It is strict as daughter does it Gwyn as she doesn't want to progress to injections and she doesn't want to go back on Metformin which caused constant Diarrhoea any time she ate anything. I don't need to be as strict. Actually once I get sorted with the flour I need I can make 'biscuits' which are like scones, and other things like cheesecake. It is not a diet to lose weight because you can eat more fat but I will also have to watch the cholestrol. Lunch today was half an avocado, lettuce cucumber. ham, small stuffed peppers a small amount of cheese. It was quite filling dressed with balsamic vinegar.
so that alert alarm a bit of an anti climax I think. :-D

Afternoon all, Good to know that your booster went OK Ann and not too much of a queue. Good luck with the new diet regime. I don't think I could do that so strictly, but it's all a case of moderating our intake isn't it? When I hear of friends having eg. chips with pizza or having garlic bread with a meal, which already contains a higher calorie item, I'd rather just forgo the chips and garlic bread and just have the main items. At the moment, I am trying to lower my cholesterol levels, so have been trying to be strict with myself. I have a blood test soon, so we will see how successful I've been. I am trying to avoid medication for bringing levels down. The one thing I really miss is cheese. I have taken to buying the packets of wafer-thin slices of Cheddar and making a sandwich and getting my 'fix' that way, about once a week. This week's ration went in a roll to take on a school trip. I was asked to go out on an all-day trip to help Reception class. It was an early start, as I had to be in school for 7.45 am.as we were going by coach to Legoland. The children were so excited and were exceptionally well behaved and loved it. It was a big thing for them, to be away for so many hours, especially as some are not even 5 yet. There was a good staff : children ratio, so we all looked out for about 4 children and counted them each time we moved on to another ride or feature, although the class teacher with us had overall responsibility and frequently counted and checked them herself. The weather was kind and dry with blue skies all day. We all arrived back to school tired, but happy at about 7pm, so I expect they slept well that night. I did ;-)

Jab was fine, a very small queue which moved very quickly, very nice nurse and I hardly felt it at all. then Cynth decided we ahould go for coffee so we did, round to the garden centre and have only just got home so I am off to get some lunch now. DO NOT FORGET THE ALERT AT 3PM. Having said that I will probably now forget it.

I see nest Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday we should have the rehearsels for the coranation fly past go over our sky in Norfolk and Suffolk ,shall have to remember and keep a look out . We're watching a bit of the London marathon ,Raining there now .

Good morning all
Grey cloud and wet again. The rain isn’t constant but it stops and starts so it’s not worth doing anything outside. Not sure what I’ll do today apart from cook a piece of gammon for our dinner.
I hope your jab goes well AnnG and you don’t suffer any after effects. We’ve got ours next weekend.
Don’t forget we have this emergency alarm test at 3 pm today. It might make you jump if you’re not prepared for it. I have heard it will only go to phones running on a fairly up to date system. I don’t think OH will get it but I should so I must remember to have my phone handy. I’m usually hunting the house for it.
OH is watching the London marathon so I think I’ll make a coffee and join him for a few minutes before starting to prepare our dinner.

As I was pre-diabetic (almost) with my last blood test, I am now, before my check up in October, going to try the diet that helps to keep daughters sugar level down. I won' do it as strictly as she does but will try. she is on a no carb diet and it does work. she has an arm patch and a meter on her phone that monitor the blood sugar level. Luckily she can afford to do this as although the first two patches are free, the subsequent ones cost her £100 a month!!
Anyway for me that means no bread, biscuits, cakes, potatoes rice, pasta and a host of other things. and a list of things I can eat if I cook them myself using almond or coconut flour. It sounds draconian and she is very good at sticking to it. Her main reason was to get herself off the drug that regulates blood sugar levels but caused her constant stomach problems for years. I don't have to be as draconian as she is (she is Type 2 and has been for 10 years now). just reduce my carbs as much as possible. I will see how it goes. First step will be to go in to town this week to buy Almond flour.
And scrambled eggs with cheese for breakfast this morning, no toast.

Hope Mandy and Gwyn and Gill are ok as we hav'nt heard from them.

I have spent most of the day trying to get things on Ebay.
BIL popped in and he had replaced the deisel he brought down as he put it in my car so I owe him for that. Did'nt stay long and then I went back to Ebay and put a couple mmore things on.
Still feels cold in here but pc says 9 degrees perhaps I'll turn the heating on for a bit.

Well I got two full loads of washing done and all dried in the dryer and now in the airing cupboard.
I also got a few more of the bits put away that I couldn't do before as daughter and SiL were in that room. Still some paperwork to do, mainly finance that I couldn't do while away. I got the plants ready for potting on but was too tired to actually do it so that is a job for next week. tomorrow is my booster jab in the morning.
Daughter got home ok made good time until the last 20 miles or so when they got stuck behind a tractor doing 30mph, no dual carriageways on that stretch of the A66.
Mel many years ago my dad had his nose cauterised and it didn't cause him any problems. Hopefully you won't need that done.

Good afternoon all
It was misty here first thing but cleared by mid-morning. Then we had sunshine alternating with grey cloud. It can't seem to make up its mind what to do.
I hope the mist cleared quickly for your daughter AnnG and they had a good run home. I expect you have been busy with jobs round the house and garden today.
Mel, you may have to use the cream for your nose for several days before it takes effect. If you do have to have your nose cauterised please don't worry about it. I know at least 3 people who have had it done with no problems at all. I think Em's Dad's problems with it were probably uncommon.
Having cleaned the upstairs yesterday I thought I had better do the downstairs today. I've only given everywhere a thorough dust and hoover but I did move all the furniture that I could manage. It seemed to take me nearly all morning. While I was doing that OH just finished off cleaning the cupboards in the uti.
This afternoon he has been outside banging lumps out of a wall. I'm not sure exactly what he is doing but I think he is sorting out a security light that isn't working and was never wired properly when the house was built. I got a very grumpy response when I suggested he just got someone in to do it so I have come in and left him to it.
I'd better now finalise my Sainsbury order which is coming on Monday. There are a few more bits I want to add and if I leave it till tomorrow I am bound to forget.

Just hoping it has cleared further up the M5 So sad to see them go and that is the end of my lovely holiday with them. So back to being on my own now. One load of washing in and Tesco expected 12-1pm. Hoping it is dry today so I can sort out the plants I bought yesteday at the garden centre. Although before I start on the garden I need to get the house tidy again. All go here then. BBL

Morning all,
Pc is saying mostly sunny and 4 degrees and it looks pretty cold and damp out there.
Just the shop to do today and BIL may come over but he was'nt sure.
Nose is'nt too good this morning as I keep sneezing so having to blow it but its not bleeding as such . Don't think this ream is going to work which will mean I have to have it quarterised and I am not looking forward to that as when they did Em's dad and they packed it he had to go to Exeter hospital to have it all taken out and had to stay there for three days.

It was grey and wet and horrible all morning though it brightened up this afternoon and we did see a bit of sun. The computer is telling me now that it is 8 degrees and sunny. I'm not sure what planet it's on but the sun set nearly half an hour ago and there's not even a pink streak left in the sky.
I decided today would have to be a h/w day as our home was beginning to look neglected. It's sorely in need of a proper spring clean. I gave all the upstairs rooms a thorough dust and hoover and a good tidy up and came down to the bottom of the stairs. OH managed to cover the whole of a work surface in the kitchen with bits of wire and tools. Goodness knows what he was doing but there was a lot of muttering and grumbling going on. Eventually he packed everything away and started cleaning out the cupboards in the utility which was helpful as they did need doing.
I had intended to carry on with cleaning after lunch but our neighbour was going to see her husband in hospital and was going to have to book taxis each way. The hospital is 20 miles away, so a 40 mile round trip. You can just imagine what taxis cost over that distance, so we said if she could get a taxi there we would drive to the hospital and pick her up to bring her home so she only had to pay one way. When we got back she insisted we went in and saw some new furniture she had recently bought and then insisted we had a cup of tea. In the end we didn't leave her till nearly 7 pm. Good job I had left a stew cooking in the slow cooker so I only had to do a few potatoes to go with it and we could eat by 7.30.
I'm not sure what we'll be doing tomorrow. I'd like to carry on with more cleaning or perhaps sort a couple of cupboards out but if it's dry weather it might be nice to go for a walk or do a bit in the garden.
Computer is still telling me it's sunny but it's really dark outside now :-S

(that saved me walking round next week.) Then we wnt to Tesco and got some bits I couldn't get on my tomorrow's delivery, then we got petrol for their journey home so that was a few things well done.

Oil has'nt arrived again..................now its supposed to be coming on Monday.
BIL been and gone and he got £62 for the batteries so I said get mower petrol with that so thats what he is going to do. He took two dead prssure washers with him to take to the tip so thats a bit more out of the way.
This morning I moved all the grass cuttings to the back of the hole so he can get more in the front when he does another cut. It was like moving a haystack there is so much that comes off the lawns.
Hope everyone is ok today. I also did a bit of gardening just taking off dead stalks on the kaffia lillies.
