SuffolkVera Report 13 Feb 2024 21:33

I also posted several things at the same time and I've been trying to think whether Mel's card was in a white envelope or not. I think it was in a coloured one but if it was me I apologise in advance. You've certainly got us all wondering.Mel. Your keyboard eems to behave very strangely. I've never heard of one going quite so haywire before.

No pancakes for us today. If I'd thought of it earlier I could have told OH I would get lunch today and done some pancakes then. We prefer just lemon and a little sugar with ours. We don't like them too sweet, though a little stewed apple is OK.

Is your hospital dental department far from you Ann? It sounds as though you had to turn round and go back for OH almost as soon as you arrived home. The hygienist seems to have been helpful.

What a pity Jake's got an infection in his hand now, AnnG. It must be hard to keep it completely clean and dry in hiss line of work and he's probably worried about how long he will be off work if he is dependent on the income from these jobs. I was thinking of you yesterday. Memories do come flooding back and I hope yours were all happy ones. February is a bad month for me with memories. Not only was my brother's funeral on the 8th but my mother died on 23rd, a very favourite aunt's funeral was also on 23rd and my father died on 27th. This year will be the 50th anniversary of my mum's death and it still seems like yesterday. It doesn't really get any easier does it? You just learn to live with it. I wonder if you didn't sleep well because of your thoughts during the day. I hope you have a better rest tonight.

I'm still hearing about people having trouble getting appointments to see their GP and it made me realise yet again how lucky we are with out practice. OH has been having a leg problem again so yesterday he filled in the online form. Within an hour or so he had an email back saying he needed a face to face appointment and to ring at 8 am today to set it up. When he rang at exactly 8 am he was no. 60 in the queue and wondered how far ahead his appointment would be. When he finally reached the head of the queue he was given an appointment for 3 pm today. There might have been a longer wait if he had wanted to see a specific doctor but, as luck would have it, he was allocated an appointment with a doctor we like who has seen him before. We really do get good service.

I went to the chiropodist this morning so I have tidy feet for a few weeks. Her price has gone up to £41 now but she is very thorough and very good so I'll stick with her. I also had an unexpected visitor this afternoon. I was ironing when she arrived and had a couple of other jobs planned before cooking our meal. She didn't stay as long as usual but I felt all out of gear when she had gone and I haven't caught up with myself since. I'm now feeling quite tired so I think I am going to get a wheatbag to put against my back and a hottie for my feet and go to bed with a book. I hope you all sleep well tonight and only have lovely dreams. Night, night.

You've got us all wondering now Mel! lol. No pancakes here I'm afraid. We do like them, but don't often have them on pancake day. I have fond memories of visiting The Hungry I pancake house with my friend as a teenager. They did wonderful ones and the ones with maple syrup and fresh cream were my favourite. At home I just like lemon juice with a tiny sprinkle of sugar.

AnnG I did half wonder whether to pop in Morrisons where I was going to meet OH after his appointment, but with being early enough for him to get a breakfast and not knowing how long he might have to wait if they were running late, I decided to go home instead and hope the traffic would have eased going the opposite direction. I popped in our local shop for a few bits and had just got home and put the kettle on for a COT when he rang to say he was done and walking to Morrisons, so I didn't even get my COT. :-) The match he was going to tonight was cancelled as the pitch was too waterlogged. It has rained all day here.

I hope it is not mine. It sounds like one with no stamp. I posted six when I posted yours and I checked they all had stamps. However I did once have something I stamped which arrived minus a stamp, I think because they are sticky if they catch they can peel off.

We,ve got rain blowing in the wind and it make everything wet and soggy.

Feels colder in than out and its 11 degrees out. Just corned the chickens and its really miserable out there and its getting dark now.

I am going online now to see if I can pay the £2.50.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Feb 2024 14:44

Had you switched it off Mel or do you mean it was on but won't call up anything onto the screen? Is it an Iphone or Android?

Good job he took his toothbrush ann or a cooked breakfast before the hygenist would not be a good idea. What did you do while he was enjoying himself :-D

that would be a handy way to get rid of the demolished stuff.

Jake would not have been here today anyway as it has rained non stop all day.

Afternoon All,

Drizzly this morning for our trip to the hospital again and we set off before 8,00am so rush hour traffic was everywhere. The main road to the city is lined with some handsome, decorative 3 storey houses that must have been lovely in their heyday, but the groundfloors are all shop frontages now that used to be an interesting mix of shops. I think mum, who used to live nearby and enjoyed the mix of shops would horrified to find shops like the 'Gentleman's Massage Parlour' I noticed this morning!!

OH's first port of call was the toilets only to find them overflowing into the hospital corridor and a nurse directing people elsewhere! He had plenty of time before his appointment so went to the restaurant and had a cooked breakfast there which only cost £2.50!! Off to clean his teeth next before seeing the hygeinist. Any problems and he is to ring and ask for her, which is good to know.

I noticed the van belonging to someone called the Wasteman working up the road earlier and have made a note of his phone number. He clears all kinds of waste, house and garden and online it says he is cheaper than a skip, so I will contact him to ask if he would dismantle the old arbour and shed to take away.

Oh Mel I hope it isn't a white envelope I sent!

Now I'm having one of those moments when there's lots you need to do, but can't decide what to do and you don't fancy doing much anyway! :-D I've got some FH bits to add to my tree so will do that first.

Shopping came early and then the postman cameand brought me two cards and a postcard saying I had a parcel but there was £2.50 to pay for it before it could be delivered. Now I don't remember if I ordered anything or don't know if someone has sent me something.

AnninGlos Report 13 Feb 2024 08:00

Good morning all. a bit damp out there and 6 degrees. Hoping for a dry spell so that I can walk round to Tesco, from walking to the optician yesterday I could see it is now more or less ok with the roadworks (new cycle paths) clear on that route.
I have the bedding in the wash as I was awake early, didn't sleep that well last night.

Mel are you still having keyboard trouble? I thought you had a new key board.

Hope the traffic is not too bad tomorrow.

Well done Mel putting us all to shame cleaning windows.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Feb 2024 19:09

Iv'e cleaned the little loo windows and one of the bedroom ones, hoovered the bedroom and kitchen and diner and cleaned the glass in the door to the lounge. Hung up lots of clothes and put ironing away.

Hav'nt I been a good girl?

Did a little bit of painting too of miniature keys and a padlock.

Annx Report 12 Feb 2024 18:29

What colour Begonias will they be AnnG? I want to get some this year as they seem to cope with the dry conditions we may get again. I can only imagine how sad it must be to remember your loved one's funeral, so it was a good idea to keep your mind busy and have a chat at the garden centre. It was 5 years yesterday since my sister passed away and things still pop into my head that I think I could ask her. and then I remember I can't.

What a shame Jake can't come tomorrow. It must be hard to keep a wound clean in his work but hopefully the antibiotics will soon work.

OH said some roadworks caused queues and chaos on his trip into the city this morning and it is the way we need to go tomorrow when I drive him to the hospital dental department for a clean. He'd have gone in his own car, but had seen the long queue at the carpark when he went to the eye hospital.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Feb 2024 16:33

Had a nice chat round the local garden centre, had some points to spend on my loyalty card so bought three begonia corms to go in in April. At least the optician and a chat with a friend has more or less taken my mind off the date. 3 years ago today was Tony's funeral (I still have trouble writing that). A pity the weather was not like today it was damp and bitterly cold whereas today it is 8 degrees and full sun and blue skies.

Just heard Jake can't come tomorrow to do the garden, he is incapacitated for a couple of weeks now as his hand is infected. Silly man should not have been working with garden soil, I think it has got in the plaster. He is on antibiotics and painkillers so I have to wait until he is better now. Not really a problem as it was just small jobs they were going to do.

Afternoon All,

We had a frost here but it was just pretty fern patterns on the boot by the time I went out in the welcome sunshine. Doesn't it make you feel better! OH had already left for a meeting in the city.

I was thinking the same as Vera about us all supporting the Opticians and I see it's Gwyn's turn tomorrow, so good luck you don't need new glasses Gwyn! I see you got a 'Pass Go' card this time AnnG, so don't need any either which good. I got mine adjusted this morning and I think they are ok now.

What kind of cakes are defrosted Vera? Pity we don't all live closer and help you eat some. :-D I was wondering what kind of cake Mandy had for her birthday........chocolate?? The only HW I have done today was wipe out the oven ash after it cleaned itself yesterday and wipe out the microwave. I did a salmon tray bake for when OH got home but nothing since.

I think the filter on my stick hoover needs cleaning too Mel so that's another job you've reminded me of! lol :-D

Those padlocks do rust don't they Mandy. I had a reminder about putting the special oil on our new front door lock the other day. I know I bought some, but can I find it! I thought I'd put it in the bottom of a tall cupboard near the door so it was handy, unless OH has had a tidy up in there?
