Morning girls,
Woke at 5am for the loo and went back to bed and woke again at 9.49am so you could say I have had a good long sleep. Arm still niggling so I think it is phone the doc today as this is getting boring now. It will be two weeks tomorrow. Anng I have even tried the trick of unplugging Echo and plugging her back in again as that works most times. The kitchen lights over the table is the only one that I can't override as I don't know hwere thats connected as the others all have plugs which I cna take out.
Pc says rain to stop but we hav'nt has any and its 15 degrees. Must get some things ready to go on Ebay today. I like to get them on on a Friday as then I have a couple of days to get to the post if they sell.
Good luck to Vera with her eye injection today I do hope this works for her. Sending love and wishes she dos'nt have to wait too long.

Morning all,
Sunny and warm again a few little bubbles of cloud in ths sky . I seem to have pulled my side I think it must have been when I cleaned the window sills upstairs, I leaned out and stretched to do them and now its a bit painful so I'm having an easy day .
Mel i bet the strawberries went down a treat ,the first lot always taste good .
I see they have heard noises in the search for that little sub that was going down to look at the wreak of the Titanic ,how frightening it must be shut in that not knowing if you'll get out ,I hope they soon find them.
Well I see on the news they are all filing into Glastonbury, my goodness there are some contraptions they are using to take all their stuff in, big containers on wheels ,trollies and all sorts ,one had all his stuff wrapped tight in bubble wrap ,that's going to take some getting off .
Vera hope your hospital visit goes OK this morning ,I expect it will be a day or two before you can look in again with having the injection.

good morning all. It is the longest day today (so all downhill from now then :-D). 12 degrees and sunny, no more rain so back to watering tonight I suppose.
Vera, hopefully, as it ages the paint will darken a bit more and you will get used to it too.
Mel I have the same problem with Echo and Alexa. A couple of things still work but T had it on his tablet. we have managed to get into it but not sure what to do then. I usually wait for daughter to check when she is here. The one that turns the water feature on and off seems very tempermental, sometimes it works sometimes not but I can over-ride it manually.

Its good you have te glasses situation sorted Vera. As to the gate if you have thzt horrid paint colour on it why cold'nt oh just buy another tin of ordinary paint as the protective one is under it so should still work. we have had light and heavy rain here and its filled up both ponds a bit so that was good and there must have been enough to do the garden some good too.
My Echo is playing up and won't turn the kitchen light on and I don't know where it is connected as I only have a switch on the wall. Unless its in the loft. I know he used to get his tablet out and fiddle with that but he did'nt show me how to do it or have it on my tablet or phone.
Had ny first picking of strawberries for dinner tonight.

Mandy, apparently OH didn’t want the same paint again as it was waxy and wouldn’t take a second coat very well. It also seemed to get shabby looking very quickly so he wanted to use something that would withstand the weather better. He doesn’t want to keep redoing it. He decided to carry on with the “red” paint and it has toned down quite a lot as it’s dried. I’m not keen on it but I can live with it so we’ll leave it as it is.
Poor little cat. I hope she recovers quickly. The cost doesn’t surprise me. My daughter’s big dog recently slashed her paw and, with dressings and stitchings and redoing it when she pulled the stitches out, it cost well over £2000.
It is very heavy and humid here. I have showered but can’t face using the hair dryer so my hair will have to dry its own sweet way. OH is cooking (i.e. taking a ready meal out of the fridge and putting it in the oven) and apparently he is about to dish up so I’m off to eat now.

Afternoon all
We had some nice steady rain for most of the morning so I won't have to water later .
Oh Vera don't worry if you don't shower we can soon put a peg on our nose ;-) :-D :-D Hope all goes well for you with the next injection and that's good news about your glasses. What paint did you have on the gate /fence could you not have the same again ,it's getting expensive having to keep getting new tins .
One of sons little cats had a nasty cut on her leg so they took her to the vets this morning ,I nearly passed out when he told me how much it was going to be, £300 if it needed just bandaging up ,£500 if it needed washing out and stitching ,good job they are all insured.

Put out the flags! Raise a loud cheer! We have had rain :-D Not a lot, but enough to wet the ground a bit. It had stopped by 10 am. Now the sun is out but it is so humid that I am sweating like mad. I shall shower and wash my hair later as I have an eye injection in the morning and I can't shower for 3 days after that. If it's still as hot and I can't shower OH will have to walk in front of me with a bell shouting Unclean, Unclean, lol.
Fingers crossed I have at last got my glasses sorted. I eventually tracked down the manager who was supposed to be ringing me back to find the poor woman was managing 7 branches and moving around between them while constantly trying to respond to messages to do this or that or ring various people. Anyway, I explained the situation yet again and she said as a non-medical person she couldn't intervene but she would get in touch with a senior optometrist or dispensing optician and get back to me. She rang back in about half an hour and said she had got agreement to go ahead with the lens change without another eye test and had started getting the paperwork processed. All I had to do was get my glasses to the opticians this morning. This I did and they are going off to the lens manufacturers today. It will be a couple of weeks till they are back but at least I can see an end to struggling on without them.
(Had to stop here for a while as Tesco came with a delivery)
OH went out a few minutes ago to put the new paint on the gate. He just made one brush stroke and said you had better come and see this before I do anymore. Omg, it is way too red :-| When these paints are specially mixed for you, you know that the colour won't be exactly as it was on the chart but I didn't expect it to be quite so bright. We can't keep paying out for tins of this expensive paint so we're not sure what to do. I've told OH that he can make the choice of leaving it sludgy pink or turning the whole thing red and I will accept whatever he does - at least for now. Perhaps in a few months we'll have another think.
It was a good talk on Morocco last night, with some interesting slides. This speaker does a lot of travel talks but this is a new one and we were the first group to hear it so we were his guinea pigs. We all agreed it was excellent but a bit long. It was about an hour and a quarter and people do start getting a bit fidgety after about 45 minutes. Luckily, before we said anything the speaker himself said it was too long and he would condense it for the next group.
I still have some shopping to put away and a few other jobs to do so I had better get on. I want to get ahead a bit as I know I won't be able to do much tomorrow.

Good morning all 14 degrees here and........ It is raining :-) :-) :-) and must have been for some time as the patio is like a paddling pool. Hopefully it is soaking in and not bouncing off and also that it is filling the water barrel. No watering of the two gardens today anyway. Just hope it knows when to stop mow.
Vera hope the new colour is acceptable. And really hope that you can get the glasses situation sorted.
Looking at Mr M's latest post, I can see where a lot of my time in the past 20 years has been spent. Mandy hope you got the ironing out of the way, so pleased I don't do ironing these days, only when really necessary. Luckily I can afford the use of the tumble drier and mine is so good I rarely need to iron. Mel is your arm any better?

We had a drop more rain during the night but not enough to even wet the ground. Today is hot and sticky.
OH decided he disliked the colour of the paint he'd bought as well. I think it looked even worse when it was dry. He went out and got a colour chart this morning and we picked out what we wanted and he went back and bought some more. The colour on the chart was OK but the colours don't always look the same when they are mixed up. It should be a sort of mahogany colour and I am hoping it doesn't come out too red looking.
I am still fighting to get my glasses sorted. At the moment I am waiting for a call back from the manager of the opticians but I don't think she is going to call. If I don't hear shortly I'll have to chase her up again.
I've been busy this morning. I did 3 loads of washing and got that on the line, then answered some emails and booked a self catering place for a week in September. I also made our main meal for lunchtime so we only need a quick snack tonight as we have a club meeting. It's one of our regular speakers tonight. He spends his life travelling and tonight he is going to be talking about Morocco.
AnnG, I can't believe your little one is 7 already. Where have those years gone? I hope she has a lovely day. It's obviously a good day for births as my eldest granddaughter and my step-grandson both have birthdays today.

Coffee morning went well, 6 of us so enough to have a good chat but not so many that people talked in small groups.
It is great granddaughter's seventh birthday today. Those years went so quickly, she will be a teenager in no time. Actually I think she is already one in her head. :-D

Sorry to read you have lost a dear friend Anng
Vera that was a nice little win you had and fancy OH winning and picking the wine :-D Hope the paint has dried to a better colour ,it might grow on you after a while.
Mel your doing well with your ebay sales ,how's the arm today .
I need to get some ironing done ,there's quite a pile there as I'd been putting it off with it being so hot, as it's a bit cooler I'd better get it done.

Looking at the forecast last evening it showed a really large amount of rain had passed over this way. It didn't touch us so don't know who got our rain. We had a really really light shower, maybe just enough to dampen the ground.
good morning all. Gt Granddaughter is 7 today. Goodness those years went quickly.
Going to a friend's for coffee and cake this morning to celebrate her upcoming birthday tomorrow. (a special one). :-D

We’ve had a couple of showers this evening but it hasn’t amounted to much at all :-( I hoped we’d get the thundery downpours we were promised but no such luck. Tomorrow’s forecast is for hot and dry weather again so the poor garden is suffering a bit.

Annoying Vera when the colour is not like it says on the tin. Maybe it will dry to a better colour.
Yes it was very sad to hear about John's death but he was in pain so it is good that he is not any more. Mel, there is is wife and two girls, one of whom has a husband and they both live near their Mum.
It is 25 degrees here now and cloudy sun and very close and PC says rain coming.

Oh, that is sad AnnG. Even when you expect it news like that is always upsetting.
It's very hot, sunny and heavy here. Depending on whether I look at the phone, iPad or PC the temperature is anywhere between 23 and 26 degrees and there is no sign of the promised rain, though the PC is telling me that rain is expected in 179 minutes. Not sure how it can be quite that exact but I'll believe in the rain when it comes.
OH bought a very small tin of some special weather protective paint to do a side gate and narrow fence panel. This small tin cost £30 and is supposed to be terracotta colour. OH has painted it this morning and I can only describe it as sludgy pink. It is horrible. OH said if I really hate it he will do it again but at £30 a small tin it seems extravagant to do it again. I've said I'll try to get used to it but if I can't we'll redo it later in the year.
