Good morning all. Not unexpected but disappointing, back to normal and woke up to rain. Slept well until 0430 then not that well after that.

You still got a lot done Vera despite not having a good night. Hope last night was better for you..

It doesn't look like a gardening day, I am hoping to get the lawn cut by the time I go to daughter's so would like a few dry days. I thought about it when I came back from the shops yesterday but was too tired. so today will be paperwork, admin and a bit of H/W. I have the bedding in the wash so the bed will get changed.

May has started with wonderful weather, really warm and sunny at the moment though it clouds over every so often. I hope it continues through the month.

I had a really bad night. I slept for an hour but then woke up feeling very hot and couldn’t get back to sleep. I gave up at 3 am and got up, made a drink and sat reading till 5 when I went back to bed and slept till 7 am.

Later on we went to the shops and got a sack of sunflower hearts for the birds and a pack of 24 tins of Heinz baked beans which saved me a few pounds on Tesco prices. We did go on to Tesco where I filled a trolley. Since getting back we’ve had lunch and I’ve prepared dinner and done a bit in the garden. I’ve cleared 2 half barrels of tulip bulbs which I’ve put to dry out before storing them and done a bit of weeding.

Sorry, eyes have gone squiffy and I can’t see properly. Will have to stop.

That be song and if youappoointment it wood have ben.

That must be so annoying Anng and if yoou had had an appointment it would have been worse.

It still going bonkers I shall have to see if I can get the new keyboard on but I don't really want it plugged into the front of the box as I use both those ports for charging things up. There must be one at the back but not sure if I can reach it.

That silence is horrible. We had it once after a visit from a sparrow hawk.
Back from town now. Buses going in all up the creek. waited 40 minutes for a bus on our 20 minute service then two came at once. Not sure why. Understand them being disrupted because we have a detour on part of the route (Cheltenham way) because of a dangerous bridge that is closed but not sure why one is so way over its time. and this is not the first day this bus has been 20 minutes late. Strange.

My Robbie is'nt taken worms away and I have just seen the sparrow hawk fly across the garden again. This is the second day he's been like this. There are no birds singing or round the feeder.

It was a beautiful sunset Mel

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Apr 2024 20:59

I can't reach mine windscreen either. I do have a microfibre thing on aa short handle but I can't remember if I have ever used it. I think I have used it for dusting the dash as thats very deep on my car too.

I have jsut sent pics of my sunset. Its the first time it has appeared today at 8.42pm. I made a note of the time when I came in from taking the pics. Ones a bit bleary as I shake quite a bit and the camera always wants to lighten things up so I don't get the actual colours.

Annx
Daughter had one of those microfibre sticks. We referred to it as her 'wand' and she found if very useful for reaching far parts of the windscreen.
Only thing is, where do you keep such a useful thing, so that it's to hand, but not cluttering up the car footwell or elsewhere, when you are carrying other passengers?

Good evening everyone

It’s been another dry and quite warm day, sunny this morning and cloudy this afternoon and very pleasant. I think it got to about 15 degrees.

Thank you for the pics AnnG. Like Mandy says, that is a big ship. It must be like a small town on board. Your family look happy and relaxed and that’s the main thing.

You’ve got on well with your seeds Mandy. It’s good to know you’ve got a bit of your mojo back. Several days ago I potted up my tomato seedlings. I’ve got 16 but a lot of those will go to two plant sales that are coming up; we certainly won’t want that many.

Your new girls seem to be laying well Mel. They must be feeling happy in their new home.

Today has been busy again. We both had a check up at the dentist this morning. OH has to have a chipped tooth repaired in a couple of weeks, then we’re both OK till our next check up already booked for 5th November. This afternoon I’ve washed a load of towels, cleaned out a cupboard and done a couple of small garden jobs, checked and tidied all my cuttings and tender plants in the conservatory and washed a couple of big pots. Now my back is screaming at me that it’s had enough but I am cooking dinner while I’m typing. We’re having meat pie to please OH and lots of different veg to please me.

Tomorrow I’m planning on food shopping first thing. With 2 hungry twenty somethings here for the weekend I’d better stock the larder with extra veg, milk, bread etc and also get in some nibbles, crisps etc which we don’t normally have in the cupboard. After that it will probably be h/w.

Annx, I think we have one of those microfibre pads in the boot of the car where it has resided for a few years now since it was given to OH. I can’t tell you if it is any good as I don’t think it’s ever been used.

Dinner’s nearly ready so I had better post this and make some gravy.

EDIT. I got distracted and forgot to post this. Dinner was very tasty.

Evening All,

What a wet, squally day day until now when the sun is shining.

That's a fine Hare Mel. You are so lucky to see these things. We used to see them at the farm where the pony was kept that I used to exercise with a carriage years ago at the end of the village. Of course that is where thousands of houses are now being built so they will have all gone. It sounds like the white hens are laying well now which is good.

Oh AnnG, let down again with your painting! As you say though, you can't judge too soon as they may have worries with the baby. Hopefully he will be in touch again before long. Thanks for the photos of your son and family and the cruise liner. What a fine ship it is and it sounds like they have very nice accommodation too!

Mandy it sounds like you are beginning to catch up with your garden now and have done well getting some seeds planted. The warmer weather will soon have them sprouting!

I see now Vera. Those earrings sound lovely and your granddaughter will love them and it's a good idea for her to take them with her rather than send them to her.
I've just ordered one of those microfibre pad things on a short, extending stick. It's for cleaning the inside of the car windscreen as I'm blowed if I can reach much of it, especially in front of the steering wheel, as the windscreen slopes so much. I'm hoping something similar will be good for doing the shower to save bending so much, but I'll test this and see how it is first.

Evening all,
It's been a beautiful day here we managed to get some seeds planted up ,3 different toms ,two different cues and a bit late the sweet peas and then we got the front grass cut , tomorrow we want to get the runners beans in the pots and some sunflowers .
I have some phlox seed but I've never had that before so I don't know if I need to put some in pits or if it can be sown straight in the garden ,I shall have to have a Google.

Anng thats one big ship :-)

Morning all,

Wet windy and werry grey. 11 degrees and pc says mostly cloudy.

So another miserable wet day. Hope it dos'nt rain for your hair appointment Ann.

Shopping comes today so that something to look forward to.

Glad you all liked my Hare pics. He/she looked very happy over the back munching the grass. I could see it disappearing into its mouth as it chewed. Every time it lifted its head up the ears were up and as soon as the head was up they lay down. I was trying to get a pic of it with its ears up but each time it was a bit too quick for me.

AnninGlos Report 30 Apr 2024 07:32

Good morning all 10 degrees here, nearly a heatwave! Dry so far, hope it stays that way as it is hairdresser at 12 and I don't want a wet walk.
No Vera, guess what Jake didn't turn up and I didn't hear from him or his partner. I was cross at first, but resigned. But since then I have felt more concerned than anything. the reason he didn't turn up last week was because his little one was at Glos royal hospital and the last I heard she had developed a rash. I am thinking she is still poorly, there are a lot of measles cases around, maybe she has that. Just hoping that she is ok.
Yes it was really good of my friend to get me the take away, It was a lovely surprise and I enjoyed it.
Son seems to be enjoying the cruise. He is not the most sociable of people and I never thought he would like a cruise but he has money to spend so the three of them are in an upmarket two storey 'cabin' with a large balcony. He made me chuckle with a whats app yesterday. "Hi Mum, today we went snorkelling, we jumped into the water off the ship, well S was snorkelling. I was more controlled drowning" (S is granddaughter.

Mel thank you for the photos of the hare. How lovely to see one so close, you are lucky.

It was good that Frank remembered to keep in touch bless him.
