Good morning all. Dry at the moment but still very windy. Just heard from Cynth, something to look forward to when I go home. The rads are cold again so the heating must have gone off. It might be the wind has blown the pilot out but probably just means whatever caused it to go off before has happened again.

Morning all,

Ita a bit brghter here this morning with some watery sunshine but its still quite windy. Its so nice when the wind drops and its all quiet again.

O poor Vera you don't like to offend people but some just go on and on about nothing interesting. They sound as though they are both the same so its good they have each other.

Nothing planned for today. I may do some washing cos there's always a bin full. Feed the girls and wild birds and thats about my day finished.

I’m late on parade again. It’s been another busy day. I decided to do just one load of washing this morning and had a tidy up while it was going round the machine. Then daughter and her partner arrived with my phone. They only had time for a coffee before leaving again. It was good of them to add quite a few miles to their journey to bring the phone back.

There were one or two phone calls and then after lunch I changed my mind on some of my finger food for the neighbours tomorrow so decided on a quick trip to the nearest supermarket. Only it wasn’t a quick trip. Not only was it very busy but we met a couple we know, pleasant enough people but a bit odd. He insisted on telling us the plot of the last 3 films he’d seen and then the wife described several restaurant meals they had eaten in the past and how much they had cost. In the end I am afraid I had to tell a little white lie in order to get away without offending them.

By the time we had got home and I had sorted out the shopping it was time to prepare and cook our dinner.

All morning was so dark and gloomy and this afternoon we had some heavy rain again. It’s been pretty windy on and off and apparently we have more wind and rain to look forward to tomorrow. Oh joy!

I have just moved my solar lights into the west window as we now have a little sun AND enough blue sky to make a sailor a pair of trousersThe wind has seemed to drop too.

This morning just after 21pm it was so dark the solarmeter on the wall had its red light on which means it is shutting down as its getting dark.

Not many two slot toasters in Curry’s but they do have two Russell Hobs. Also went to Dixon a furniture/homeward store for coffee and they also had some two slot toasters so I know what I am looking for now. Came back home for lunch, youngsters have gone to Keswick and it is dark and still wet and windy. So….. back to reading.

Afternoon all,

We've had a lovely Christmas lots of nice pressies and food so today we're having a relaxing day and will be eating up the left overs and there's plenty,I see everyone has had a good Christmas too.
The weather yesterday was so mild and sunny but today its a miserable dark day really wet and now the winds getting up .

Ann I hope you can soon get the television problems sorted ,we only played one game of scrabble and I had the lowest score .

Good morning all. Yet another wild wet windy day here. We have only had one dry day since I got here. So no walks around the harbour yet. Today it looks like a rrip to Curry’s so daughters youngest can advise daughter on a replacement computer. I need to look at toasters so I know which to order on line when I get back.

Morning all,

Yesterday was calm and quite bright at times but this morning it back to very wet and very windy. Why do we only get one calm day? in millions.

Slept well and dreamt I had bought myself a new white bra online and was trying it on when I saw it had some foam padding attached and I did'nt need that . I never did see if it fitted or not as I woke up.

Nothing planned for today but the usual, feed the fish feed the chickens feed the wild birds and do some washing up from yesterday.

She'll get there Anng. Lovely to here she is over it now. I had Scarlettina as a child. I was covered in tiny red spots you could'nt put a match between. Don't know how old I was but very young but at school.

I saved two present for today from BIL and SIL and one was a box of Ferro Roche and the other one was a big snuggle blanket thing with a huge pocket in the from big enough to get a hot water bottle in or just your hand and a fur lined hoody thing. Its lovely I have'nt had the heating on since I put it on and its 7 degrees here now. Its huge but comes over my knees which are always cold even if I have the heating on.

Cooked my self a roast chicken dinner today with plenty left over for tomorrow spuds, carrots, parsnip, pigs in blankets and yorkshire puds sprouts and carrots. Should keep me going for nearly a week.

Glad you are safely home Vera but what a shame you left your phone behind. Good that daughter has to come your way to drop it in.

Hope you all sleep really well tonight to make up for lost sleep over the past days.

It was another busy afternoon here. Grandsons etc sent out for a walk we stayed in as Maya and her Mum came round. She is over the scarlet fever now and was full of beans. She is almost crawling, if she could just work out what to do with the second leg.

Evening all

We are back home again now after a quiet but relaxing Christmas. It sounds as though you have all had a good time, though Annx had a TV problem.

I stupidly left my phone at my daughters but she has to come in this direction tomorrow to drive her partner to hospital for an appointment and to take her car in for a service and pick up a courtesy car so she will come on here with my phone..

I’m very tired as I’ve hardly slept for a week so in a while I am going to have some soup and go to bed. I’ll be back tomorrow.

Morning all,

I had a lie in for the first time in weeks and did'nt get up till 10.05am. I knew I did'nt have to get up for anybody who may be calling in for this that and the other so it was safe to do so.

Gosh we had a great dinner, there was turkey, two kinds of stuffing, parsnips, carrot, creamed leeks, swede with Devon cream and pepper the devon way, roast tatoes sprouts and peas. Poor Em forgot to put the parsnips out but there was'nt much room on the table for another dish. As I said before there were 9 of us. I came home and did the chickens corn about 4pm and went back over there with my Christmas cake. I think I boiled it to much as I found it a little on the dry side but it will mature I am sure. O and we had Christmas pudding made by Em's mum Val with clotted cream, custart or icecream.

Hope those going home have a safe journey with not too much traffic on the roads or holdups.

I am just going to sort out something nice for the chickens this morning now so BBL.

Good morning all. Oh dear Ann that was a shame. I assume it was not general, have you checked with neighbours? It seems like it went off when there was overload at peak time. Hope you can get it fixed.

Well it was a noisy, chaotic but enjoyable day here. Middle Grandson plus the two little ones were here for an hour or so, in the afternoon. more presents and the noise level increased

We had a lovely Turkey dinner mostly cooked by Greg plus something I had never had before. Sprout mouse, very creamy and a delicate sprout flavour made by Greg’s wife Izzy. Followed by a lovely Christmas pudding made as always by Cynth.

Hope. Everyone else had a good day.

Vera have a safe journey home.

What a Christmas, all the tvs went off at 5.00pm, no sound or picture on any now! Now we are wondering if it is the new SKYQ box they fitted in November. Better get the Scrabble game out now! lol. :-(

Annx

Annx Report 25 Dec 2023 14:37

Afternoon All,

Raining and dull outside now, but the Christmas lights inside look cheerful!

AnnG we were woken up by the alarms going off like Mandy said. I hope little Maya is a bit better now. I had Scarlet fever when I was about 4-5 years old and was whisked away in an ambulance on my own to isolation hospital about 40 miles away. Parents could only see you from outside through a window. We weren't allowed to get out of bed at first and the nurses carried us to the toilet. Every stitch of our clothing and whatever we brought in with us had to be fumigated before we could go home. My parents brought me a Punch and Judy toothbrush and little doll, but I wouldn't take them when the nurses brought them to me. I didn't recognise them so insisted they weren't mine!

Mandy, we tried the 'mute' as we are both daft enough to have caught it, but no luck. We checked connections and switched everything off then back on again, still no joy. However, OH flicked the tv on this morning, just in case ,and to our amazement the sound was back again! He's tried it since and it's still ok. The only thing we can think is that they did a software update overnight that fixed it. :-S I'll be cooking the Turkey the day before again in future, as it saves so much time. I can freeze some tonight. A bit of the non stick came off the tin though so that is in the bin now! OH managed to give me a glass he'd chipped a chunk of the rim on and I left a bit of Schloer in the bottom, as I was remembering when he did it with a trifle dish and I cut my mouth! He is so impatient and forceful putting things away. So that's in the bin as well!

Better go, I'm being summoned to watch Tabby McTat. Not sure whether I'll like it though. :-) I enjioyed St Paul's Cathedral on the bedroom telly earlier.
