Well the rain stopped mid morning and the sun came out ,now the sky is black as your hat and its looking like it will soon tip down.

Colin decided to put some new hinges on one of the kitchen unit doors and I asked if he could swap two of the doors over as the door under the sink is beginning to wear slightly on the bottom edge and one of the doors over the other side of the kitchen is a door that we really use ,well all was going well he had put the new hinges on and then he got both the doors off to swap over ,put one door back on when I could hear a bit of swearing ,he had only put the same door back in place instead of sawpping them over lol so we stopped for lunch .

You've done well untangling your clematis and rose AnnG. I've changed the beds and got the bedding and all our clothes for the past week washed. Some is in the dryer at the moment and the rest hung around the place. I don't have an airing cupboard. There is a cupboard on the landing which houses the hot water tank but that tank is very large and there is also an expansion tank leading from it so there is no room for any shelves.

OH went out in the rain and cleared up the remains of a dead pigeon. There were feathers everywhere. We suspect the cat over the back who is very small but very feisty and seems to spend more time in our garden than in his own. If OH hadn't been around I would have to have found someone who could do it for me as I cannot touch birds. I feed them and love watching them but I can't handle them, dead or alive. I must be a real wuss but it's a phobia I've had since I was a small child.

Just remembered I stripped my bed and took the bedding down to the washing machine but I forgot to go back upstairs and remake the bed. I'd better do that now before I forget again.

It is dry and sunny here still and 12 degrees so not too bad. I didn't plan to do too much gardening to rest my leg after the exercise and sitting long hours yesterday. So at 0915 while the energy was highest after breakfast I went out to tackle a problem I could see from my 'office' window. The clematis that used to grow towards the end of the garden but was choked by the ivy I have been trying to get rid of, has turned and made its way up the garden and in the 3 weeks away combined with another clematis that is a bit of a thug travelling towards the house. In doing so the two clematis have strangled a very old lovely rose. I just spent half an hour first pulling up some thug geraniums which are very pretty but too prolific, as they were in my wa; and have, I think untangled both clematis from the rose. I will now have to wait and see if it has survived. It must be over 35 years old as it was in the garden 32 years ago when we moved in. It is a tall floribunda. The brown bin is full to the top so that is my excuse for no more weeding at the moment.
I also have a wash load in the drier and my next job is to empty the airing cupboard. and put the clothes away.

Morning all,

13 degrees andmostly sunny by the pc . It raned last night before I went to bed and in the night when I got up for the loo in the early hours trouble is when you get rian like that in June it makes the weeds grow even faster.

Just a lazy day today for me as my knee is a bit tight this morning but I may do a bit in the garden if it stays dry. I'll see.

Good morning AnnG and all

What happened to flaming June? It’s 9 degrees, windy and very wet here. The weather app has just told me it’s going to stop raining in 6 minutes and start again 10 minutes later. I was planning to do a bit more in the garden but that won’t be happening now. I’ll do the washing as usual but it will have to go in the drier or be hung around the house and I really need do a bit of shopping and go into the chemist but I don’t feel much like traipsing around in the rain.

I’ve been up quite a while but haven’t dressed or had breakfast yet so that had better be my first job.

Good morning sunny with cloud and 9 degrees. feels cold indoors, not much like June.
Nothing planned, might trim a few bits to fill the bin as it is garden bin collection tomorrow.
I have the PC man coming to give my PC a health check around 12.

It has been cold today but I have not been outside much. Went to New Dawn for lunch , roast beef, and then to Roses Theatre to see Armadaus. It was a local Amdram society production. Very well done and very long two and a half hours plus twenty minute interval. Main character on stage the whole time. Goodness knows how he managed to learn and remember all his lines. Fortunately I read the synopsis on google before I went, but I could actually hear every word of his. Some of the females had soft voices.

Ann I just don't manage the garden now but just do bits here and there and I am hoping they will all join up before they need doing again.

I hav'nt done any gardening today as my knees are complaining too. The hen is still broody and I am only getting two eggs from the new hens. I chuck her out of the nest box in the morning and shut the house pop hole so she can't get back in and I am hoping this will cure her. I had just cleaned out the water bowl this morning and when she came out she had a bit to eat and then went to the water bowl and put her feet in it to scrape and made it all muddy again. She's a blessed nuisance. I just have to remember to open the pop hole when I corn them or none of them will get in the house.

Not done much at all today but it is Sunday a day of rest. Had my big breakfast and ow I am peckish again so I think a salmon and cuecumber roll is on the cards.

Evening All,

It's been cooler and dull a lot of today. What a shame Dr Michael Moseley has been found dead now. I watched his programmes and liked him as he made things easy to understand. The post mortem will find the cause of death but those temperatures were fierce and walking in that rocky terrain when he took a wrong path must have been exhausting.

My knees were sore this morning so I had to hang onto the doorframe to get down our doorstep. I didn't try anything in the garden today, but they stiffened up with sitting for long so I've been getting up and down all day! I must ease up on the garden jobs that involve bending for a day or two. OH dug up a fuschia and pretty bright pink geranium out of the borfer where the neighbour's builder will be starting on her wall tomorrow. He's left them in a humper for me to put in big pots for now. He says a lot of the chionodoxa bulbs came up too so he's saved those for me to replant.

I hope you enjoy your outing and at least you will have had a nice meal and chat AnnG.

The food delivery came this afternoon and the subs were ok so that was good. OH always finds fault with something I've ordered lately and this time it was toilet rolls I'd ordered, when we already had some. What does it matter, they will keep I thought, so he got told 'If you can do better', lol. It's a job I'd be happy to hand over. He did help me by putting most things away including in the garage freezers, even if I won't be able to find what I want! lol. It was still a help.

Vera I wish OH would help clean out cupboards, but I agree it can be frustrating how our bodies complain and ache and hold us up with jobs we would have whizzed through when we were younger.

Window cleaner tomorrow, so an early shower in case he might come. Then I need to swap a top I bought the other day. OH will take me as there is a Works there for him to browse in.

Mel I don't know how you manage such a big garden. I know I couldn't. Is the hen you thought was broody still sitting in the nestbox and does Phil2 still visit?

I hope you are feeling a lot better now Mandy and that the lower dose of iron tablets aren't causing any problems. Did you get your lights all put up?

I've just counted 11 spam emails this weekend.

Good morning

Sun was shining so brightly at 6 am that it hurt my eyes just looking out of the window. Now it’s all cloudy again.

I haven’t got any plans for the day, just take it as it comes.

I hope you enjoy your lunch and theatre trip AnnG. You might like the play more than you think, provided they speak clearly. I saw it yonks ago (1990s?) and really enjoyed it.

Morning all,

12 degrees and sunny here and pc says high pollen count. We've blue sky wiithh big white clouds and a tiny breeze.

Have a nice lunch and outing Anng I am sure you will enjoy it with your friends.

Bit achey this morning from yesterdays gardening but I shall throw myself into it again today if I can. Every little bit counts in this garden with it being so big you don't notice it though. BIL did notice I had cleaned the decking by my pond and the filter shed so that was good.

I didn't see this until now. How sad Ann, I am so sorry to read your news. It is always so hard to lose a friend. I do remember you mentioning her being a friend from beading. you will miss her.

Good morning all bright and sunny so far but only 8 degrees. apparently it was only going to be 5 degrees over night I quickly nipped out and lifted a small tomato in a pot into the conservatory for overnight. the others are larger so hope they will survive these weird June temperatures we are getting.

I am out for lunch to a pub that none of the 6 of us have been to before. But it has had good comments. then we are going to a production of the play Armadeus in Tewkesbury. I am not sure it is my scene, or if I will be able to hear but it is a trip out. Being picked up at 1215.

Evening All,

I lost a post on thursday an gave up then! Yesterday I had some upsetting news, as a good friend that I made at a beading course years ago and aged 71, passed away on Wednesday. She was out riding on Saturday and was feeling well and positive when she went into hospital for the operation on Sunday. I didn't know she was having an operation, as she never used to mention things like that, but I knew she had scans from time to time and was being monitored after having lung cancer about 3 years ago. I don't know if it was connected to the operation this time though. She was lucky they found it at that time as a scan after a DVT in her thigh picked it up early and it was operated on and she didn't even need chemo or radiaton afterwards. At the time I knitted her some of the fingerless owl gloves from a pattern of Mandy's and she was over the moon with them and wore them round the house when she came out of hospital. She was a lovely lady, kind in word and deed and always helping people. She had an allotment, but gave most of what she grew away. She lived on her own and never complained or said anything unkind. She did circle dancing, african drumming, sang and played guitar with other musicians, morris dancing. I could fill a page with the things she did to help others. I will really miss her.

Did a bit more cutting down in the garden today. Tired now and going to dive down the freezer for something to eat. Knees a bit sore.
