Morning All,
Quite bright again this morning and pc says cloudy and 4 degrees. The sun is trying to shine so let hope it makes it and we have another lovely sunny day like yesterday.

I redid the scarecrows in next doors cottage. They have one of mine in there and their one from when we had a competition years ago. For fun I put mine over there some years ago sitting on a chair under one of their trees. Soon a mate appeared and they have been together ever since. My poor old Greenthumb had a grey curly beard and hair but over the years it has started to rot and shed all over his new jumper. I put jumper and trousers on both of them and a bobble hat on mine as his straw hat only had the band left round his head. I must get a pic of them.

When the visitors stay inthe cottage they think someone is in the garden.

Lovely news Vera :-D you'll be looking at all the little pink things in the shops

Clouded over a bit now and with the bit of wind its quite chilly .

It’s a lovely day so far though I can see a bit of a breeze getting up now. I surprised myself by working in the garden for well over an hour. OH was outside about the same length of time so between us we got quite a bit down. I was careful and used a proper stool-cum-kneeler and stood up about every 10 minutes and stretched my back and so far, so good.

We think we’ve lost 24 low growing hebes that edge a semicircle round a bird bath but OH dug one up and saw a tiny green shoot coming up so we’re going to leave them for a while longer and see what happens.

Just had a text from grandson and I now know our first great grandchild, due in August, will be a little girl :-D.

Morning all,

Nice sunny morning and not so chilly out ,I nipped to town as its market day and got a nice dressed crab off the fish stall ,we'll have that in a sandwich at lunch time ,I thought they might have gone up in price but they were 5 pound the same as last year.

Did you just push the garage door too and the wind blew it open Mel, hope that's what it was .

Anng enjoy your bit of sea air .

Vera if you only do half an hour now and again on the garden hen it's better for your back rather then pushing on and then suffering with your back for a few days , it's surprising how it soon begins to come together .

Just done a bit of weeding and now stopped for a coffee.

You probably forgot and left it open Mel as you were tired when you went in last night. Hope it is ok anyway.

Good morning all six degrees here but brilliant blue sky and sunny. Going to Maryport for coffee and to look at the sea in a minute, then into town for a couple of bits. Have a good day all.

Morning Vera and all,

Bright sunny morning here today and pc says 7 degrees and FOG.

BIL may come again today and we can start sorting some of the stuff inthe garage.

I was so tired last night but did'nt go to bed ]earlier so did' nt wake till just after nine.

Am having a coffee and the washing machine is on so I better get washed incase he turns up. I bet he goes over Exmoor first to do a bit of photography. His camera goes everywhere with him.

I thought he was here as the garage door is open. I just hope it was me who left it open and I have'nt had a visitor.

Good morning all

It’s not very warm yet but looks bright out. Forecast is for sunny spells and no rain today.

Glad you are getting the mowers sorted Mel but they’re costing you a lot of money. I suppose they are necessary as you have such a lot of land to keep tidy.

I hope the weather is kind to you while you are at your daughter’s AnnG.

I had a “droopy” day yesterday when I couldn’t seem to get on with anything. We did meet friends for a coffee at our nearest garden centre. We were going to meet at a place in town but the road we would both use to get there is now closed for nearly 3 weeks and you have to drive in a big loop around the town to get to the main car park. It was also market day and raining. Apparently the centre of town was gridlocked.

I don’t have any plans for the day. I might do a bit in the garden. I get frustrated as my back won’t let me garden for more than about 30 minutes. Even our tiny garden takes a lot of maintenance and I miss being out there for several hours at a time. Oh well, I suppose we’re all the same as we get older.

I’ve been up since 7 am so it’s high time I got dressed and had some breakfast. Have a good day everyone

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Apr 2023 16:56

I have just come in from the garden after walking up the top to pick all the fallen small branches and twig off the grass outside the wall so BIL can cut it. We are still having trouble stating the old mower and now he thinks the solinoyde has gone. Back is hurting now so I came back down.

I did find a twig up there with a bright orange fungi on it. Its only tiny but the colour is almost blinding. I took a couple of pics but the camera never seems to pick up on the right tone of colour. I tried it in the shade and in the sun and it was better in the shade asthe sunny spot seemed to make it look yellow. Its not as big as my little finger nail but so beautiful and on one side it is almost like a little rose in shape.

No can't sell one as they do different jobs. The old one dos'nt pick the grass cuttings up but will pull the biggish trailer and the newer one cuts outside the bungalow lawns and puts the stipes in it and also picks up cuttings left by the other mower plus it has a thing to scarify the lawn too.

Glad you're at daughters now even though you had a wet trip you all got back there safely. No have a nice relax and enjoy your stay.

AnninGlos Report 6 Apr 2023 08:18

Good morning all. Looks quite bright so hopefully it will stay dry. Had a good run up to daughters but a wet one. Traffic was heavy, I suppose it was Easter get away traffic. Anyway all here and I was soon unpacked and settled in.

Vera that was a bit unfair. Somebody should have a go at whoever has decided that you are so willing that you can be volunteered whenever needed. I bet that person didn’t help with the washing up. I remember you saying October as well.

Mandy I am sure my surgery automatically put something on my arm after blood rests.

Wow Mel that is a huge bill. I am sure if you had had any idea how much before you would have had one mower done at a time. Do you actually need two or could you sell one when fixed?

nd wet out there this mroning pc says 8 degrees and cloudy no change there from yesterday then.

Its done it again.

Morning all,

grey and wet out there this morning and the pc says 8 degrees and cloudy no change from yesterday then.

BIL has been this mroning to pick up the bit for the newer mower so I expect he will go to the mower place first thing.

Just having a coffee and must get up the post van again this morning to post a little parcel.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Apr 2023 22:51

Vera I seem to remember you saying in a post that you did'nt have to do the teas now till October.

Dear old BIL has landed me with a bill for the mowers of perhaps over £500. They rang me and told me they could'nt get the brushes to work or the deck to mow. We had a tiny loop of wire we put in the back somewhere and its still on the windowsill. In actual fact I think I sent it when the mowers were collected but I bet they lost it with it being so small. BIL is coming to pick it up early in the morning so I have to leave it outside for him incase I am not up.

We've only had a few gleams of sun today. It's been a nothing sort of day - greyish, dryish, a bit chilly. The computer is now telling me that it's raining but will stop soon. It must be very dry rain as there isn't a speck of wet anywhere.

I didn't get to do anything in the garden but this morning I hoovered and dusted all upstairs and then showered and washed my hair. This afternoon Mr Tesco came with 3 weeks' worth of shopping. There was nothing missing but there were 3 subs. I had mange tout instead of sugar snap peas, very large eggs instead of large and the best one of the lot was some lamb. When I did the order I noticed they had half shoulders of lamb, normally £10.20, reduced by half so I ordered one. There were none left so they sent me a whole shoulder priced at £19.98 but I only had to pay the £5.10 I would have paid for the reduced half shoulder. Can't complain about that :-)

Then it was a bit of filing and banking and general household admin. Now it's nearly time to cook dinner, though it is just a ready meal tonight so I only have to take it out of the fridge and shove it in the oven.

We had a Ladies Club meeting last night. At the AGM I am sure I put my name down to do teas in October with 2 other ladies M & J. When I got there one of the committee greeted me with "You're a little bit late as you're doing teas". I pointed out I was doing it in October and she assured me I was wrong so I thought I had misread the sheet I had signed. M was already in the kitchen getting stuff ready and she was sure she had signed up to do teas later in the year, then J arrived saying she was late as she hadn't known she was doing teas! I think someone on the committee realised they had no-one to do it last night so decided to bring us forward. Shame no-one told us! They use proper cups and saucers at this group, rather than disposables, and it is quite a big group so there was a lot of washing up. I was not pleased!

I'm not sure when you are going away AnnG or indeed if you have gone today, but I wish you a safe journey whenever it is.

Afternoon all,

I hardly dare say but we have lovely blue sky and sun ,bit chilly in the shade ,I went shopping after my blood test ,made sure she put a bit of cotton wool and tape on my arm as once when I went I ended up with blood running down my arm .

Aldi very quiet as the road works are putting people off going that way ,I did have to get in the queue of traffic though to get home .

Mel it must be very hard for you to see some of OH's things sold but I'm sure he would have hated the things standing there and rusting away ,time to pass them on to be cared for by the young chap <3

I was looking at an ad for one of our garden centres and the bedding plants are 1.75 per plant or you could have 10 for 15 pound , doesn't seem that long ago they were 75p per plant ,Another thing shot up in price .

Anng not sure if you were travelling today but safe journey if you are .

Morning Mel and all

Weather app is telling me it’s 7 degrees and bright sunshine. My view from the window is telling me it’s grey and miserable.

I managed to do a bit in the garden yesterday and was hoping to do a bit more today but I think I’ll wait and see if it brightens up a bit. Tesco are delivering this afternoon.

OH is calling me for something. Might bbl
