Gwyn I think Colin will notice the difference once he gets the new aids and I certainly will if it means I don't have to keep repeating my words .
The poppies will be on the pill box near the railway station crossing which is not far from us about a ten minute walk away so I'm hoping to get a few photos once its all covered ,well that's if she gets enough poppies to cover it ,last year they had nets with poppies flowing out of the windows if that's what you call the narrow slits in the pill box so hopefully they will be used again to help cover it .

Anng I hope you have a better night's sleep tonight I should think you'll be really tired .

Do you have to go and have the dressing changed Ann?

I have sent the first pics of my baby swallows and my first tom which I had on Sunday with my breakfast.

No pain but it aggravates because I can feel it and almost see it.

I was actually not advised to not bend my head down it just seemed the best to do. I was advised on how to look after the scar from the taking of skin for the graft. I was just told not to remove the dressing, but I know there is a skin graft and stitched under it. I know if it has not worked how it should he will take skin from by my hear to do a further graft. It is never going to be ‘pretty’ any more but that is fine there are plenty worse off. I do know, reading all about the surgeon on google I am probably getting the best chance there is.

I have just googled the type of dressing I have on my nose, I think it said sometimes called mustache, it is apparently used in rhinoplasty. Looks weird. Not like a normal dressing at all.

I hope you have a better night's sleep and rest tonight, AnnG. but it's good that there is little discomfort.
When a relative had an operation and couldn't bend over, he got someone to lift things onto the work tops for him. It went against the grain to have things out and about rather than tidily tucked away in cupboards, but it wasn't for long and meant that he could heal better and gradually manage for himself again.
I hope your surgeon is pleased with your progress, when you go back to see him.
May be he will advise on particular after-care of your operation site.
After my facial op. I followed the advice I was given, - very gentle care at first, then eventually massaging the area with Vaseline once the surgeon felt that the top layers of skin had healed sufficiently and now the once massive scars are hardly visible. Each case is different, but it would be good if they give you some guidance.
I never go out, even in winter months without moisturising sun screen protection- just a high factor one I buy in Boots.
Perhaps they will think that would be right for you too.

Mandy, I bet Colin notices a big difference once his ears have been cleared.
I can turn the volume switch down a few notchs when I have been ;-)
I feel lucky that I am treated regularly at our main hospital. It's a bit of a trek, but is so quick and really helpful. With all the cut-backs, I do sometimes wonder if they will decide that they can't continue this service, but so far, so good. They set up the appointments every 3 months and within about a week of me attending the nurse's clinic, the next appontment letter arrives in the post, so no chasing them up :-D

You are doing so well with the poppies. Well done.
Will they be displayed near where you live?

I have been trying to concentrate on not putting my head down. But do you know how many times you do that is a day without thinking. And being on my own sometimes I just can't avoid it.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 20 Aug 2024 13:54

Anng thats good you don't have any soreness I'd just be careful if you put your head down as the blood rushing might start off some pain .

Colin got on ok nothing in one ear but lot's in the other so now he has a hearing test on holiday Monday at 2 o'clock and will have new hearing aids as he's had the others for seven years and she said hearing aids have changed since he's had these last ones ,it was 60 pound for the wax removal.
We did a bit of shopping before his appointment got a dressed crab from the fish stall, sausages from jakes butchers and after the appointment we called and got a F&C we haven't had them since before Christmas so they went down a treat.
Lots of black clouds about now so I'm hoping for a little rain so I don't have to water tonight .

I have been on the phone for an hour and ten minuets this morning tryin gto cancel my EE phone I changed to 2 weeks ago. They kept asking me for the account number which I did'nt have so she said I would have to wait till the first bill arrived with the number on it. After I came off the phone I wlaked round to feed the chcikens and the postman came and blow me down the bill was in the post so then I had to get onto bt again and sort it all out and go through everything again and get codes sent to me by email. Another long phone call and in the end it was sorted and the 24 month contract is now £20 cheeper than I was paying so thats one good thing. I had no idea how to open my phone or even get it out of its case. I was in tears after the first conversation and all het up. One person told me I would have to send the new sim card back but the last person I spoke to told me to destroy and throw it away so thats what I am going to do. The bill they sent was for £9.10 and I did'nt even have to pay that.

Then the shopping arrived and I had to put all that away.

I am now going to get something to eat before I fade away.

Vera, although frustrating for you, your ups and downs with 'things' this week do make for intereesting/amusing reading. Have you got a cupboard in the kitchen labelled 'extra groceries for use of ***** club? will they reimburse you?

annx your OH is working well in the garden isn't he, soon be nothing left to do.
I have ready meals for my meals this week so not really much cooking.

I rarely sleep in the day, might sometimes just close my eyes to rest them but don't actually sleep.
Yes my old glasses are fine for reading. actually they are the pair before the pair before my current glasses so could be 4 years+ old. I do sometimes have new glasses when I don't need them.
Mandy hope Colin's appointment went ok.

Annx Report 20 Aug 2024 12:32

Afternoon All,

I suppose your face feeling different and being higher with the extra pillow wouldn't help with sleeping AnnG, but it's good that you haven't any soreness at either site. Just grab a bit of sleep when you can the next few days and don't be tempted to try and do much. Just potter about regularly. How are your old glasses for reading?

OH was up earlier than me and has cleared the weeds and brambles from nextdoor behind the shed and greenhouse. He's also emptied some plant pots of things that haven't survived. He finished just as I was about to pop out to the shop and when it started lashing down with rain. so good timing for him but not for me!

Better get some lunch now, something quick and easy!

SuffolkVera Report 20 Aug 2024 12:30

It's now 22 degrees but very grey and cloudy. I have warmed up a bit now. It was too cloudy to see the super blue moon last night though I looked out several times as I didn't sleep well.

Mandy I hope Colin gets on alright when he has the wax removed and a hearing test. It's a shame the GP surgery doesn't do wax removal anymore. The last time I had mine done it cost me £80. You are doing really well with your poppies. The lady collecting them will be delighted when you give her 100. You deserve an award

How amazing to have Forsythia flowering Gwyn. The seasons seem all upside down these days.

I hope your stockings do the job Annx. At least they aren't quite as tight as you feared. Your OH is doing well with all the weeding. We don't need to do too much in the summer as our garden is so overstuffed that any weeds are either smothered by the big plants or aren't visible anyway. It sounds as though lily of the valley have had a field day in your garden. I've often wondered about getting some as they were my Mum's favourite flowers but I don't want them spreading like that.

Our week continues to get messed up. First it was all the hassle of getting my meds sorted, then Tesco not delivering till 9 pm. Yesterday our car should have been collected at 8.30 am and taken to the Volvo centre 15 miles away for its annual service. At 8.00 OH got an email to say they had a driver off sick and wouldn't be collecting till this morning. They have done that but didn't turn up till 11 am. We had an electrician coming around lunchtime to fix an outside light. I planned to do ironing and some other jobs before he needed the power off. He turned up at 9.15. He has sorted the light and OH asked him to give us a price for another job that needs doing. He named his price which OH agreed and he decided he might as well get it done while he is here. So I still have no power downstairs. I'm also a bit concerned as I can hear a lot of hammering and drilling going on. I hope I'm not going to go downstairs and find half the kitchen needs replastering. At the moment I'm keeping well out of the way upstairs.

We had a Club meeting last night and had a very good talk on John Constable. It was given by one of the tour guides at Flatford Mill and was more about his life than his paintings. She was very good and had some lovely slides. She spoke for an hour without any notes and she was very clear and easy to understand. We also had nearly a full house. There were only a couple of members who didn't make it. I won a pack of 8 boxes of Whittards fancy teas in the raffle - green tea, white tea, fruity and floral teas. They will be going the way of my daughter who will probably like them as OH and I only really enjoy "builder's tea", though in someone else's house I will be polite and drink what I am given. They all got "builder's tea" last night as OH and I were just putting our shoes on to walk down to the meeting (only 2 minutes from us) when there was a ring at the doorbell. One of the members had come running up to ask if they could have some teabags. Whoever did the teas last month had used the last of them and not thought to tell a committee member so they could be replaced. It's handy for us being close to the venue for lots of things we attend but it does mean we're the go-to people when there is a problem. Someone forgets to bring the milk, run up to Vera, there's a big event on and the car park's full, park at Vera's; we don't really mind.

I wonder if the electrician will stop for lunch. OH made him tea this morning but we can't really do anything else until I have some power in the kitchen. I hope all you ladies are having a better day and I hope AnnG is managing to get some rest. Enjoy the rest of the day

16 here and pc says partly sunny but the suns out at the mo.

All ready for the shopping to arrive whenever he ghets here. Just cooling off after my shower.

The grounds very wett out so we must have had quite a bit of rain in the night. The patio was wet one third of the way across and I had left the white wash out over night but this morning it was just as wet as when I put it out.

Good morning all

I’m sorry you had such a rough night AnnG. Do as Mel says and just rest and sleep for the next day or two. All the normal jobs can wait. Sending lots of good vibes your way <3

Apparently it’s 19 degrees but feeling 22, yet I feel chilly. My body temperature never seems to agree with what the weather people say.

In a bit of a rush this morning so must get on. BBL.

Thanks all. I just caught sight of myself in the mirror and remarked (to myself out loud) It only wants to be painted red and I would be fine for red nose day. Or a clown!! I am going to have to sleep with an extre pillow tonight in case of my nose bleeding if my head is low. :-(
