Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Sep 2024 08:43

Morning girls,

When I woke at 7am it was quite bright so I thought I would lay there for a while. After dozing for a bit I opened my eyes to see grey skies once again. Same temp as you Ann 15degrees and pc says fog.

Anng the nail guns only work with a compressor and thats still there as its huge and under a table. Its not something I would use. Oh bought them when he made my chickens house.

AnninGlos Report 7 Sep 2024 06:43

Good morning all early so still quite darkish outside. Temp is 15 degrees so not cold. I didn't dare go back to sleep when I woke at just gone 6 as Cynth is taking me to get my prescription this morning. Probably go for coffee after. Then Tesco this afternoon.

Can't do it today but next week have to make another appointment for a blood test as I had a message saying my recent test was borderline. Daughter rightly says 'borderline what?' I guess that is to scare me into making the 2nd appointment. It could be borderline pre-diabetic or borderline diabetic. Well the test could not have come at a worst time. after 2 weeks away and several meals out then the op and 2 weeks of ready meals and not cooking fresh meals. And now it is going to have to be not until I get back from son's.

Mel, that is annoying. Is anything else missing? Are you sure you have not loaned the nail guns to anyone? When did you last see/use them? Maybe fixing something away from the house where you may have left them? How likely is it that somebody would be down there in the dark at night? Would you be aware if they got in there in the day? Hopefully bil can help you find a way of locking it.

did we hear from Annx yesterday?

You sound like your having a great time Vera al those places to visit. I too would have been in the Monet room with Anng.

BIL arrived today but did'nt do anything as it has rained heavily all day. I got soaked doing the chickens and getting the empty bins out of the garage to wash them. BIL is coming tomorrow and is going to put the two sacks in them for me. I have enough of the pellets left in my bucket for the morning.

Sold a couple more bits on Ebay today so I have those to parcel up.

Looked in the garage for the nail guns and could'nt find them so they have been filched I think and I don't like the idea of it happening while Iwas in bed. Trouble is I sleep so soundly and with the double glazing I would'nt hear it anything anyway. Also the staples and boxes of nails for them are down to two boxes instead of 5 or 6.

BIL says to get a paadlock to put on the door trouble is one of the doors has dropped a bit soit dos'nt close properly to get the bolt across. May get a change lock to put across the door handles.

SuffolkVera Report 6 Sep 2024 20:53

Good evening all

I’ll have another go at posting but I am very tired so it will be an abridged version.

We had a smooth journey till we got to Vienna airport when we failed to find our prebooked taxi. Phone call to our hotel and a call back from them and it turned out our driver had picked up another couple with the same name as us and on the same flight. How’s that for a coincidence? Hotel said to get a taxi from the rank outside and the cost would be deducted from our bill.

Wednesday and yesterday were very hot. We did a fair bit of walking around trying to stay in the shade and go inside cool buildings. Yesterday we went into the cathedral here and also into a museum/gallery. That had several floors dedicated to one artist or one period. The rooms were light and airy and well set out. We went in the basement first where there was a collection by an American artist, Robert Longo. Annx, I think you would have loved it. He uses charcoal and his works are mostly huge. They are also powerful and meaningful. We were both absolutely blown away by the collection.

We also looked at another floor showing art from Monet to Picasso. That floor was quite crowded, I suppose because the artists are well known. I couldn’t believe one Chinese man. He took a photo of every picture and another one of the text that went with it but I don’t think he actually looked at a single painting.

Today was a little cooler with a breeze so more pleasant and we used the Hop-On, Hop-Off buses of which there are a variety. We got off at a couple of stops. One was a park. Apart from the usual grassy areas, lake, flowers and trees etc it was full of statues of Austrian composers and artists etc and a pretty cafe where we sat under a canopy and had a toasted sandwich. We stayed there about 3 hours or more.

We also stopped at the Votive Church. This was quite stunning but I shall have to google it as there was very little in the way of information about it

We are an hour ahead of you and I am struggling to stay awake after a day in the fresh air so I’m going to wish you all goodnight. I hope you have all had a good pain and stress free day.

It's been a really hot day and we sat outside to have our meal tonight as it had cooled down a bit by then ,I watered all the pots and greenhouse, picked three cues and a dish of toms which I'll take to sons in the morning .
I must remember to take a chicken out of the freezer tomorrow for Sunday, thought we'd have a nice roast this week as its going to be a bit cooler and showery .

Glad your leg is ok today Anng and your feeling better Mel, just done a bit in the garden filled two tubs and came in for our tablets, it's really hot out there today.

While I think of it I see a new lot of All Creatures Great and Small is back on channel 5 19th Sept 9 o'clock.
And I read there's to be a new lot of Yorkshire farm with Clive and Amanda doing up the old listed farm house next door that's on More 4 but no date as yet ,they have been filming the last few months .

It is ok today Mandy, you are lucky to have sun. It is like a dark November day here, although warmer. very drizzly damp, almost a fog, really horricle and depressing.

Morning all,

Nice sunny morning here and should get to high twenties.

Oh no Vera so annoying losing a post ,hope your having a lovely holiday and coping OK with the heat.

Ann I like using the slow cooker now ,mine sat in the cupboard for quite a while before I started using it ,I use it more in the winter as we do like our salad through the summer .
Yes sil did a good lot of lace for the veil as it had a long train ,she also makes wedding cakes and made son and dil's cake ,it had all flowers on it that she made ,she doesn't make them now as she said it was very stressful.

Mel I hope your feeling a bit better this morning ,its so frustrating trying to sort things out over the phone and does make you feel down in the dumps ,irs good you have Em to chat to , how did her son get on at his new school .

Anng that was good your leg was OK yesterday after the walk ,how is it today.

Annx Report 5 Sep 2024 21:28

Evening All,

It was that fine, misty rain here again this morning as I set off for the hairdresser, but it had cleared up by the time I was done. I'm glad you liked the photo of me! I look abit different with shorter hair with different shades of darker streaks in the top now. I was surprised they have taken the glass screens downs that seperated customers using the wash basins since I last went, so I hope covid doesn't increase much more or they might be needed again. Despite having the code and putting it in several times, the barrier wouldn't lift for me to leave the carpark, so I sat there ages with hazard warning lights on before they noticed from the desk for the gym and lifted it for me. I'd sorted the slow cooker with skinless chicken thighs, onions, mushrooms, a bought mix of veg, and peas and sweetcorn covered with a bought honey and mustard sauce and a little water before I went, so it was cooked ready for a late lunch and very tasty. What a boon they are and I wish I'd bought one years ago!

That's good you sold your Tudor Man Mel. I can't remember whether you made him a Tudor Lady. It's good to have a little spend up isn't it, cheers us up! I've had a bunch of scam emails this week too and have been busy reporting them all today and then deleting them, then emptying my recycle bin. It all takes time you could be doing other things though.

I fhave found everything is a battle for a long time Mel, as it has usually been me that's sorts the admin out. This week though we have both been unable to access the website for Asdamobile we are both with for our phones. OH needed to update something and ended up having to phone them to sort out what should have been simple and it looks like I will have to do the same in future. I tried ringing to arrange for an engineer to come and replace our lock on the new front door as it still sticks and we will end up locked out one of these days. They said it just needed oiling last time they came, but it's still as bad. I rang them on Friday afternoon and held on for ages, but I reckon they were working from home and had gone out! I'm trying again in the morning.

Yes, I saw they had arrested the 14 year old boy and he was in court today Mandy. I's hard to comprehend a child being capable of doing such a shocking thing like you say as well AnnG. I remember reading something about a young man that had committed an awful murder once, but when I then read what an absolutely cruel and horrendous childhood he'd suffered I ended up feeling sorry for him too. No doubt there will be more reports about the case.

It was a pity you didn't get chance o see the poppy lady's face when she saw all your hard work and all the poppies you managed to make for her Mandy. I bet it was a picture! It sounds like an interesting little craft group. Your SIL did well to make a lace edging for a wedding veil. I don't think I could do it, as the thread is fine and my eyes aren't good enough! I made some crocheted mats a long time ago and that seemed quite difficult to follow with the thin thread. Those Kongs are really good for keeping a dog happy for a while aren't they. I bet Max loves them! :-) I like the sound of your pizzas too and might give them a try!

AnnG you do well with your walking and even a mile sounds good to me and it's good that they had recovered today. I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

I see that now and I had refreshed the page and then posted and saw the posts!!

Just got in from Em's next door I went and had a cuppa with her as I was feeling a bit down after fighting with the water board again. They kept saying my bill was ready but would'nt accept my log in details so another long phone call and there was'nt a bill for me yet after all. I seem to have spent most of this week on the phone trying to get certain things sorted out.

Anng they were the mini tortillas from tesco 8 in a pack I used 2 and put the other 6 in the freezer 2 in a bag so I can just take out 2 .
You add barbecue sauce onto the tortilla i used about 2 dessert spoons spread over but you could use some of your tom sauce you made or just tom ketchup then I put just a little grated cheese sliced then red onion, sliced red peppers and then a little more cheese on the top into the air fryer on 200 for about six or seven minutes just need to keep an eye on it depending on how you've sliced your bits on it ,we thought they were nice and you can add anything on but if you add any meat it has to be cooked meat like ham or any chicken you have left over .
