Morning all,

Sounds as if you had a lovely birthday Anng, your probably well on the way home now so safe journey and hope the roads are not to busy .

Off to do a bit of shopping this morning then calling into sons for a coffee .
Still very muggy indoors as it was still quite hot yesterday again ,Cloudy today and it does seem a bit fresher but it's still early and if the sun comes out I'm sure it will be hot again .

Oh Mel I love some of your plums ,could you bottle some and freeze some ,oh and blackberry jelly my mum use to make that .

Ann thats good OH can have his teeth sorted at the hospital as you say it will save the cost at the dentist.

Oh Vera what a todo with your scripts ,I really thought it had been sorted when you went in ,these things are sent to try us .

Does anyone have any trouble with milk going off before the date ,we always seem to get about an inch or so left in the bottle and it goes off ,I think I've now solved it by leaving the paper/ foil top under the lid on the bottle and just pulling it back at the front of the bottle just enough to pour the milk out that way your not letting as much air into the bottle ,we'll it worked on this last bottle so we'll see if it does on this next one.

Evening All,

It's been cooler today thank goodness. Something has happened with the little window I have open in the bedroom at night and it catches and won't shut without lifting it hard to pull it in. It's UPVC and now I daren't open it again till we can get the window man who has renewed sealed units for us in the past to come and look at it. I hope he will be able to come before the heat returns or I might be sleeping on the settee where it's less hot!

Oh I remember your saga of your tablets before Vera. As you say, why do they change things. I think it's a modern ailment to keep changing things that often don't work properly and drive us all mad. :-S I had an experience with a building society today and their online form that didn't cater for what I wanted to do. 'Oh it's 'generic' I was told on their 'chat', as if that made the problem ok for their customers and they needn't change it. It's such a waste of time when you've jumped through all the hoops of logging on and using codes from your phone to reach a dead end doing something that would have meant a simple phone call in the past. I hope it gets sorted properly for you this time when you see the surgery pharmacist. OH is going to have a problem now he's added statins to his meds, as they will be out of sync with his other meds. I wish our surgery would simply either increase or reduce a new prescription the first time so it renews with our other medication if it's to be an ongoing regular thing.

I'm glad you had two lovely days for your birthday AnnG. I have the same feelings about the children climbing all over the rocky outcrops at the ancient park that houses the ruins of the home of Lady Jane Grey here AnnG. It's a deer park that was bequethed for the 'quiet enjoyment' of local people but it's fast becoming anything but. The children climb and pull apart the ancient rocky outcrops and swing on branches of the ancient oaks and treat it like a playground. They've had to make a rule that all dogs have to be on leads now, because so many have no recall and have injured the deer. There's been damage and poaching and even the staff have been attacked and spat at and mountain bikers seen with a chain saw! The police have to work with the rangers now. A friend's father would take us there when we were children, but we wouldn't dream of climbing or damaging anything as we knew the trees and rocks were ancient and that we were lucky to have such a lovely place. I hope you have a good journey home tomorrow without too much traffic.

I'd have had some of your plums and blackberries Mel! You will have to start putting a table out like you used to do.

Good afternoon all. I followed that very well Vera as I remembered the problem you had last time. Hope you can get it sorted properly with surgery and pharmacies. As if we actually enjoy having to take these pills.

I have had a lovely two days for my birthday. Seeing the young ones yesterday then going out to lunch at a lovely old pub in Caldbek, a village in the shadow of Skiddaw and reached across a fell with wonderful views.

Then today I was given the choice of venue for our day out. It is 18 degrees here but feels warmer in the sun. Which has shone all day and we also had brilliant blue skies. I chose Ullswater knowing anywhere is going to be busy. It is obvious that since Covid and all the hassle with airports more people are holidaying at home. The sad thing is that they flock to the beaches of the lakes like Ullswater and bring their paddle boards, canoes and other small boats, plus their own food and very little money is put into the local economy. The water was very busy and it was good to see the children enjoying themselves and we bought food in the shop in Glenridding and ate our lunch overlooking the lake. We were unable to get into the NT. ar park ar Aira Force so abandoned that and drove to Castlerigg Standing stones. A lot of people there too and we had another rant on seeing parents letting children climb on the stones as if in a playground, and adults all congregating and using the stones as seats. Despite little annoyances it was a lovely day and I am now all packed and sad to be going home tomorrow.

Good afternoon folks

It was so hot and sticky last night that it was impossible to sleep. I eventually dozed off about 4.30 am and slept for a couple of hours. It’s hot again today though maybe just a tad cooler. Currently it’s 25 degrees.

I’m spitting feathers right now. A while ago I went to see the surgery pharmacist to try to sort out my meds. For some reason I had ended up with 2 separate scripts which were ready at different times even though the tabs on one have to be taken with one of the tabs on the other. She said that she would get them amalgamated. Our docs will only issue 28 days meds at a time but will give a double ration if you are going to be away when the next 28 days are due. She said she would arrange this for me. Are you with me so far? Today I went to the pharmacy where I collect my meds and they handed me a tiny bag that contained one small pack of tabs. When I pointed out this wasn’t enough the girl found another larger pack that was in a different drawer. But that was still only 28 days supply. The pharmacy hadn’t been told to give me 56 days. However, the pharmacist said she would do them for me and the assistant brought the script up on the computer. Ten minutes later she gave me another large bag and I came home. Still with me?

At home I emptied all the bags and sorted things out. I now have 3 separate scripts, 56 days supply of 3 tablets but only 14 days supply of the other one. Grrr! So I am now going to have to go back to the pharmacist at the GP surgery and get these scripts sorted out and get a top up for the missing tabs. Looking at the scripts I think the surgery have amalgamated 2 scripts into 1 new one but failed to cancel the original 2 . The chemists where I collect them now have 3 on their computer and I think probably pulled off the wrong one today. What I’ve written probably makes no sense to you as I’m talking about 2 different pharmacists but writing about it has got it off my chest. I was so cross that I needed a good rant. Why on earth did they take an excellent system that ran perfectly and “improve” it so that it doesn’t work at all now.

Enough of that. Annx, thank you for forwarding on AnnG’s email. That must have been lovely to get a hand made card, that was very thoughtful and it’s quite an imaginative drawing. Well done, young lady.

Better get a few jobs done I suppose though I’m struggling to keep my eyes open at the moment. Maybe it will be a cooler night and I’ll get some much needed sleep. I hope you are all OK.

Forgot to pot first thing.

Morning girls 16 degrees here and lovely and cool out as we had fine rain yesterday evening pc is daying partly sunny. I have parcels to do up today but shan't go up the post van today but tomorrow as one dos'nt finish till today and I am hoping they pay today.

The swallows are flying all around the pond this morning loads of them and there's a deer in the garden over the west wall eating the blackberries.

I need to pick plums today up the top field and see how many blackberries there are as I promissed my neighbour some and some apples.

Did you all sleep well last night?

Mandy hows the doll coming along still waiting for a pictures of the last two please.

Four little yellow beaks....how cute Mel. It won't be easy but a photo would be lovday ely.

It's still 18 degrees here at gone 9.00pm and I agree with Vera and her OH as we both think it has felt like the hottest day here today as well. I'm fed up with the heat now as I've no energy to do anything or go anywhere when it's this hot. I've been lucky in that I've slept well at night though. We thought about going to the retail park at Grantham tomorrow, but I think rainstorms are due but it may be cooler. I was about to go to bed when OH rang me from the match for a chat, which he often does at half time!

Asda seem to nearly always send subs now which is annoying as it upsets your meal planning. They seem to like sending subs that are their own brands too. They've stopped doing quite a few things I used to get as well, The latest being their skimmed milk powder which we started getting in the pandemic in case we ran out of the fresh stuff. We found it was really nice in a hot chocolate drink and saved us using up our fresh milk at that time and have carried on with it since.

AnnG and Mel, I would happily swap weather with you if I could. I’d love a bit of your cool and you can have all my heat. We had a shower a little while ago and there’s still some fine rain in the air. I was pleased as I thought it might cool things a little but I think it’s even worse. It was hot, now it’s hot AND muggy. It looks almost as hot where Mandy is so I expect she’d like some cooler air too.

When OH suggested going to Anglesey Abbey on Saturday I nearly said I’d rather go on Monday. I’m glad I didn’t as it’s near Cambridge which was the hottest place in the country yesterday at almost 35 degrees.

Good to hear about the swallow chicks Mel. Will they be ready to fly when they start migrating again? I was pleased to see that all the holes in our bee box have been used and sealed up to protect the babies through the winter. It’s mainly leaf cutter bees but it looks as though there are 2 or 3; mason bees as well. These solitary bees are good pollinators so we try and encourage them. I also noticed a Red Admiral butterfly in the garden this morning and that’s the first I have seen this year.

I’m going to get myself yet another glass of water and shut the computer down for the night. I hope you all have a comfortable night and sleep well.

Its 17 degrees here now andfeels quite chilly out. Sorry Vera.....

I don't know if I said but I am saying it again. I have 4 baby swallows in the nest in the filter shed. They are not very big yet and I can only see them through a mirror on a stick oh had for mending mowers. When I can I will try and get a pic but with it being very dark in there and the parents flying in and out I have to pick the right time and the chicks are black so I can only see their little yellow beaks.

I’m glad you’ve got your shopping Mel. Asda do seem a bit hit and miss with their orders. A friend of mine stopped her weekly delivery a little while ago because they had let her down more than once with her delivery and she got fed up with the number of subs she got.

It’s good the hospital are going to deal with OH’s teeth problems Annx. He must be glad about that.

Your daughter is good to undertake the Thames Bridges walk, Gwyn. My dil did a similar thing a couple of years ago. Hers was a marathon walk in Northumberland but it took place on the absolute hottest day of the year and people were dropping like flies. She managed about three quarters of the distance and was upset not to finish. I don’t think many did finish. I hope the weather is comfortably cool for your daughter.

It is not comfortable here at the moment. It is supposed to be cooler than yesterday but we both think it feels hotter. The app says 27 degrees feeling like 29 but it definitely feels as though it’s up in the 30s and there isn’t a breath of air. I think the fan will be working overtime tonight.

Its arrived I rang them and actually spoke to a person!!!! Sent the 2 subs back so now I am a dinner short this week. I also ordered two lots of tenderstream broccoli by mistake but will cook it and pop it in the freezer. I like the tenderstream rather then the florets.

Good idea to save the fuel and go to a match near where he went for his meeting. everythging is so expensive now and even if the fuel goes down our prices in the shops don't. Thats the excuse they gave for food prices going up so why has the food prices stayed the same?

Just started with that fine rain.

O he came while I was doing the pond filter I better go and have a look and make sure I turned to outflow off.

:-D :-D HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNG :-D :-D I hope ypu enjoy the day whatever you have planned. The little ones especially would have loved singing Happy Birthday to you. The home made lemon drizzle cake sounds nice.

Judging by the ages of the dogs in the rescue place not far from me, a lot were puppies during the pandemic Gwyn and were likely bought by people working from home then. A lot say they aren't housetrained, suffer separation anxiety and need introducing to the outside world, suggesting they haven't been walked. I think they were expected to fit in with family's needs but the dog's needs weren't considered by owners who didn't find enough out before they got them. Maybe this noisy dog is just 'on holiday being cared for though and missing it's owner!'

OH didn't get seen early this time. I went and parked at Morrisons to wait for him so pottered to their cafe. How it's changed in there with the exits from the tills all fenced off so people can only exit from them, just like we saw Sainsbury's had done when we last went. There must be so much stealing going on now. Is it like that at your supermarkets? It means much more walking for me though. The cafe had two drink machines that had broken down, so just a hot water dispenser and teabags and coffee jars. The hot water dispenser wasn't dispensing and I pressed other buttons and one appeared to switch the power on. Then I had to wait ages while it hotted up. I went and sat in the car then under a shady tree and read the newspaper I bought. The hospital have agreed to take OH's tooth and bridge out and just want a note from his dentist detailing any other work if it needs doing and they will do it all which will save the cost of his private dentist.

OH has a council meeting 15 miles away later and might carry on to a match near there if it finishes early as he says it will save fuel being nearby.

Have a lovely day and tell us all about it tonight.

Still 19 degrees here and the pc says rain is coming, sorry you lot in hot places.

Well I just had a phone call from Asda to say my order won't be here until 3.30pm instead of the alotted time of 12.30pm. I wonder if he has broken down or had an accident? I have two subs which will both be going back, they did'nt have my Corsydil daily mouthwash or my meal for one Lamb and colcanon so they have sent sausage and mash and I am not paying £3.25 for two horrid sauages and mash. I have never ordered that so why can't they send something I have ordered in the past?

Thats lovely your daughters raising money for Cancer Reserch. My mum died of Cancer and my best friend very young so I am with you there.

:-D <3 Happy Birthday AnnG <3 :-D. I hope you have a lovely day.

It’s wall to wall sunshine again. At the moment it’s about 21 degrees but is creeping up all the time. It should be a bit cooler than yesterday but still get to at least 28 with a chance it might reach 30. Yesterday became unbearable and, like Mandy said, it was such a hot night.

I did most of the washing yesterday but I still had some bedding to do so that was in the machine as soon as I got up and on the line by 8 am. I’ll bring it in again in a minute. I’ve done a couple more jobs that had to be done and that’s me finished for the day. It’s too hot to do anything else but I’m not very good at just lounging about doing nothing.

I hope your OH’s appointment goes well Annx.

Happy Birthday, Ann !

Enjoy your day.

Noise always seems louder in the night hours, doesn't it?

Some dogs are left to their own devices or have not had enough walks / activity to settle them. Unfair on them, if they are anxious and it's troublesome if you live nearby and they are left to bark. Our :-|
There are dogs around here, but we seldom hear them
Our noise comes from seagulls, who wake early and seem to want all the world to know that they are claiming 'their' space on the rooftops. Once one starts about 4 a.m others join in :-| :-0. It is easing off a bit, now that the chicks have been raised and the mornings are darker later, but they are a daily presence.

Mel, daughter will be raising funds for Cancer Research, in memory of her dad and also a dear school friend, who died as a young mum of a 3 years old son, almost 12 years ago.
By chance, the walk will be on the weekend of the friend's anniversary <3

Feels hot and humid here, although it says 19 degrees and mostly cloudy.
After yesterday, any drop in temperature is welcome.
