Good morning all 6 degrees here this morning and misty again. woke at 5am and had trouble getting back to sleep. I always find if I wake then after a reasonable sleep my mind is too 'busy' to get back to sleep.

I am going in to town this morning. four of us are going on the Cathedral highlights tour. Well hopefully 4 as the numbers have gone up and down started at 6 dropped to five then dropped again to 4. We have lunch booked at a favourite restaurant.

It'll be lovely to see baby more often Vera what a treat to look forward to. Sounds like you have had a great few days with visitors and coffee meetings. I hope you have a better night tonight and get some well earned sleep after all the activity. I thought whats going on when I read the first lines of your post but then it reminded me of how mine goes sometimes. I type away and things don't come out and then they appear later on with some letters missing and I have to go and correct it all but I thought it was me!! or my keyboard as I still hav'nt put the new one on.

BIL has sent me more photos to show you so I will do that tomorrow. I have them all ready downloaded so they are all ready to go when I get a bit of time.

Looks as though you had a lovely time Vera. It will be good if you do get to see baby regularly. And good for her too to know her great grandparents.

Unfortunately my friend is not able to take me on Tuesday so it will be the bus. I have asked on the local site and people who have used it say it works ok.

I hope you have a good night and the migraine doesn’t develop.

I'm here and here's another long post Mel. You really have been busy and got a lot I'm here and here's another long post Mel. You have been really busy and got a lot done. Is your hip pain any easier? Be careful not to overdo it. Sometimes you just have to give in and rest. Thank you for sending your Bil's photos. He is such a good photographer and they are very atmospheric.

What a nuisance that you have to go to a different hospital AnnG. I hope your friend is able to take you. We occasionally have that problem here. Mostly we get referred to the West Suffolk Hospital but occasionally we'll get sent to Ipswich. They're both very difficult to get to by public transport but the West Suffolk is fractionally easier.

Annx, I hope someone in the planning department takes notice of objections to that warehouse scheme. I imagine they will get quite a lot. Now you have to think about the Colin Pitchfork issue where there are so many things to be considered. Rather you than me, as they say.

Your dil is making very good progress with her course Mandy. Well done, her. It's not easy to ha ve a job, look after a family, run a home and do the extra studying required.

Well, I have had a lovely birthday week, the best for years. Wednesday it was lunch with friends, as you know, and Saturday was just an easy, pleasant day. Grandson and family arrived early afternoon on Sunday and left Monday lunchtime. My daughter and her partner came later as he needed to rest in the afternoon. They arrived about 6 pm and stayed till about 9.45 pm so we all had a lovely meal together. Daughter had bought me quite a big solar lantern for our garden table and a box of 3 different sorts of fudge and grandson and partner gave me a framed photo of OH, myself and the baby which was taken at the beginning of December when they came down. Etched into the frame are the words "I love you Great Nan and Grandad". I'm not really into these rather sentimental things but it was very sweet.

The baby is a joy, very good and full of smiles. She shows such an interest in what's going on around her and plays well with little toys. There can't be many 6 month old babes that will "high five" you! Grandson says they plan to try and get down to see us and his other grandmother every few weeks if they can which would be great but we don't put any pressure on them. They have work and a child to look after as well as trying to look after their house and garden.

Today has been a bit hectic and hasn't been a very good day for me. I slept badly and have been teetering on the edge of a migraine all day though I gave in and took a couple of my pills earlier and feel a little better now. Today is the 18th anniversary of my Dad's death and I've been thinking of him and all he had to put up with over the years all day. which hasn't helped my mood.

This morning I did 3 loads of washing and tidied the house after the weekend and this afternoon I had to go into town to pick up my meds and post a parcel containing something of the baby's that had got left behind. I had checked parcel weights, dimensions and prices online before I went and decided it would be £4.19 I had a shock when the PO clerk asked me for £9.45. When I queried it with him that was apparently tracked, signed for and goodness knows what else, so I told him I just wanted ordinary 1st class postage please and he charged me £4.19. He hadn't asked me what service I wanted and, if I hadn't checked at home first, I would have paid the £9.45. I also popped into Waitrose for a couple of bits I wanted for tonight's dinner as we haven't had a supermarket delivery for 3 weeks and I am running out of some things.

This evening I have put in a big order with Sainsbury's for delivery Thursday afternoon so that will stock me up a bit.

Tomorrow friends are coming for morning coffee and OH has to go to the opticians to pick up his new glasses in the afternoon. I might go with him as mine could still do with a slight adjustment.

OH wants me to transfer some money from one bank account to another so I am going to do that online now and then close the computer down and maybe go to bed early and try and get some sleep. I hope you all sleep well too.

EDIT I know there are duplicated words and mistakes but every time I try to correct anything a few lines disappear and then sometimes reappear and sometimes don't so I decided to just post it before I lose the lot.

She's probably having a great time with the family. I thinkshe'll come and tell us all about it soon and we will have a lovely long post to read about what they all got up to.

You back now?

AnninGlos Report 27 Feb 2024 15:23

How long was Vera's family staying? They were due the afternoon of Sunday and we have not heard from Vera since Sunday morning. I hope all is ok there.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Feb 2024 14:59

My cream cakes were like that only had two days on them and I had bought two packs of two. The last one tasted off so the birds had that and it did'nt last long out on the feeder. Whiuch reminds me I must look at the date on the new box but I only bought one this week. I had two last week cos I thought BIL was coming.

Hope you got to your appointment ok without much trouble bus wise.

We had sunshine this mroning but it now overcast and grey and very cold out there its 9 degrees but feels like -2.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Feb 2024 14:45

Haven't heard from her yet so I guess she is out somewhere. No rush though. The buses are doable except it is not a stagecoach but so I have to pay. It is also time consuming, I would have to get a bus from here about 1.10 to be sure of catching the bus from Gloucester at 205 for my appointment at 315.

Mel, I think that the pickers are either not so well trained or are getting 'slapdash' as they don't seem as good as they were a year or so back. Last week I had prawns that only had a really short date. Delivery man was very good, he refunded the money and told me to keep them.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Feb 2024 11:51

How annoying Ann I hope your friend can take you to save you the bother of all the buses. Perhaps today will be an annoying day all round for all of us.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Feb 2024 11:49

Shoppings come and I am missing my lasagne. Their system is'nt up to date and dos'nt say my order has been delivered. I am so cross as I like the lasagne best out of all thier meals for one. Now I have to wait till it comes up as delivered and by that time I will have forgotten all about it. Its so annoying. I sent back the sub of the cut chicken breast.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Feb 2024 10:47

I was fully expecting my referral to be to Glos Royal, I have just received the appointment.

For Tuesday 5 March at 15.15 At Cheltenham General Hospital with Dermatology medical photographer, at the medical Photography suite . Never had that before so I am assuming it is because of the location. Or the medical photographer is cheaper than seeing the consultant in the first instance.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that my friend can take me as Cynth will be away. If she can't I will either have to get a bus to Gloucester and then get the number 99 - the hospital bus to take me it runs every 30 minutes or find a taxi.

Morning Anng and all,

Hip really bad this morning again and I need to take some pills.

We had frost last night before I went to bed but its 2 degrees here now pc says cloudy and it is.

Shopping comes today with Mohamid, not had that driver before and he's 8 stops away so I better get myself dressed and ready. I have one sub this week, diced chciken instead of the mini fillets.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Feb 2024 08:04

Good morning all, quite bright at the moment but 0 degrees and a frost last night.

Thank you for the pics Mel, what a great photographer he is. What does he do with his photos. Those latest would be good calendar photos.

I have heard from Jake and, all being well he will be back here on Friday. He says his hand is healing well now so I hope he is right. Also hope the weather is ok on Friday so they can get on with it.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Feb 2024 21:45

Have sent some pics from BIL.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Feb 2024 21:30

Yes why does it happen at the end of a post?

I have some hair for my dolls in a couple of different colours. Gwain the first one looked good with his white hair and I have a soft sort of grey I am going to use for the currant one, or should that be current? I am going to see if I can find a bit of green velvet for his hat if not it will have to be black or a lovely tealish colour I have.

I can't have a garden bin as I would'nt be able to get it up the top and I would only have to cut down one or two shrubs and it would be full to overflowing. You should see the amount of grass cutting BIL managed to do last year. I told him not to pick up the cuttings from outside the wall and the back field just on the front grass outside the house.

Just remembered something I want to add to the shopping and I only have 31 mins to get it on there.

Annx

Annx Report 26 Feb 2024 21:02

Crikey Mel I'm surprised you managed to get all that done after the state you were in yesterday with your hip, but I expect you had a few breaks between jobs. I'm wondering now what you use for the hair for the Tudor man? The wool I use for wool felting would probably work, but might be a bit too frizzy in appearance for a Tudor man!

Mandy your DIL is doing really well to have got through and passed the first 6 of her 12 assignments. It must be quite hard to get back into things like that after a few years so she must be rightly pleased with herself. It sounds like she really enjoys the work too which helps.

Yes the changes must confuse the binmen as well as us customers! When we aren't sure, we wait till we see someone else stick their bin out first! Our bin lorry has been replaced with a posh, all electric one now and is bigger than the old lorry. I must remind OH to order a replacement garden bin again now we can put them out. Ours has a split down one side and I can see it spilling all the garden rubbish over the road before long. Reminding OH he would have to clean it all up if that happens should prompt him to send the email to them. :-D

I keep losing posts too the last few days. I must brush against one of the keys and zap! It always happens at the end of a post too.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Feb 2024 19:07

No Mandy I did'nt et cold hands as I only have to turn off the filter and the green light change the air over to the inner tank so it bubbles the plastic round things, leave it for 5 mins and drain that out and fill it up again and bubble it and then let that out take out the plug tube and run the filter again till it fills to the top of the inner drum and take out the tube plug from the middle and turn it all back on and its done. I have to let it bubble twice and let it out then fill it again turn the light back on and the pump and away it goes. I do swill it out with the hose but don't get wet hands. Did my pond filter too which is a bit different but bubble that one too with the air pump and then let it out and swill it turn it all back on and the air off and awy she goes.

Now I have bored you all with that I did some ironing and hoovered the bedroom and hall tidyed the uti room and flung away two t shirts and a jumper of oh's which I found in the bottom of the linen basket and thats the first time in years the bottom of the lined basket has seen the light of day. Corned the chickens and fed the wild birds but never managed to put the hair on my Tudor man.

Mince, mash and cauliflower cheese or broccoli tonight all out of the freezer so it will all go in the micro.

Evening all,

Just done a post and it whizzed off so I'll try again .

It's been a nice sunny day but so cold out ,I stripped the bed this morning and did wonder if I should hang it out but I didn't bother as it was cold .
We nipped to get eggs and potatoes and dropped some off to son and stopped and had a coffee with him ,dil was at work at the school she's doing really well with her course she's done six of the twelve assignments and passed all six.

Ann they have changed our bin day again its now back to Wednesdays instead of Tuesday, it's suppose to make the round easier for the men but it must confuse them when it keeps changing .

Sounds as if you've had a good day Mel but didn't you get cold hands doing the pond filter ,I bet the water was cold .

Hope Gill is OK it's been a while since she posted.

Right posting this incase it wihizzes off like the last one did.
