the effects of Radiotherapy, just so that you have all the up to date info for your mum. |

Hiya Annie, yes, I get my sleepless nights... I spoke to my consultant, and I use something called Nytol on a bad night.... it is herbal, and over the counter, however... I am not taking very much (steroids just now, and also plain old blood pressure tablets) so you will need to speak with your medics first, as you are taking meds all the time... or even the pharmacist, as they will know what is safe to use. I get off fine, normally, but wake up after a couple of hours and just can't get back off. |

Puss, you have done the right thing. If the worst should be diagnosed, at the small size you say, you should be able to get away with a lumpectomy anyway, But fingers crossed it will just be a benign lump. |

Mum had a lot of radiotherapy when her breast cancer spread to her bones - no hair loss or nausia, she just felt very tired and sometimes had patches of red skin which was hot. She was given cream to put on the patches to soothe them and they calmed down reasonably quickly. Once she'd had the first treatment Mum never dreaded having to go because it worked so well for her. I hope it goes well for your stepdad. |
