Evening All,
Lost a post earlier, so will try again in the morning. :-|

I meant to ask aboiut the puncture Vera. Have you had it done and did it go down again?

Done the big pond filter and corned the chickens and done a bit of painting. Fed the fish and did a little drill out of some jug handles. Now I am going to have a cuppa. Its been a beautiful day and I thik after my COT and a danish I may go and have another go at the road.

Keep it up Ann I used mine on my arm that time I hurt it and eventually it worked.

I have been up the village and posted a pardel and bought myself a naughty cake for afternoon tea. Just had some toast and marmite for lunch and before that I cleaned the big pond filter again. With this expensive food I bought which is the one oh always used during the summer I have not had so much foam on top of the filter which is good as it seems to be working much better now.

Aunty Joy rang this morning and we had a good old chinwag for 44 mins. I'm pleased she rang me! She had a hip op 2 weeks ago and she is one of those people who can'nt stay indoors and has to be out most of the day. She did work in the charity shops in Bideford to get her out of the house. I bet she is so bored not being able to go out. She tells me her second girl is thinking of moving to Exeter from Bideford as she was to see her grandchild grow up. You would really think it would'nt be too much trouble to go there once in a while but there you go. If it was me it would'nt stop me going once every month or even twice a month. Its about 42 miles from Bideford to Exeter.

I also asked about my aunt in Woodford Bridge, Mum's brothers wife, as I did'nt have a card from her this Christmas past.

Its funny the things you remember thinking about Aunt Yvonne she was married to mums brother Roy who has now sadly passed but mum never called him Roy she called him Pim. I asked her once why? but can't remember what she told me. It could have been that Joy could'nt say Roy so she called him Pim but she never did when they were older.

I have only used it once so far Mel but while using it it helped, so far not made any difference. But really can't judge on one time using.

Had to catch up with the posts. A nice bright usnny mornng hsere at the mo and its 15 degrees and pc says sunny.

I woke at 5.23am for the loo and went back to bed and dropped off staight away then woke at 7.40am so lay for a little while as I was comfy.

Do you think the wheat bag helps Anng?

I have to catch the post van this morning so I better get on but will BBL as I forgot yesterday.

I just beat you there Vera. I was up early but I didn't have a bad night, only got up once for the loo and finally woke at 05 55 I did come round a couple of times but went off again quite quickly.

I bet that talk title would catch out a few people Vera. I suppose it could be mildly interesting.

It is 11 degrees here now so has gone up quite quickly.

I woke at 3am and lay dozing, tossing and turning till 5 when I decided I might as well get up. It looks as though it might be better weather today. At the moment it’s still quite cool but it’s bright and sunny.

Mandy, I bought that card about watching tv with his eyes closed for OH’s birthday last year and it really amused him.

It’s good that OH was in and out of his scan so quickly Annx. I hope he doesn’t have to wait long for his results. I hadn’t thought about how the Portal works if you are sent to different hospitals as I’ve only been sent to the West Suffolk in recent years but I have been referred to Ipswich in the past and I think patients are occasionally referred to Colchester. I might look into that,

I’ve not got any plans for the day apart from h/w and washing. Tonight there’s a club meeting with a speaker on “Stars and their Wars” which intrigued me but I’ve now been told it refers to film stars so doesn’t really sound my thing. We’ll go as we’re a smallish group and I know there are 3 people unwell and another 3 on holiday so the numbers will be down.

I think I’ll go and do some ironing now. I’m trying to find things that I can do without waking OH up. Have a good day whatever you are planning.

Good morning all sunny so far and 8 degrees. Yesterday was sunny, even when staying indoors it is much nicer if it is sunny outside.
I might just walk down to Irene's to take some books back. I couldn't go the other day I had planned as it rained. I want to go in to town but Wednesday I have a dentist appointment and that means walking there and back as Cynth is away so I need to no overstretch my leg beforehand.

You had a nice weekend seeing the family Mandy, the young ones certainly know when to ask for things don't they.? Still if you can't spoil them when young. I suppose the sketch pads are not cheap either. good to encourage them if it is something they are good at doing.

It's been quite a nice day today we have had sun and we made the most of it by sitting out for an hour or so this afternoon, there was a little rain first thing but if soon went over .
Yesterday we had a lot of heavy showers and thunder and lightning in the afternoon, Katie came just after lunch and as it was coming down quite hard when it was time for her to go we ran her home , this morning we went to sons for coffee and I took the cakes I had made for them .
Katie and Lacey were showing me the sketches they had been doing and Katie's were really quite good ,she was asking her mum and dad for another sketch pad and then Lacey and Lewis asked for one too so we gave them some money to get some more .
Lewis had some raffle tickets from his school so we bought some of them and somehow we came home twenty pounds lighter .

Vera the tyre going down is a real puzzle very strange it stayed pumped up after being so flat ,any more problems with it since .

Ann thats good OH was in and out before his time that's why I like to get there early too ,hope the results don't take to long and there's no problems .
I have my ultra sound next Monday, son is going to take me .

We had to smile at a card that dil bought Colin for fathers day from the grandchildren it has a man laying on a sofa with his eyes closed and says Grandad is an expert at watching the television with his eyes closed lol

Just over a foot long and the wheat is loosely packed so moves around. But it is fine 2 minutes is just right.

Me too Anng. I don't think you are supposed to heat the wheat bage more than two mins and don't reheat when they are still warm. In the past I did burn one.

How big is it and is it a long one? If you put a cup of boiling water in with it it should help as if its stood for a while the wheat will be very dry and needs hydrateing so you did the right thing putting the cup of water in. My small money (which is really a childrens one) has an opening that you can take out the small bag of wheat and just put that in with the water but my long one is just a bag with cotton one side and fleece the other but I find the wheat often goes to one end and I have to keep flattening it out.

Found a couple of wheat heat pads that were T's. Tried one out when I had coffee. It did help but it must be the most difficult place to put a heat pad on (Leg). Mel, how long do you heat yours for. I found one minute was not enough so did it for two. I had seen a tip to have a cup of water in with it so did that.

Fathers' day today so facebook is full of messages. another day that is hard on two counts (My dad and my children's Dad) Both much missed as both good Fathers.

15 degrees and partly sunny by the pc and it is sunny at the mo. I hope it stays like this all day we have deep blue sky and huge puffy white clouds and I hav'nt been out yet but it dos'nt look like theres much wind today. Overslept, got up at 5.15am for the bathroom and went back to bed for a while and then woke at 10.23am so its put me all behind for today now but I suppose I must have needed it.

Also woke with backache and don't know why as I was'nt doing anything much yesterday. O well onwards and upwards.

Good morning all, feels a bit chilly, but it is early, I don't seem to be able to sleep beyond 0600 these days. 10 degrees out there, it has been raining but the sun is shining now. Another day with nothing planned.

I somehow missed your last post Vera. I am surprised how many small new weeds are growing here too and when I saw those on the front garden this morning I thought 'hoe'.It's because it got neglected last year and the weeds were able to produce and scatter their seeds.

I was interested in what you said about being paperless and looking at the hospital portal. No-one has ever suggested this to us and I don't know if we could do it as we can be sent to any of the three city hospitals or even a Drs Surgery out of the city like today. I might ask the Dr about it next time I go. We've still had nothing in the post at all. It's a good job we have mobiles and got the text reminder. :-S

The heavens opened when we set off for OH's scan and there was fork lightning on the way with thunder. One bridge we went under had a queue as everyone was crawling through in the middle of the road, but still making bow waves as high as the cars. When we got there we were amazed to find the big carpark locked with those bars that go up and down and a keypad next to it. No-one was parked there, so I assume they must lock it after surgery. I've never seen a surgery carpark locked before. We drove back up the side and near the front there were just 3 spaces made at the side that were full but one car was pulling out luckily. It was a private, mobile scanner parked outside and OH was finished before his appointment time, which was good and it sounded like a CT scan being so quick. Then we had a journey home full of traffic queues everywhere, which tested his patience! We changed our route a couple of times as we thought they were all heading for the retail park, but it was just as bad coming into our village the back way. We noticed the traveller site not far from us not only has the sliding security gates now, but they have fixed boards on the back of them so no-one can see through and a bit concerning have put a six inch deep iron bar across the opening a few feet in front of the gate along the grass verge which I thought wasn't their land. It makes you wonder why?

Your car tyre is a mystery Vera, but AnnG and Mel have come up with possibilities. If he hasn't already it might be worth creeping the car along your drive and stopping and looking to see if you can see anything in the tyre. If he's checked the pressure today it is odd, unless Mel's suggestion is right and he's parked over the puncture. The tyre place will check it for him though and I suppose it could be the valve sticking like AnnG said.

Sun's out now, but there's admin to do and a bed to be changed so I'd better get on.

The rain started around 11 am which is why OH had to stop cleaning the paving. It was on and off for a couple of hours and then we had quite a thunderstorm. We didn’t see any lightening but the thunder sounded as though it was right overhead and the rain just fell out of the sky. So much for flaming June! I felt at this time of year we should have a salad for lunch, instead I took some peppery leek and potato soup from the freezer to warm us up.

Mel, I think air would still escape even if the car was parked so any damage was underneath the tyre against the ground but OH will check again in the morning and if necessary will move the car. AnnG I asked him about the valve but he said it seemed quite tight when he attached the pump.

While OH was doing the paving this morning I thought I ought to be working in the garden too. My back isn’t good today so kneeling and stretching over beds to weed didn’t seem like a good idea but I got the hoe and managed to hoe out a lot of the small, creeping weeds that seem to want to take over our garden. I was going to clean the bird baths next but the weather defeated me.

I hope OH’s scan went well and didn’t take too long Annx. It’s annoying that he didn’t get an appointment letter. Do you think the hospital hasn’t sent it or is it still stuck somewhere in the postal system? I am registered at our hospital to go paperless so my information comes through texts and emails, although I often get a letter as well. I am also registered with the hospital’s portal so I can go into that and check on upcoming appointments.

Sun’s just come out but I can see the trees blowing around so it must still be windy. I think I’ll make a cuppa (kettle is always on in our house) and watch this morning’s Trooping the Colour on my iPad.

It's raining that fine stuff here but not cold. We are off to the other side of the city for OH to have his scan soon. Still no appointment letter in today's post so he doesn't know what kind of scan it will be but has dressed in a tracksuit and t shirt with no metal anywhere.

The builder still hasn't been back to finish the wall, so I've put my car back on the drive for now.

Your garden is looking lovely AnnG and a credit to you looking after it on your own. As I said, your pink rose is stunning! Your elderly neighbour sounds a bit like my first FIL. He was a very keen gardener, grew and sold plants and grew veg in his 100 foot long garden. When his wife passed away, he carried on with what he had always done in his garden, but just left everything she used to do which was all the flower garden and pruning and clearing up.

Vera I was really fancying your meal you had with the birthday girls. It's a lovely idea to have your birthday get togethers, but sad that two now have dementia. The episode of the Piano at Cardiff station had a 90 year old father with dementia sitting and watching his daughter play a beautiful, moving welsh hymn called I'll send you an angel. He had sung all his life and his daughter said when she played it he would cry. A welsh male voice choir were there singing too and you could see the recognition in the old man's face as he started to mouth the words and remember. Even Mika was so moved by it there were tears in his eyes.

Mandy you are doing well with your 'garden gifts' you lay out. I bet you are wondering what else you have for the tip that could be given away like that too. It saves loading up and taking them to the tip and unloading and people who can use the things would be chuffed with them.

Mel what is stopping you from using the new keyboard? I bet BIL would plug it in for you if you aren't sure what to do. It sounds like you have had more rain than us. It's been showery here but they have been short.

Better get changed to go with OH now as he's allowing a lot of extra time to get there as usual.

Oh just as they leave the parade ground to March to the palace and just as the king got into his carriage it chucked it down. The poor men marching. And in sympathy it suddenly rained hard here.
