Attaching them is best Mel.

Still very wet here but I managed a walk down the road to take some books to Irene. She had the tent up a day early so I was able to find three books as I don't think I can get there tomorrow when it officially starts.

good morning all, grey here 7 degrees and raining a bit at the moment. I have the morning free but going out with friend after lunch. Not sure where though, if it is raining it could well be a garden centre.

I have only just checked them Mel and replied to you via email. yes they were about one inch by just under 2 inches. Are the originals Jpeg and what size are the originals if you look at properties of one of the photos.

Anng did your pictures come out at a good size please cos I have just looked at mine in the file and they have come out the size of a postage stamp and Ann said some of hers did too.

Mel I think we are all looking forward to seeing your little man.

Vera I hope another nights sleep will shake off your migraine completely.
Isn’t it a pain that new glasses take ages to be correctly adjusted.

Ann it would be much better if we could just attend one hospital. Our two are not far apart as the crow flies and are both in the same trust. You might remember Tvwas moved from one to the other and back again as they sorted out his needs. I suppose there are so many departments that one building can’t house them all. Unfortunately there is not a service bus that goes from Glos to the Cheltenham hospital. So it is good that only in the last few years they have brought in the hospital connecting bus. Mainly for NHS staff. But available to patients.stagecoach wouldn’t take the route on for some reason so it is a private firm. Although confusingly a Stagecoach double decker was running on the route this afternoon.
I think I have worked out how to make use of it although it entails leaving home at 1pm and goodness knows what time to get back after mt 3.15 a
Ointment.

Evening All,

My new browser layout is driving me mad and I keep losing posts. They've moved where you open and close tabs and if I click where it was before it closes a tab instead of minimising it. I just can't seem to get used to it and why do they have to always be messing about with everything these days! :-S At least doing posts more than once will keep them shorter.

Mel I thought the first landscapes you sent of BIL's photos were great, although 5 of mine were smaller than the old postage stamps for some reason. I could still tell they were good though. I hadn't thought of dolls' hair for your Tudor man. He must be about finished now.

Vera you have had a great time lately and the baby is growing fast. I can just picture her doing high fives. It's nice you have more visits from the family to look forward to as well. OH is catching up with you and will be off to the opticions tomorrow for the second time to get his new glasses adjusted! I hope your OH does better with his new glasses.

Mandy your DIL's course is quite expensive sn't it, but will be worth it to get the extra qualification. As Vera said it is a lot to do with everything else. Jake is doing well at the butchers and I wondered if Chelsea has any ideas about what she wants to do in the future. All I remember is being unsure, my parents not agreeing to what I wanted to do and the career adviser suggesting things I didn't want to do either!

AnnG I would have chosen the fishcakes too, especially home made ones. OH loves them and we have them every week with a salad usually. The tour sounded good and nice to see things you hadn't done before. It's such a nuisance you have to go to a different hospital. I remember OH going 17 miles in one direction for his hernia assessment, 23 miles to a hospital in another direction for his operation, yet we have 3 big hospitals in the city. They say you can choose these days, but it seems you have to wait longer if you do and no-one wants to do that. I hope you find a solution as taxis are quite expensive.

We are off to a bigger garden centre in the morning as I want to look at their pots and seeds. I suspect we'll get a small brekkie before looking around and there's a Works there and a shoe outlet.

Better post this now before I lose it again. :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Feb 2024 18:06

Lunch sounded nice and the tour was good too by the sounds of things. I'm glad you had a pleasent day and noticed things you had'nt seen before.

Vera its good you have your glasses adjusted again and your oh has his new ones too. Good that you slept better and I hope the migrain soon wears off and perhaps a good nights sleep again tonight will make you feel better tomorrow.

I have nearly finished my Tudor man just his belt to make and heels for his boots and I think he's then done.

Mandy £400 for the course is rather steep but it sounds like she is getting along nicely and its been well worth it. She is getting along well so far so I hope the rest of the course is not too hard.

Good afternoon all

I’m on my iPad and, after yesterday when bits of sentences kept disappearing, I’ve decided to type this in Notes and then c&p.

I got some sleep last night but still feel very strange today. I’m shaky and woozy and I just want to sit with my eyes closed and do nothing. I think it’s all connected with the migraines so I shall just have to wait for it to improve.

It’s a shame your friend can’t take you to the hospital AnnG. I hope you manage the buses OK. Your cathedral tour sounds good. I would have enjoyed it. Your lunch would have suited me too; the salmon and lemon fishcake is the sort of thing I would have chosen.

It was quite foggy and damp this morning but it brightened up after a while and was quite pleasant out. It’s raining again now.

Our friends came for coffee this morning and this afternoon I went into town with OH. I didn’t really feel up to it but decided I should make the effort and was glad I did. A bit of fresh air didn’t do me any harm. OH had to collect his new glasses so I got mine adjusted at the same time.

At lunchtime I had another surprise. Another of my grandchildren, son’s eldest girl, phoned and she is coming to visit us this weekend. Her boyfriend is away this weekend but is leaving his car for her to use. She says she is coming after work Friday. My only concern is that it’s a long drive at night on her own but it will be lovely to see her. It’s definitely my month for guests.

I’m going to lay back and rest my eyes for a while now. Will probably “see” you tomorrow.

Hello all, had a very good trip out, sadly there were only 2 of us for the cathedral tour and 3 for lunch. the tour was really interesting, we have done one before but that was all about the kings and nobility. This one was more about the architecture and the windows. Even though I have been in the cathedral many times I saw things that I had never noticed, shapes of different windows, types of the 'ceilings' in different area of the cathedral., even, looking outside the type of tower it is. Whether I remember it all is a different matter but she was such a good guide, it makes me want to go back again for another look. The lady guise was not young but her memory for facts and dates was really good.

Lunch was good as usual. Had a hot chocolate to drink while working out what to order. then all three of us had Salmon and lemon fishcake with parsley sauce and peas and two of us had chips and one had mash. It was a large hand made fishcake and very tasty.

Good morning all 6 degrees here this morning and misty again. woke at 5am and had trouble getting back to sleep. I always find if I wake then after a reasonable sleep my mind is too 'busy' to get back to sleep.

I am going in to town this morning. four of us are going on the Cathedral highlights tour. Well hopefully 4 as the numbers have gone up and down started at 6 dropped to five then dropped again to 4. We have lunch booked at a favourite restaurant.

It'll be lovely to see baby more often Vera what a treat to look forward to. Sounds like you have had a great few days with visitors and coffee meetings. I hope you have a better night tonight and get some well earned sleep after all the activity. I thought whats going on when I read the first lines of your post but then it reminded me of how mine goes sometimes. I type away and things don't come out and then they appear later on with some letters missing and I have to go and correct it all but I thought it was me!! or my keyboard as I still hav'nt put the new one on.

BIL has sent me more photos to show you so I will do that tomorrow. I have them all ready downloaded so they are all ready to go when I get a bit of time.

AnninGlos Report 27 Feb 2024 22:29

Looks as though you had a lovely time Vera. It will be good if you do get to see baby regularly. And good for her too to know her great grandparents.

Unfortunately my friend is not able to take me on Tuesday so it will be the bus. I have asked on the local site and people who have used it say it works ok.

I hope you have a good night and the migraine doesn’t develop.

I'm here and here's another long post Mel. You really have been busy and got a lot I'm here and here's another long post Mel. You have been really busy and got a lot done. Is your hip pain any easier? Be careful not to overdo it. Sometimes you just have to give in and rest. Thank you for sending your Bil's photos. He is such a good photographer and they are very atmospheric.

What a nuisance that you have to go to a different hospital AnnG. I hope your friend is able to take you. We occasionally have that problem here. Mostly we get referred to the West Suffolk Hospital but occasionally we'll get sent to Ipswich. They're both very difficult to get to by public transport but the West Suffolk is fractionally easier.

Annx, I hope someone in the planning department takes notice of objections to that warehouse scheme. I imagine they will get quite a lot. Now you have to think about the Colin Pitchfork issue where there are so many things to be considered. Rather you than me, as they say.

Your dil is making very good progress with her course Mandy. Well done, her. It's not easy to ha ve a job, look after a family, run a home and do the extra studying required.

Well, I have had a lovely birthday week, the best for years. Wednesday it was lunch with friends, as you know, and Saturday was just an easy, pleasant day. Grandson and family arrived early afternoon on Sunday and left Monday lunchtime. My daughter and her partner came later as he needed to rest in the afternoon. They arrived about 6 pm and stayed till about 9.45 pm so we all had a lovely meal together. Daughter had bought me quite a big solar lantern for our garden table and a box of 3 different sorts of fudge and grandson and partner gave me a framed photo of OH, myself and the baby which was taken at the beginning of December when they came down. Etched into the frame are the words "I love you Great Nan and Grandad". I'm not really into these rather sentimental things but it was very sweet.

The baby is a joy, very good and full of smiles. She shows such an interest in what's going on around her and plays well with little toys. There can't be many 6 month old babes that will "high five" you! Grandson says they plan to try and get down to see us and his other grandmother every few weeks if they can which would be great but we don't put any pressure on them. They have work and a child to look after as well as trying to look after their house and garden.

Today has been a bit hectic and hasn't been a very good day for me. I slept badly and have been teetering on the edge of a migraine all day though I gave in and took a couple of my pills earlier and feel a little better now. Today is the 18th anniversary of my Dad's death and I've been thinking of him and all he had to put up with over the years all day. which hasn't helped my mood.

This morning I did 3 loads of washing and tidied the house after the weekend and this afternoon I had to go into town to pick up my meds and post a parcel containing something of the baby's that had got left behind. I had checked parcel weights, dimensions and prices online before I went and decided it would be £4.19 I had a shock when the PO clerk asked me for £9.45. When I queried it with him that was apparently tracked, signed for and goodness knows what else, so I told him I just wanted ordinary 1st class postage please and he charged me £4.19. He hadn't asked me what service I wanted and, if I hadn't checked at home first, I would have paid the £9.45. I also popped into Waitrose for a couple of bits I wanted for tonight's dinner as we haven't had a supermarket delivery for 3 weeks and I am running out of some things.

This evening I have put in a big order with Sainsbury's for delivery Thursday afternoon so that will stock me up a bit.

Tomorrow friends are coming for morning coffee and OH has to go to the opticians to pick up his new glasses in the afternoon. I might go with him as mine could still do with a slight adjustment.

OH wants me to transfer some money from one bank account to another so I am going to do that online now and then close the computer down and maybe go to bed early and try and get some sleep. I hope you all sleep well too.

EDIT I know there are duplicated words and mistakes but every time I try to correct anything a few lines disappear and then sometimes reappear and sometimes don't so I decided to just post it before I lose the lot.
