Lovely pictures of the hare Mel. Thank you for sending them. It must be great to be able to look out and see all that wildlife..I still miss that from our old house.
I’m pleased to hear that you are feeling a bit better Mandy and that you are getting some energy back now. Isn’t it a pain when you lose a post?
That was nice of your friend to bring you a roast beef dinner AnnG. Did Jake finish your painting today? I’m glad your son is getting a decent break. I wish mine would do the same though I think his wife is making him take a short break now and then.
It’s good Mel heard from Frank. I miss his funny little tales as well. I’m sure Ros will keep a close eye on him.
Annx, granddaughter and boyfriend are here this coming weekend. The confusion was my fault. I think I said they would be coming “at the weekend” when I should have said “next weekend”. One of the reasons I wanted to get earrings for her younger sister now was so that she can take them back to Yorkshire with her and I won’t need to send them via a carrier in 4 weeks time.
I feel shattered now and so I’m going to get ready for bed and then read for a bit. We’ve both got the dentist in the morning.
Hope you all sleep well.

Good afternoon
It’s been a good deal warmer today and has stayed dry all day, though it’s still quite breezy.
We’ve had quite a busy day but I’ve managed to do all that I planned. First we drove to Colchester and parked in the car park we always used to park in when we went there regularly. Things had changed a bit and our first challenge was to find our way out of the car park. We used to come out on level 3 and walk right through Fenwicks shop to come out at the High Street. Today we were parked on level 2 and there was a notice saying go to level 10 and through the tunnel to get to Fenwicks. So we got the lift to level 10. We were on the roof!! Fenwicks was below us and goodness knows how they could have had a tunnel up there so it was back down again and we exited the way we always had before from level 3.
Next we had to find the jewellers we wanted but that didn’t take long and we picked some lovely earrings for granddaughter. They are a short drop in white gold with a twisted design, a bit like a musical treble clef, and a pearl which is her birthstone. Needless to say they were the most expensive we looked at but she’s worth it. The 3 older girls all got jewellery to keep and some money to spend for their 18ths so she’ll get the same.
Next we drove a couple of miles to a shoe shop we know. It’s a tiny place in a little parade of suburban shops but it’s always busy as the only person to serve is the owner. She takes endless trouble to get the fit right and is very knowledgeable. We had to wait while 2 people in front were served. When it was my turn I explained that I was looking for trainers but they needed to be quite wide and to allow for my shoe inserts and toe prop and I wanted a summery colour. She found just the thing and had them to fit me in bright blue or pale pink. I have a pair of bright blue “granny” sandals so I chose the pink. I never thought I’d have a pair of pink shoes but I am really pleased with them and relieved to get something that’s a good fit. Twice before when I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to get shoes I’ve gone there and got what I want so I think next time I’ll try there first.
Oh OH is calling me and we need to go out at 6 pm so I’ll try and get back later.

Evening All,
Lashing rain and howling wind all day. Really miserable weather, cold too.
That's good your son has realised your advice was right AnnG. The break isn't as long as I thought and will be good for him to relax and unwind. OH had a very pressurised job with lots of driving too and it was a job to get him to relax on a short break. He'd be on his phone to work sorting this and that while we were away. How nice of your friend to bring you a roast beef dinner.
That was good you heard from Frank Mel and it sounds like they are all ok. I miss the things he used to do that made us laugh.

So what you all been up to today?
Hope our Mandy is still on the mend. Sending love and wishes to you. <3

Morning all,
I had a lie in this morning. Up for the loo at 5.50am and went back to bed and woke just before 10am and lay there till 1039am. This has put me all behind for the rest of the day now and I have to post a parcel and get chickens feed.
This is the best bit though! I heard from our Frank this morning so here is his post.
Hi MEL. HOW IS EVERYTHING . Still alive snd kicking. Love to all. xxxx It's been so long since I posted/ SORRY. All still alive and kicking. I trust all my old friends are still around,

Good morning all, bright here so far and 7 degrees. fingers crossed it stays dry as jake is supposed to be coming this morning. I won't get excited until I actually see him in the garden. I slept very well last night, My unexpected take away dinner was very nice (and very large too), I actually thought it was bound to keep me awake it was a much bigger meal than I usually eat that time of night. Obviously it weighed me down so I couldn't move. I don't remember getting up for the loo before 0530. Not much I can do if Jake does come so will have to be H/W of some sort I suppose. Hope everyone slept reasonably and that Mandy continues to make progress.

Ann I think he is good to know but our paths only cross at the meeting really. Son etc are away three weeks. The cruises are like the one we did six days each. We always did tell him with working so hard he should be taking more good holidays and at last he is doing so. Wish his Dad was here to see it.
My friend was going out for lunch to a place we like to go, with a friend and coming in for a cup of tea when she got back. When she came she brought me a take away roast beef dinner. Isn’t that lovely. I shall heat it up soon. I was so surprised.

Afternoon All,
These rain showers are so heavy aren't they! They are certainly making everywhere look green though.
Vera that was great news about your eyes and just checkups would be much more pleasant in future. I've had to google things on OH's hospital letters to do with his eyes as I haven't had a clue what they meant! I hope you are having a nice weekend with your granddaughter visiting.
I couldn't believe it when OH hadn't got soaked last night. No rain where he was and it was only about 10 miles away. It always fascinates me that rainfall manages to cover all of the country often enough to keep everything growing.
Spikevax isn't the greatest name for something that's jabbed in your arm is it? :-D I'm glad the only effect seems to be an achey arm like the others. We used to be given leaflets with the flu jab too but not anymore.
Mandy maybe that's what your GP intends to do when the iron tablet effects on your tum have settled down as you say, but if she doesn't, I would ask whether you could have another blood test to see whether you are still anaemic. Your focus on eating more iron rich foods may be all that was needed. It must be a relief to be feeling better than you did.
AnnG you and the dancing man could prop each other up on the dance floor. :-D He sounds as if he could at least be a good friend. It's a shame you will miss the next meeting which would be interesting. Your son, DIL and granddaughter must be having a long break.
I could just fancy one of Mel's raspberry trifles now, but the cupboard is bare of anything like that. :-S

Started to rain here about a quarter of an hour ago but not heavily. Clouded over now but still quite bright.
Only one egg this morning so far and that was a brown one from the old girls.

Glad you’re not too bad Ann. I always ask what jab I am getting and was given a leaflet. I see I called it Spirevax but it’s actually Spikevax. I’ve just done a bit of googling and it seems to be Moderna under another name. I don’t really mind what I have as long as it does its job.
Still raining hard here :-(

Arm is just a bit achy as long as I don't spend too long typing. She asked me if I was well and then if I felt OK and then if I had had anaphylaxis any time after previous jabs. I didn't find out which vaccination it was.

You’re not dreaming AnnG. We had our boosters last Wednesday. Neither of us had any after effects apart from an aching arm. Mine still aches a bit but I can lay on it now. We were asked if we were in good health, if we’d ever had any reaction to a jab and if we had had Covid recently. We were given a vaccine called Spirevax which we hadn’t heard of but the doctor said it was pretty much the same as all the others. I hope your arm doesn’t get too uncomfortable.

yes Mel, I saw by the forecast last night that it was going to be fine and dry for you and solidly wet right across Gloucestershire and Wiltshire and right over to the South East. April has been a soggy month.
