Hi Everyone,
Just popping in to wish you all a very Happy Christmas! :-)
Turkey's cooked and the roast potatoes and parsnips are defrosted, other veg prepared, so all that's needed is the oven for half an hour or so tomorrow. The Turkey crown is half as big again as last year's and I ordered SMALL. I could only just get it in our oven by taking the top shelf out.
Friday night we had a power cut at midnight. With no road lights on nowadays it was pitch dark and the torch I keep in a bedroom drawer wouldn't work, so I felt my way to the kitchen for the thing that lights the gas hob, felt my way back into the lounge and found the decorative candle near the front door and lit it. Then I changed my torch batteries and it still didn't work and OH had found the big torch kept in the porch by then and it was very dim, so he put new batteries in that. Then I threw a coat on and found my way to my car outside and found the torch I keep in there. Phew it shone brightly. So we blew out the candle and went to bed with our working torches. Just settled down when the landline rang out among all the burglar alarms that had been set off. OH took his torch to answer it and it was the elctricity people checking if we were alright (apparently they do this as once you are a certain age you are classed as vulnerable, which is good.) The power was back on after about half an hour and they rang again to make sure it was on for us. My other torch was fine again after sanding the contacts in it with a nailboard.
After 3 phone calls each to SKY in the past 3 weeks, as one of the multiroom boxes stopped working again, they phoned back yesterday to say they will come and look at it on Jan 4th! The problem was that we couldn't book an engineer on line and it seems neither could they, due to the previous visit in November not being cleared off their system! How silly is that! Then today would you believe the sound went on the big tv, so that's out of action as well now and we just have the other old bedroom tv over Christmas and the New Year! :-( Still, at least we have a working tv.
Better go now before Santa comes! I have a big chocolate and marzipan bar I put away for OH some time ago and I can't remember where it is now.

Ladies, we could have had a 3-way chat :-0 as I was awake a lot of the night too. Too much on my mind I expect.... sort of a 'must remember to.....' list going through my brain :-0
Some strange subs there Mel especially for things already ordered :-S
Happy Christmas to all of you. I may be able to look in tomorrow, but if not, I hope you all have a lovely day celebrating in your own special ways.

Good morning all, it is not very nice again, wet but looks maybe a bit brighter than it has been. Vera we could have had a conversation in the night as I was awake too for long spells, did sleep in between but went back to sleep at seven and finally got downstairs at 0949. The first time daughter has been up before me. No sign of the younger generation but they were up much later.
Have a safe and quiet journey to your daughters Vera and enjoy your Christmas with them.
I will be on here later I am sure but in case I am not I wish everyone on the thread a happy Christmas <3

Morning Vera and all,
Once again it is a really miserable orning and very wet with it and its still windy. pc is saying afternoon rain and its 11 degrees.
Shopping comes today and I have 6 subs. I never know their logic as I ordered figs and they have sent me asda dates and I have already ordered dates they have sent a chocolate trifle instead of chocolate eclairs a bumper pack of veg when I ordered the carrots, sprouts, and a swede and something else, asda chicken pies I ordered birdeye pies and hazel nuts instead of chesnuts and a full fat pate instead of the reduced fat one which I shall keep but the rest can go back. There are so many I don't want I have had to write a list to remember them all.
Vera I hope you have a pleasent journey to your daughter tomorrow and that your poor head clears a bit. Its probable all the thinking of the day ahead and making sure you have everything you need for the two days away.
I wish you all a very Happy Chirstmas for tomorrow whatever you are doing and safe journeys to your desinations and good food and company.
Whne I said goodnight to Echo last night she said don't forget to leave out a mince pie for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. I think she was a bit early.

Good morning all I’ve been awake since 3 am and at 5.30 I gave up trying to sleep, got up and made some tea and brought it back to bed with my iPad. My head is thumping now so I’ll try and get a rest this afternoon or I will be fit for nothing tomorrow.
It’s very mild but looks as though it’s going to be a grey day with thick cloud and gusty winds.
We are going to open the presents we have here later today as we will be off to our daughter fairly early tomorrow. It’s only about a 45 minute drive so not too far to go. Our plan is to stay overnight and come back on the afternoon of Boxing Day.
In case I don’t post again for a day or two I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas <3

Been busy all day. Took the wreath and posy for mum down the churchyard this afternoon and then had a tidy up of the table so I can get the Christmas cloth on it and place mats. finished the cake but I hav'nt done loads of fancy stuff on the top just a sign and candle thing and put glitter ivy leaves round it and finished with the usual red ribbon with little holly leaves on it.
Put most of my crafting stuff away just some of it on the top of the little filing cabinet or I won't be able to remember where I have put it all when I need it again.
I too hope little Maya in well on the mend now and so enjoy her first Christmas in her own little way. When she's older she won't remember it anyway. Bless.

Afternoon all, It's been a nice day quite mild here like Vera we've seen sun too and the sun going down just now made the sky look beautiful ,it started off quite yellow and gradually turned orange and red . I have cooked my gammon today but it was too big to go in the pressure cooker so I cut it in half and cooked each bit separately. I've made Viennse biscuits for the family as they all love them and its been another day on the go ,dil came with the beef and pigs in blankets this morning and it's a lovely piece of beef . Poor Jake he's working from seven in the morning till seven at night they are so busy ,he said they've had huge queues that stretched right down the precinct.
Nice to get a bargain Anng ,I've had some nice meat from morrisons. Hope little Maya is on the mend now for her first Christmas.

I can’t believe it, it hasn’t rained today :-). We’ve even had a bit of sun in between the clouds. It’s still quite breezy but nothing like as windy as it has been.
Like Mel I had a couple of strange dreams last night and one involved AnnG. We were in a kitchen somewhere, it wasn’t mine. Ann was at the sink washing up and I was drying and it went on and on. Goodness only knows what I thought we’d catered for but the number of plates suggested we’d fed the whole town. I was glad to wake up and find I wasn’t really holding a soggy tea towel.
I hope your OH is feeling better now Gill and able to go back to work. Is he still at the same care home?
AnnG, clumsy is just the right word for the Tesco WhatsApp system. I wish I had thought of it yesterday when I was doing a survey for them. They asked if I would do a short survey about my experience with customer contact. I said yes and the first thing they asked was how it could be improved. So I told them! Basically I said they needed to bring back a customer service email address, that not everyone had, or wanted to have, WhatsApp on their phone which in any case was a pain to use. I also said that providing a phone number wasn’t sufficient either as many hard of hearing people find phone calls difficult. I did say I was happy with the result I got but not happy with the method I had to use to get it. I turned down the opportunity to make either a video or audio recording of what I said, answered a couple more questions and that was that. I don’t suppose my lone voice will make a difference but if enough people complain they might listen. Yes, and pigs might fly ;-)

Good morning all. Very grey here dry at the moment but that won’t last. I have stayed here while daughter and SiL have gone to collect the Turkey. They have a half hour slot for collection.. Yesterday in Morrisons a lot of the joints of meat were half price at £5.50 a kilo. Daughter was buying beef for goulash but instead she bought a joint of beef which cost less than the beef for goulash and cut it up herself but first cutting off a small joint for later. That was a really good offer.

Miserable morning here and pc says mostly cloudy and 10 degrees. Its so dark I really need the light on.
I woke with a start as I thought I heard BIL at the garage but I must have been dreaming as when I arose he was'nt there. I was dreaming I was down the shop buying iced slices and jam doghnuts which were'nt at all they were cheese and pickle bagels.

Goodness Mel what a pain that water problem is proving to be. And you would think with it having gone on so long they could have done it sooner than the 15th. Shame about the scarf hat and, as it was not as advertised they should refund postage.which firm was it bought from?
Vera it is a very clumsy way of doing it isn’t what’s app? The second time I used it I knew not to spend time writing out the full problem. But you don’t know that the first time. I did actually get to ‘chat’ to a person the first time but not the second. I just think it is clumsy. Still you got a refund and free meat. Maya slept ok last night and seems to be getting better.
Gill, hope OH is ok to go into work tomorrow. Well done dragging out the job so he didn’t feel guilty for resting. Hope he feels better now.
