Good morning all 14 degrees here now and sunny. got to get some of the holiday stuff sorted today.
Yes Ann it is an interesting subject but quite difficult unless you are able to visit places with shops in the evenings when shop fronts are not obscured by people. I shall have to have my eyes open when up with daughter.
I have sent my hidden beauty photos, the best I could do but as good as everyone elses.

Sorry AnnG, yes it was shop fronts, silly me! Another interesting theme though. :-)
I asked the doctor what might help when he decided to run the blood tests and he suggested them. You can buy them off the shelf but then the fit wouldn't be as good. The doctor didn't need any details other than to write a prescription as the pharmacy does the measuring and ordering. When I go to be measured in a week's time I'll ask how long I'll have to wait for them and how long each day I need to wear them, as they won't be a good look with the knee length trousers I usually wear in summer to keep cool! My last thyroid test showed I was borderline too low which can cause it (and make it hard to lose weight!) and another cause is sitting too long which I do because my knees hurt standing or walking for long. I'm ready for the knacker's yard really, but I need to do whatever will help, so the kitchen timer is next to the PC so I get up more often and raising my legs should help. Losing weight will help as well. I'm hoping that just wearing them around the house will be enough. In the morning my ankles look fine.
With my reactions to bites I put a few smears of Deet on when I go out and it keeps the biters away Mel. It's better than being eaten alive as well. It sounds like you need a beekeepers outfit on otherwise!

Ann you say ‘doorways’ for my next subject. It is actually shop fronts but I suppose that will include doorways.
Not sure I remember you needing compression stockings. Florence in the Hebrides is waiting for some. I think there is a long waiting list for hers but that may be because of where she lives.
I hope that they finally get your internet sorted on Monday. We didn’t see you yesterday and I thought we had lost you again.
Maybe GPS don’t have all the details about the stockings as Florence had the same trouble. (See the chit chat thread)

Ann thats what I meant thaat the man who came connected your cable to next door. When we had the koi they were only about 4 or 5 inches long.
Went to the show and had a look around and there were classes I could have gone in under arts and crafts so I could have put my whitches cottage in and there was no Raspberry gin but mainly sloe. The photos were'nt that much either but a couple of nce ones that had first prize of trees in the nature class and nothing else I can remember so not much good I would say. I usually go inthe bookmark class and most of them this year were crocheted. There was some wonderful painting though. A beautiful large cockrel in one and third prize for that but the big one of a sheeps head got first prize, all in nuwteral colours it was wonderful you could just reach out and touch it. Lots of flowers and potted plants in various size pots and lovely veg and fruit. Some great runners a huge tomato, gigantic onions and cues so fat I would'nt like to eat them I like small skinny ones.
I was naughty and had a burger while I was there so son't know whether to have my steak tonight now. Did'nt win anything on the raffle and there were'nt that many prizes there.
Well I better go and corn the girls and make myself a drink, Iv'e had a glass of water so I think a black coffee is on the menu.

Afternoon All,
It's only 20 degrees here now but after a sunny start is dull and feels quite muggy to me and I'm hot now just from preparing veg for the slow cooker. I was hoping to use up some tomato sauces I'd forgotten were in a box in the conservatory. They were well out of date though and remembering the heat in there last summer I thought better of it!! I found one in the kitchen that was less out of date and which tasted ok and checked online and it said it would be ok to eat, just the quality might not be so good. So that's been added to sliced mushrooms and onions, chopped peppers and chicken pieces. Something to squirrel away in the freezer to have with wholewheat rice when I don't have a clue what to have to eat!
Gwyn it's only this year that we have started seeing Red Kites. I saw them once where Jane lived about 30 miles away from me, so I think they must have spread further north. We have a large quarry a couple of miles from here and I expect they may hang out there with the Buzzards, although I think they like tall woodland trees.
I love the 'doorways' subject for your next meeting AnnG. It will be interesting t see what people come up with for that one.
I was really missing growing beans when I saw your lovely fresh ones Mandy. I bet they were lovely! Yum yum! I love the little doll you knitted, complete with her little bag with the flower on and sweet little shoes with buttons! You are so good at knitting!
I can imagine how it must be a worry to see Colin so tired, but just make sure he is still drinking enough now things have 'moved' as dehydration causes fatigue and can cause dizziness. If he's still the same by Monday seeing the doc again is a good idea. You asked about the courses, but I have only done the 3 week one on figure drawing, which was useful to get proportions right, but there haven't been any others from the teacher I had, except some beginners portrait ones. He also teaches local to where he lives in the south as well since the pandemic, so may not have as much time for online ones now.
We have had an update on the internet saga that they hope to finish the work on Monday, quicker than we expected, so we expect to be offline at least some of the day. Mel it was our neighbour's line being cut and their engineer disconnecting our cable to use for them that caused us to lose the internet and landline, not the engineer cutting our line.
That was a beautifully coloured Koi you lost Mel. Were they all small when you got them? I didn't realise you were having a shingles jab either and don't remember whether mine was painful after.
Yesterday we went to Boots for me to be measured for compression stockings and wouldn't you know it we have to make an appointment now. I suppose I should have checked before we went. They have a silly system in place with various places to queue along the counter according to what you want, but the markings are on the floor so people are standing on them and so covering them up. They told me I need to get a prescription from the doctor and then they get them made to fit you properly and of course won't cost me anything then. So why didn't the GP or nurse I saw tell me this and issue a prescription? At least my blood tests were ok so hopefully it isn't the leaky heart valve causing it which I was worried about. That was discovered after a panic attack and an echocardiogram over 10 years ago and has never been monitored since by my GP surgery like the NHS site suggests. I'm hoping my weight is the cause which I am starting to reduce again now, but I still need to see the doctor now he has the results.
OH has gone 60 miles to Wisbech to a match today, so won't be home till later. It's pouring with rain now and cooler and will save any watering.

Just watching the Olympic cycling and they keep going down like flies as the roads are wet . What did everyone think of the opening ceremony I turned over after a while as I didn't think it seemed that special with them going up the river.I did see the end where they light up that balloon with the torch.

Sometimes sleeping is because of boredom but you will know if he has no energy. I didn't realise that he had a covid test, must have missed that. Hopefully it is just a virus and he will sleep it off. But If he is still sleeping a lot after the weekend there is no harm in contacting your surgery again.

Anng the water sample came back as satisfactory so he hasn't got any antibiotics, the doc wondered if it was a flu virus but he's had no flu symptoms, he did take him off one of his blood pressure tablets he said they can lower the blood pressure he just said see how you go, that's also why he did a covid test but that was negative, so I don't know I just don't like seeing him like that . He's watching the Olympics now and is more awake but I bet within half an hour he'll have nodded off sgain .
I'm just knitting the doll for something to do really when I'm watching the television in the evening .

The doll is a good size then Mandy. Who is that one for?
It may still be the UTI or the effects of the antibiotic making Colin sleep. But if he is not gettting up and walking around much it won't help his tummy trouble.

Morning all,
Bit cloudy but there is sun ,stripped the bed this morning so thats on the line ,just given the bathroom a wipe round and now putting a piece of gammon on to cook .
Things have moved for Colin but I'm still worried about him he just wants to sleep all the time, everything I look at him he's got his eyes closed so I think its back to the doctors next week I expect it will be blood tests etc.
Anng thats the bit I don't like having to put the shopping all away , you asked on the email what size the doll is, it's about 15 inches it's bigger than it says in the book it should be 11 inches as it should be knitted in 4ply but I used double knit on a smaller needle .
Mel time your bil has finished repairing the mower it will be purring .

Mandy your beans look so good and I envy you being able to pick already.
I think BIL is coming again today so I better get ready for him and dort something for lunch. Think he fiddling with the mower again. It certainly went better yesterday after its filter change and I think he has a new plug for it.
Will try to go to the shop a bit earlier today and get some nice rolls and my usual bits and bobs but if I go earlier its usualy busy.

Morning girls,
16 degrees here at present and the suns shining and I think its going to be another lovely day.
I was a treat this morning to flush the loo and not have to fill a bucket but I can hear it twizzling in the cystern which means it is still letting water into it and that means its going into the septic tank as thats where it overflows down the basin. Shal;l have to have a little adjust I think or at least let Chris know.
I seem to have been bitten all over and am itching like crazy up arms and on my head and back. Shall have to take a pill.

Good morning all. 10 degrees (goodness the early morning temperatures do vary a lot). But the sun is shining so it looks lovely out there.
Vera, at least you know if he repairs little jobs that are unnecessary it may stop them becoming large jobs. Sounds like a busy but productive day for you. Gwyn you asked about photography. Each month we have a different subject . We then put five photos of that subject on a USB. Our technical leader shows them on a screen and remarks on them (kindly) and offers advice. We are a smallish group, yesterday there were 10 of us. The subject this month was "Nature's hidden beauty'.... Next month it is "Shop fronts".
Mandy that was a good healing sleep Colin had while you were out. Hope he continues to improve.

It's very warm though there is a nice gentle breeze. The weather app is telling me it's 23 degrees and feels like 25. The computer is telling me it's only 20 but it does seem to think I am at Stansted which it mis-spells Stanstead.
It's been a busy day again. OH has been busy outside doing (totally unnecessary) repair jobs but it has kept him busy and out of my hair, lol. I hoovered through downstairs and gave the kitchen floor a thorough wash. I think I've said before that we have a large hall, large kitchen-diner, a utility, downstairs cloakroom and a conservatory that are all tiled. Nearly all of it stays looking nice except for the kitchen bit of the kitchen-diner and that always looks grubby to me. I think over the years bits have been dripped on the floor and got ground in. We usually use a steam cleaner but today I got detergent, mops and scrrubbing brush and had a real go at it. I'm still not happy with it :-|
After lunch we popped to Sainsbury's and got some salad and veg and milk and then went into town to stock up on fish at Waitrose. Their fish is nice but it is expensive so if I want any I go on a Friday when it is 20% off if you have a Waitrose card. Since we got back I have wrapped all the fish and got it in the freezer and OH is watering all the pots.
It's good Colin has managed to get some rest Mandy. I hope his tum is feeling a bit better now and will continue to improve.
What a performance with your internet Annx. Sometimes I think we ought to go back to the days of pen and paper but then we had things like a decent postal service to help things along. Somewhere I have a postcard from my great grandmother to a relative in which she says she will be along for tea that afternoon. She posted it in the morning knowing the recipient who lived in the next district would receive it by lunchtime. Can you imagine that today? Btw, we can't order repeat prescriptions by phone normally. It's only to ask for a reissue once you have had your allocated 6 scripts, but I never have to order my tabs because I have nominated a pharmacy to be my usual pick-up point. Everything is done electronically between the GP and the pharmacy. All I have to do is go in every 4 weeks to pick up the meds.
Mel, I hope your plumber is getting your flush fixed and isn't charging an arm and a leg. Your fish had pretty markings and was a good size. I would worry about only paying £12 to have my feet sorted. That price is way out of kilter with normal charges. Is he properly qualified and insured? I pay £41 and that's an average price here.
You must have enjoyed talking to the old members of staff at your school anniversary Gwyn. They probably had a few tales to tell. As you say, where do the years go? It seems only a few weeks ago that I was talking about the birth of our great-granddaughter but in 3 weeks she will be a year old.
Things were pinging just now so I checked and found I have 2 separate emails and 2 texts and an online letter all telling me my June 13th appointment has been cancelled (!) and replaced with one on 23rd August. I am glad I have got the appointment at last but that will be 18 weeks since my previous one when the doctor asked to see me in 8 weeks.
I am now going to go and make us a few sandwiches which we can eat while watching the Olympics opening ceremony. I also treated us to a couple of cherry and almond lattice pastries in Waitrose - a bit naughty but very nice.

Mandy he did bring a load of stuff with him in a cardboard box said he had'nt changed the plug abut put oil in it and something else, I ws'nt really listening as he waffles on about thing I know nothing about. He cut all the lawns without the grass collector on and the mower went really well.
I now have a flushing loo too so two good jobs done today I must go and check the scimmers now as the fish are sucking green stuff off the liner and it blocks up the skimmer net I put on it.
Now I am going to say this now as I keep forgetting, I have 4 eggs in the Swallows nest now. Last time I look about a week ago there were only two but she dos'nt like me being in there and flies out sometimes.
