Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Sep 2024 09:02

Morning girls,

Sorry to hear you are both feeling unwell today and hope you both feel better later on. I'll try and send you some of my sunshine to make you feel better.

Pc is telling me rain starting in an hour and a half so I better make the most of this sunshine while it lasts. Its 14 degrees.

Stu and his girlfriend both had a bug so I won't be going there for dinner this week will see how they are next week and arrange something then.

Oh dear Vera, I didn;t have a good night either. I couldn't sleep and ended with pains across my tummy which actually I couldn't work out whether were internal or muscular. I knew I had a bad back yesterday afternoon and that was from too much walking around shops carrying shopping. I wonder if it was connected. I also needed to get up for a wee visit more times than usual and I could onlly blame the meal I had which was prawns with salad (including quite a lot of lettuce and cucumber (which I believe is diuretic) and salsa.

Now I feel sluggish because I slept until 8 o'clock and I have the tumble drier man coming later, so best get on.

Hope you pick up some energy during the day Vera so you can go wherever you want to go.

Good morning

It’s wet, wet, wet. I slept well but have woken up feeling as though I haven’t slept at all. I’m not sure I’m going to get to the local theatre tonight or a friend’s birthday lunch tomorrow. If I don’t I’ll feel guilty as OH won’t go without me. Don’t let my miserable mood infect you. I hope you all have a good day and feel well and happy.

I’ll be back tomorrow.

The wall that was knocked down is only two bricks high and is round the side of the lawn on the left as you go up the drive. It is suppose to hold the grass up but they were old bricks to start with from the melon house up in oh's garden before he sold it.

Mandy it was the delivery man and his van that first hit the wall not far from where the tanker hit it today so now all the bricks are loose along that stretch on the bend.

Evening all,
It's been a much cooler day but I did manage to get all the garden lights put away ,just finished as the first spot of rain came down but it was much and the day has been mostly dry.

Vera thats good you now have a few extra exercises to do so hope they help you and having the heat on your muscles too , I never know if its heat the muscles need or cold ,I suppose it depends on the muscle.
A nice surprise to come home to the cake from your neighbour, I made a cake today ,a nice coffee and walnut cake .
I made cakes for the family last week a carrot and orange cake with cream cheese frosting and a Mars bar cake .

Anng thats not to long before your appointment and I hope they say that all is well and you don't need more surgery.

Mel didn't the oil tanker catch your wall before or was it someone else , sounds as if your well filled with the oil now all ready for the winter .
We got some wood in today ready for a nice fire as the weekend should be colder .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Sep 2024 18:59

Poor you Anng you don't need anymore worry and fretting after what you've been through. I hope its ok when you go and see him.

Well I did'nt get the hoovering of the hall done but did do the little loo and the part outside the kitchen door. I may go and do that now but first I must corn the chickens. The rain did'nt last long so I left the washing out for a bit of a blow as there is a wind.

Back to the physio: he asked a lot of questions, then prodded and poked to determine where exactly the pain was coming from. He confirmed that it was a muscle problem (which I already knew) and gave me 3 new exercises to do which we tried out together. One really pulls at the muscle.. I do these sitting in a chair whereas the others are standing or lying on the floor. The chair ones are less uncomfortable but I forgot to ask him if I do them instead of the others or in addition to the others. I think I’ll just use a bit of common sense and maybe do his chair ones first and then any others that I can manage. He said I should carry on taking the painkillers I have for migraine and use some form of heat for short spells. He also said he thinks it will be about 6 weeks before it’s better. As I say he was a lovely man but I did struggle to understand him. He had such a thick accent but I think I got the gist of what he was telling me.

As I am using more painkillers than usual OH drove back via the pharmacy that deals with my repeat prescription so I could order some more. Everything else I have comes automatically every month but I take the painkillers as and when needed so reorder myself when I’m getting low, a box of 100 normally lasts me about 6 months. Well I got the doofiest girl in town. She couldn’t accept that I only needed to order one thing on my prescription. After lots of argy bargy she tapped away at the computer and then assured me she had sorted the order. I’ll collect it on 7th or 8th October and it will be interesting to see if I get everything, nothing or some of the items on the script. Watch this space.

I was a bit fed up by the time we got back. As we drove up I could see a plastic bag hanging on our door handle. It held a foil container with 2 large slices of cranberry and orange drizzle cake left by our cooking neighbour. Wasn’t that nice? We had it at lunch time and it was very tasty. Since then I’ve done some ironing and now I’m back on the bed with my pillows and a wheat bag.

I went to town on the 0950 bus and got hone just before two. And it stayed dry and the sun shone some of the time and the town was really busy, lots of teenagers around, probably early days at the college.

While I was having coffee in town (chiropodist), I had a text message to my NHS app It was to tell me I have an appointment with Mr O on Monday 30 September at 12 o'clock.
Subsequently I have had an e mail, a phone call gone to voice mail on my mobile a phone call on the answer machine (main phone) and a promise of a letter in the post. Do you think they are trying to tell me something? The one on answer phone asked me to phone with confirmation I had got the call (phone???) I did actually try but after nobody answering I rang off (over 5 minutes waiting) and I have emailed Nathan to confirm.

So something to look forward to and fret over again now. At least it is at a civilised time.

sounds like a good physio Vera did he do anything about exercises?

Is the wall a high wall Mel or just a very low one. I suppose if you complain they will stop delivering to you.

Rain stopped sun came pout I did a wash and as soon as I had pegged it out it rained again.

Hoovered kitchen and diner and a bit inside the door of the lounge. The halls next and then the bedrooms.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 25 Sep 2024 13:00

That is annoying Mel. Will you ask the company to replace the brick? Is it an old wall? It might be difficult to get something to match if it is.

I hope it stayed dry for your trip to the chiropodist AnnG. It rained here for a couple of hours this morning. There are only a few parking places at our doctors main surgery and, of course, it was choc-a-bloc so OH dropped me at the door and went off to find somewhere to park. He thought he would have to go to the main town one and trek back in the rain but there is a tiny car park across the road from the doctors which is usually full so he tried there first. He was lucky; there was just one space left and it was very tight with a car one side and a wall the other. I wouldn’t have attempted it but he backed in OK. Good job he is thin as he could only open his door a little way.

The physio was very good. He was called a First Contact Physiotherapist which apparently means he has enhanced skills and can diagnose, treat or refer you to specialists etc..

OH has just told me lunch is ready so I’ll post this in case I lose it and will continue later.

I was just backing up to go out to the post van when the oil lorry came through the arch. That was a bit of luck and in plenty of time for me to get to the van by the time he had put the oil in the tank. He said I was about a pant pot from the top. I went out before hi so he could turn to get out. When I came back he has knocked a brick out of the wall at the edge of the lawn and smashed it to bits.

Morning girls,

Its 11 degrees here and pc says rain but its quite bright at the moment and there is blue sky out therebut lots of clouds too.

Don't know if I am going to STu's tonight or tomorrow if at all as he is very busy at the moment.

I feel all itchy this morning so I think I better get in the shower to start the day and get down the post van with this l;ittle parcel.

Sorry you had a bad night Vera and hope the physio goes ok and you don't come home feeling more achey than you went there.

AnninGlos Report 25 Sep 2024 08:36

Good morning 8 degrees here and so cold that my heating which is set at about 16 has turned on.

bright so far so hopefully it stays like that as I have to go to town for the chiropodist.
Slept well last night but woke at around 5.15 and couldn't then get back to sleep. It was very cold then when I got up for the loo.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 25 Sep 2024 08:23

Good morning

Grey, damp and chilly today. OH wants to put the heating on but I’m trying to hang on for another week or two as once it goes on it stays on till around May. Also as soon as it goes on our fuel bills go shooting up.

It’s good that your blood test was done quickly AnnG, much better than hanging around waiting, particularly as there have been Covid cases there.

I’ve been sleeping a bit better recently but I had a bad night last night so feel a bit droopy today. I’m going to have a quick shower now as I’m off to see the physio at the surgery at 9.30. Have a good day everyone.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Sep 2024 21:48

Wow that was very quick then and I bet your glad it was over quickly. Did Cynth bring you home?

I have put some more things on Ebay but it takes me so long to get things right. I did one listing and when I went to list it it said I had forgotten something!! I had filled in all the details and postage etc but not put the pictures on it. Doh stupid women...........

Hope you all sleep well tonight without any strange dreams and enough rest to keep you all going. :-D

Yes the graft has taken, it doesn't cause me any problems but it is noticeable. I have to wait until the surgeon sees it, goodness knows when that appointment will be.

blood test went OK, if I had blinked I might have missed it. I checked in on the auto check in and it said I was recognised so I started to walk to the nurses waiting room when Zoe the nurse came very fast down the corridor calling my name. Had barely enough time to answer questions re birth date and sit in the chair, pull my sleeve up and it was done and she was rushing off as she was needed down the corridor (senior nurse) I was early so was out before my appointment time. I wore a mask as I was told to and took it off when I realised that nobody else had one on not even the nurses. (no wonder half of them were off with covid the week before last. Just hope that she got it right.

I lost the will to post this morning after losing that post and I can't even remember what I said in it now.

Shopping came with Carl the happy chappy I always likeso that was good.

I have done a bit of filing on the pc of the things I sold on Ebay. I have to do that and take a pic of what it sold for cos I can't remember when I have another of the same to put on. I like to be able to look back and see what sells.

I painted a devon mottoware jug the day before yesterday and it all varnished now so I want to put that on Ebay and see how its going to be accepted at a high price and then I may put some more of that on there.

Hope the physio helps with your back Vera and you were lucky to get that appointment so quickly. Lets hope things improve for you.

Hope the blood test goes ok Ann. You hav'nt mentioned your nose lately has it all healed now? and has the graft taken ok.

Yes it has been a good year here too for tomatoes although some are tending to stay green at the moment. Still quite a few on the plants. One I have been pleased with is the sun gold, not a big tomato but very sweet to eat. And quite prolific.

Yes it is the frustrations that get to you I find, maybe we expect too much of ourselves, being determined not to sink into 'old age' like maybe our ancestors did. My last Grandma died when she was 79, I really can't imagine her out digging the garden. Last week at son's was lovely but I was frustrated at not doing anything. I couldn't get out into the garden because the lawn which covers a lot of it with no paths is so long. I like reading but four complete books in a week is a bit much even for me.

I hope the physio can get you sorted with advice. As you say lucky to get the appointment.
